A REPAID DEBT

Dante

I've been an alpha since I was twenty. In the last war I ever saw, my father was cut down in front of me and my mother when I was only six.

Occasionally I wished he had lived because growing up with his wife was no picnic at the park. She never once showed me or anyone motherly love, a trait crucial for a Luna.

I'm just a trophy for my mother. It took me a couple of years to realize I'd never get that type of bond, so I gave up trying with that woman.

So, sitting here with her to have breakfast seems all too suspicious to me.

"Why am I here?" I bluntly asked my mother.

Quirking a perfectly good eyebrow at me, she wipes her mouth. "Whatever do you mean son?" Mother answers with a question.

Gritting my teeth, I dig my nails into my fist to remain calm. "Why did you call me for breakfast mother, we don't do these sort of things together."

"Oh come on, we've eaten together plenty of times before." She insisted, looking at me as if I'm the fool.

Slamming my palms down on the table, it rattles causing everyone in the restaurant to look in our direction. "Cut the bullshit!" I growled.

Taking a sip of the tea she had ordered, she places the cup back on the saucer. Leaning forward, she rests her hands under her chin. "There's a rumor going around town that the Thanksgiving Dinner is canceled."

"It's not a rumor, this year is about family," I confirmed what she's fishing for.

Smiling ever so sweetly, she brushes a stray bang from her eyes. "Oh, my little pup, that party will be happening. Furthermore, the pack is family," she coaxed.

"So is my daughter, and I want her to know Anna, and the boys first before the pack," I replied, and her perfect demeanor is gone.

"I warned that girl to stay away from you, it seems we need to have another little chat." She murmured to herself, but I heard every word. "Listen to me boy, I will not let you go back down that road." She added, returning to her breakfast like it's normal.

Gripping the table, I flip it over, kicking it aside. "No, you listen," I grit out. "I. AM. THE. FUCKING. ALPHA, YOU DON'T. CONTROL. ME!" I seethed, as she looked at me flabbergasted.

Just because I listen to pack members' problems before passing judgment, my mother always assumed I'm a weakling by heart—which is the opposite. My father adored my mother, even though she's the definition of a complication.

I never once raised my voice or disrespected my mother in remembrance of my dad. The woman has certainly done despicable, and terrible things to remain in power during my training years, even when I took on as alpha.

But she has been pushing the boundaries these days. Unfortunately for her, the discovery of Destiny has changed my perspective of both my mother and myself.

My daughter's upbringing without a father is the evidence of my mother's action, along with my own and I refuse to put up with her behavior any longer.

"No party, and watch how you speak to me in the future," I advised my mother, who remained speechless in her seat as I marched out of the restaurant.

"Wake up daddy! Wake up, mommy!" Dean's voice continues to yell on repeat as he jumps up and down on our bed, making me slap a pillow over my head; his energy too much for me at this hour.

He's been dying for this day. All four of our boys are excited to meet their big sister.

"We're up, we're up," Anna moans sleepily beside me.

"Just give us a minute to get dressed," I finally mumbled, still half asleep.

'How about we take a shower to save us some time.' I mindlink Anna through our mated bond.

'Alpha, are you trying to seduce me?' she purred.

"Daddy!" Dean yelled, distracting us.

"Okay, we get it," Anna retorted, rolling her eyes as she sauntered out of bed, swaying her hips, taunting me.

Smirking. 'Oh baby, I've got plans for you.' I tell her, accepting the challenge.

We'll see about that," she laughed, before disconnecting our link.

*

"Well finally!" our eldest, Damion scoffs in greeting causing Anna to hit him in the back of the head.

Damion is sixteen years old, only about two years younger than his big sister. He's an exceptional warrior and weapons specialist of any kind. The boy is already standing at 5'9, taller than his peers.

He has also inherited my vast physique that also makes him stand out more. But thanks to his mother's golden eyes, he's a pretty boy. Not to mention his silver hair—the trademark color that runs in my mother's side of the family, makes him all the young she-wolves target.

"I mean, you guys, took your sweet time getting up," the second oldest, Dimitri agreed.

Ah, Dimitri. He's only twelve, yet, he's the best hunter and tracker in his age group thanks to his slender body that gives him that extra advantage too. He favors his mother in the looks department, but he has my silver eyes.

"Yeah. We had to send in the walking alarm clock to get you up," the third oldest, Damon finishes.

Damon's only nine, but he's a clever nine-year-old who's a tactician. He's the one that shares all my features, except for my eyes.

