Aggravation

As much as she enjoys being wrapped in Colin’s warm arms, she has a nagging thought of what to do next. She wants nothing more than to go and collect Bella’s things and move her into the packhouse. So, Moon pushes down all her feelings about things she can do little about at the moment and chooses to move on with the day.

“Well, I have had enough of feeling sorry for myself, and I don’t want Bella to go back to the orphanage. She isn’t happy there, and I don’t know why but she doesn’t seem to like this Rachel person. So, what can we do about getting her here today.” Moon looks at Colin with a mischievous smile.

“I already have all the paperwork, and Bell’s things are being dropped off later. I figured you wouldn’t want her to go back there after we dropped her off at school this morning.” Colin smiles, feeling a little better that he did one thing right this morning, at least.

“Good.” Moon chirps, satisfied.

“Maybe we should move your things to my room as well?” Colin has a dark and hopeful look as he moves a tiny bit closer to her. He’s still holding her and doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to let her go.

Kiara is going nuts bouncing around her mind, yes, yes, yes, please say yes, just say yes.

Moon smiles and tries not to laugh at the wolf in her mind. “Okay, I think I can manage that. I should go anyway. I’m sure you have work to do. Can I go and get Bella from school later? The walk isn’t that long.” Moon shifts, but Colin still refuses to let her go.

“I do have work to do, but I am having trouble caring about work at the moment. I would rather stay like this. Colin is just inches from her lips. Moon feels the rush and butterflies in her stomach. She is completely lost to him at this point. When he kisses her again, full of need and wanting, she can’t stop the small moan that escapes her. Every part of her losing all sense of reason, just being taken over by this burning need to be closer to him.

When his hands start to travel down her back, then to the hem of her skirt, she feels like she is on fire. Colin has his hands on her thighs and butt, pulling her so close to him she can feel his need for her. When he lifts her up, she wraps her legs around him, demanding more from him, and he’s more than willing to give her anything she wants. Her soft moans and sighs are all the encouragement he needs.

The knock on the door goes unnoticed for a long moment until they knock again sharply.

“I suggest you go away,” Colin growls at the door, but it is too late. Moon unwraps her legs and giggles again.

“It seems you are needed, Alpha. You do have a pack to run.” Moon is teasing him now as she tries to pull away from him. He pulls her back to him with just enough force to make her gasp.

“I only see one thing I need to pay attention to today.” He groans darkly in her ear, kissing her neck, making her legs shudder and knees weak.

The sharp knock persists again, and Moon takes his moment of surprise to free herself. Colin glares at the loss of her in his arms. A woman’s sharp voice can be heard on the other side of the door.

“Alpha, I need the paperwork to release the child to you. I brought Bella’s things as well.” The voice is muffled through the door, but it has an air of arrogance to it Moon doesn’t like.

“Is that Rachel?” Moon asks quietly, fixing her hair and skirt.

“It would seem so.” Colin sounds so annoyed. Moon can’t help but be amused by it, but she isn’t sure how happy she is about the interruption either. She knows what Doc had to say but waiting until she shifts might be an impossible task.

Colin opens the door, and Moon isn’t sure what she was expecting Rachel to look like, but it certainly wasn’t what she saw marching into the room. This woman is young, tall, and gorgeous. Her auburn hair is pinned back from her face in soft curls. She looked more like a model than someone operating an orphanage. Despite the fact that her face looks like she just sucked on a lemon, she is beautiful.

“Oh, good. I need those papers, Alpha. I want everything in order before I release the child to her foster parents.” Rachels’s voice is sharp and direct, and Moon can now see why sweet little Bella isn’t fond of the woman. She’s about as warm as the artic. Her face could freeze water if she glared at it.

“I just need to sign them.” Colin begins, just to be cut off by Rachel.

“Yes, and she will as well.” Rachel glances and flips her hand in Moon’s direction.

I hate her. Kiara shoots back. How is she allowed to be around children, let alone people? I can feel the chill coming off her from here.

Moon has to stifle her laugh and ends up snorting as the laugh is cut short.

“Sorry new to the whole wolf thing. Nice to meet you, Miss Rachel.” She tries to cover her blunder.

“Yes, of course, Luna.” Rachel is looking Moon over, and she has the distinct impression that she doesn’t measure up to Rachel’s standards. In fact, the look on Rachel’s face has shifted. She now looks like she smells something unpleasant, as well as just eating a whole lemon.

Colin had gone to his desk to retrieve the paperwork, and Moon walks over as well, brushing off the disapproving look from Rachel. Colin signs and hands the pen to Moon, who happily signs it. Colin gives the papers back to the prickly woman.

“Okay then, if you have trouble with her, just let me know. She does take a bit of reprimanding. She is a very disobedient child.” Rachel seems to not realize she said anything wrong when Moon slaps the desk.

“She is a sweet and wonderful girl. How dare you.” Moon is angry and trying to keep control of herself and Kiara.

“I just meant Bella can be difficult.” Rachel is trying to backpedal out of what she said to upset Moon and leave the room quickly.

“You don’t know what you are talking about. Do you even like children? Bella is smart and funny. She has a problem with you, and I think I can see why.” Moon yells as the woman retreats.

The door closes, and Moon growls, “Oh tell me, that woman is she really responsible for children? She can’t possibly be.”

“That is just how she is, and no, she runs the orphanage not actually caring for them.” Colin looks a little too amused, and Moon glares at him.

“What?” She asks, still irritated.

“Nothing; you look cute when you are angry, that’s all,” Colin smirks.

Moon rolls her eyes, but she still gives him a smile. “I just know I don’t like her at all, and I’m happy to get Bella away from her. I’m also going to do and move my things and let you do important Alpha things.”

Colin looks at her with a funny look for a moment, “I hate to let you leave, but if it’s to move into my room with me, I guess I can live with it.”

When Moon leaves the office, she can still smell Rachel’s perfume in the hall, l and she wrinkles her nose.

I don’t like that woman at all, and I don’t think I trust her. Kiara growls in Moon’s head.

You and me both. She glares down the hall for a moment.