"I see you guys are up without force for once," Anna declared. "I think Destiny will have to move in permanently to get you guys up at this hour more often," she further joked as the boys' faces light up at the mention of Destiny living with us.

Not that the thought hasn't crossed my mind, but Destiny gave me one chance to make everything right and I don't intend to mess it up.

"I can't wait to meet her, she sounds cool," Damon says, and the rest of them nod in agreement.

'I think we should tell them the truth,' Anna mindlinks. Causing me to sigh knowing she's right.

"Boys, there's something we'd like to tell you," Anna announced, all four sets of eyes staring at us expectantly.

"What's up?" Dimitri questioned.

"Well, you see, your sister...is not like us. She's quite different," I tried explaining.

"We know, she's a witch. What's the big deal about having a sister who's a witch?" Damion asks, shrugging.

"True, she's a witch, but not entirely," I mumbled, and they all frown.

"I'm confused," Damon murmured.

"What your father is trying to say is, your Destiny shares both your dad's and her mother's genetics," Anna replies.

"No way!" Damion cried out, no doubt figuring out what we're trying to tell them.

"What?" A confused Dimitri questions.

"Dude, our sister's a hybrid!" Damion shouts.

"AWESOME!" Damon cheers and Dean follows.

"You mean you guys don't mind?" I enquired.

"Not at all, she's our sister, and our blood," Damion says reassuringly. "One question though, how is she alive?" He asked.

"That, we don't understand," I replied.

"I'm just glad we have a sister," Dimitri says, his brothers nodding in agreement.

Smiling at my boys, I hug and kiss each one of them. I'm happy they've already accepted that bit of information. It'll make things go a lot smoother.

Hours later, dinner's ready but Destiny's still not here yet. As we all wonder if she had second thoughts. But soon enough, we hear a car pull up and honk a few seconds afterward.

"Miss Destiny Hawthorne and Master Demon have arrived, Alpha DeLuca," Simon, our butler announced as Destiny looked at Demon who seemed to be over the moon, and she snickers.

"Thank you, Simon, you have no idea how Demon appreciates to be called master." Destiny proclaimed, and I swear, the dog smirked.

Destiny outstretched her hand to shake Simon's own, and he's taken aback.

Simon Anderson has been with us since my grandfather's time. He refuses to give up the job no matter how I insist. The old man was a warrior in his time, so he can still drop a couple of bodies. He's a loyal member of this pack and I'm happy to see that my daughter is showing the same respect we have for him.

"Hi! I'm Dean and I'm six years old," Dean says, bouncing up and down, showing six fingers making Destiny laugh.

Crouching down to his level. "Hey, little man. My name's Destiny and I'm more than all your fingers put together," she replied with excitement, and Dean beams.

The boys introduce themselves one at a time, briefly stating a little something about themselves. Although, Destiny looks content either way.

"Dinner is ready guys, so let's go," I say before Dean can continue yapping.

"Damn. This looks so incredible," Destiny praised, about the table setting. Which possesses just about everything that's her favorite.

Destiny's drooling much to our delight, making her pout.

"Ugh. Can we just go and eat, you jerks," she grumbled which only made us snicker.

------

"Since then, we've been inseparable." Destiny finished telling us the story about her and Demon's unusual friendship.

"Amazing, that's so cool!" Dimitri exclaimed.

We're all eating, exchanging stories between bites, and enjoying each other's company. And I for one am happy making me clear my throat to get everyone's attention.

Here goes nothing.

Raising my glass of wine, I smile at Anna. "Well, I'd normally have a bunch of people for my speech, but this year, it's just us. This year, I am thankful," I begin to say. "I have my wife, my sons, and mainly, I have the missing piece of my heart and soul, Destiny. And for that, I truly feel blessed." I declared, receiving a round of applause.

"I'm thankful this year because I finally have a sister, who's also going to be my alpha. It will be an honor to work alongside you." Damion says, raising his glass of juice towards Destiny---also earning applause.

"You guys know what I am right," Destiny whispered, and the boys nod. "Yet you're all cool with it?" She asks, shocked.

"We don't care. Like I told dad this morning. You're our sister, and our blood, you're family." Damion replied.

"Thank you all for welcoming me into your family and accepting what I am," Destiny says with wobbly lips and glistening eyes.

"To Destiny, thank you for giving us. No, give me another chance. Thank you," I say, raising my glass and everyone follows.

"To Destiny," everyone cheered.

"To the bastard child who has ruined this family's honor," a voice drowns out the joy and happiness.

Instantly, I see my mother standing in the doorway, face stilled, arms crossed, a deep scowl on her face, and a pointed glare at Destiny. Why does she have to bloody ruin everything!

"Didn't I tell your slave status ass to stay away from my son?" She sneered.

Before anyone can react, Destiny has my mother in a death grip. Fury radiates off her as she holds my mom in place.

"Bridgette. It seems you've forgotten two major things. One, I'm not my mother, a frightened young witch who's afraid of your empty threats. And two, you burned my grandmother alive," Destiny spat and my mother pales.

She knows!

"Awe. Did you think I didn't know? You see, I tried to tolerate you and your behavior, but you go out of your way to piss me off," a sarcastic Destiny stated, staring down at my mother as if she's her prey. Slamming her further into the wall.

"Ανεπιθύμητη σκύλα[Goodbye bitch]," Destiny says in a foreign language.

"NO! DESTINY! Stop!" Sara and Alexis shout together out of nowhere and just as Sara surrounds the boys with a blinding light, only for Destiny's necklace to glow. Making Sara gasps in utter disbelief.

Too shocked to move, and react. As we all watch in horror.

"This is for my grandmother." Destiny begins, extending her claws. Unlike last time with her canines, she's in complete control. "See you in hell, bitch," she finished—launching her clawed hand right into my mother's chest, ripping her heart out clean, and throwing it on the ground like it's nothing.

I stare into my mother's lifeless eyes, as her body falls to the ground with a heavy thud. And a bloody Destiny smirks in delight.

Shock. That's the correct word right now. I mean I just watched my daughter kill my mother in cold blood without an ounce of remorse. Not like she didn't have it coming, but she was my mother after all.

"Destiny! Your n... neck," Sara stutters but doesn't get to finish. Destiny's necklace glows making her smile.

"You're welcome grandma," Destiny says softly and Sara gasps like a fish out of the water as we all see Edith appear, smiling before she disappears into the necklace.

What the actual fuck!

******

The boys didn't witness it, thanks to Sara. So Anna took them upstairs for bed shortly after the incident.

It's now extremely late by the time we get rid of my mother's body and give Destiny time to shower, change, and calm down. We sit waiting timidly and somewhat fidgety, including Sara, which is odd since my mother had feared her greatly.

"She repaid a debt that was owed with her life and I will not apologize nor do I feel guilty, dad. I came here for a reason and I have a promise to fulfill," Destiny's voice says. She's light on her feet, I didn't even notice she was standing at the doorway.

"Destiny. Your necklace... I... I... That necklace hasn't been active in centuries. The last time it even gave any sign of hope was the day your grandmother found out she was pregnant with your mother and even then. It was just a simple spark, b... but you... you... it glows for you, not only that. Now your grandmother's essence has finally joined the ancestors... How's that possible?" a confused Sara asks.

"It's been happening lately. I hear them trying to reach out to me, but I can't understand them clearly, not yet that is. I'm also having dreams, but they don't feel like dreams. I'm in a forest, but when I reach a clearing, everything vanishes," Destiny explains.

"It's nature trying to reconnect with a bond that has been broken, way too long. The force of Yin and Yang," Alexis speaks up.

Shit. I forget she's still here, but can you blame me? The woman who gave birth to me and made my life among others almost unbearable is finally dead. So excuse me if my goddamn brain needs a few moments to get shit together.

"Honey. Are you okay?" a concerned Anna asks. I didn't even realize I zoned out. Like what the hell Dante seriously?

After a minute or two, I nod, and finally, it occurs to me that Destiny said, dad. I don't care if she rejects me. I get up and hug the hell out of her. It's so unexpected that she tenses for a bit before relaxing, hugging me back awkwardly at first.

"You said dad," I whisper, but I know she did and I know everyone heard it too.

"Yeah. I did... Didn't I," she mumbled, smiling. We hugged again before I insisted everyone stay the night.

*******

We watched as the flames engulf my mother's wrapped up body, turning her into ashes. Stripping our clothes, we shift and howl for our 'lost'.

Each pack member comes up to us, bows, and pays their respect. No matter how they felt towards my mother, she was their luna before Anna, a former warrior, and a fellow Demon so it's mutual to show respect. Along with that, I see a few people giving Destiny sideway glances, not like she cared. And with Tyler glued to her side, they didn't have much to say either.

I lost my mother, but I also gained my daughter. Well... maybe not fully, I'm yet to earn her heart. But this is progress in my eyes and with that thought. I smile mentally since she can't mindlink with us yet.
