Farrell

Moon leaves the office with her thoughts a mess. She is looking at her feet as she walks down the hall. If she had been watching where she was going, she would have seen him, but she wasn’t. He saw her, though, and he stepped in front of her. This causes her to nearly trip, but he is more than happy to wrap his arms around her.

Moon gasps and looks up, half expecting to see Colin holding her, but it isn’t him. It’s the blonde want-to-be surfer-looking Jamie. His smug smile and arrogant face makes Moon sick to her stomach. She pushes against him as hard as possible, trying to escape him. He only holds her tighter.

“Hey, cutie. Imagine finding you here,” he coos moving his face closer to hers.

“If you don’t let me go-” Moon growls through gritted teeth.

“Oh, what will you do, cutie?” He smirks.

Moon kicks him hard in the leg. She is aiming higher but can’t manage to connect. He just grins at her. Moon is about to do the only thing she can think of: Bite him. She is just about to when the loud growl resonates through the hall.

Jamie instantly dropped his arms, and Moon lands on her butt again. Jamie turns around slowly with his neck showing to the fuming Alpha standing at the end of the hall. All the other wolves are standing still as statues. No one wants to move and risk drawing Colin’s attention to them.

Colin is breathing hard, and he is slowly shifting. He is obviously trying to prevent it, but it is a struggle. Muscles and veins bulge, and his eyes have gone black again. His teeth grow to points. Moon finds herself worrying more for Jamie and the hospital staff than anything else.

“I told you to leave her alone!” The menacing growl that is clearly not Colin says.

“I know. I’m sorry, Alpha. I didn’t mean any harm. I was just goofing around. Really, I didn’t mean anything. I’m sorry,” Jamie sputters, baring his neck even more and trying to look small. Moon rolls her eyes at how pathetic he looks and sounds, but she doesn’t want him to be killed by an Alpha with anger issues.

Moon stands up and calmly walks in front of Jamie. Colin, or rather his wolf, who is very clearly in charge right now, locks his eyes on her the moment she moves.

“I’m fine. I just want to go now, please,” Moon calmly says as she walks down the hall. She doesn’t really know why she isn’t afraid like everyone else in the clinic. Even Chris, who has come out of Johnny’s room, keeps his distance behind Colin. Chris looks at Moon and even tries to shake his head, telling her to keep her distance. Moon still isn’t affected or afraid. She thinks it has to do with her lack of a wolf. Maybe if her wolf had emerged, she wouldn’t feel so bold.

“Please, can we go? Will you take me back to the packhouse now?” Moon is now standing a few feet from the still angry Alpha.

His eyes lock on her as he growls softly. His head snaps back to the cowering Jamie.

“Last warning: stay away from her, or I will remove your head,” he snaps. Moon can hear Jamie whimper out, “yes, Alpha.”

Moon just walks closer and puts her hand on Colin’s arm. She can tell he is fighting for control again, but the angry wolf isn’t about to let go yet.

“What is your name?” Moon whispers as she puts her hand on his arm.

“Farrell,” he growls, still glaring at Jamie.

“Farrell, I would really like to leave now. Will you take me back to the packhouse?” Moon softly asks. At the sound of his name on her lips, he peers down at her. His expression softens.

“I told Colin you are special.” The wolf leans close to her ear so only she can hear him, but not because he didn’t want anyone to know what he thought of her. If Farrell had his way, everyone would know exactly what he thought of Moon. No, he just wants to make her shiver. He knows how close he is to her when he whispers in her ear. If he could have gotten away with being even closer, he would have, but Colin is quick to take Farrell’s lack of concentration to regain control.

Moon does shiver as his hot breath hits her cheek. The sound of his low gravelly voice in her ear makes her stomach clench into knots again. She feels every part of her heat up. The voice in her head is back and purring in return. Not to mention more than a few thoughts and images are flashing in Moon’s mind. Moon is pretty sure they are not hers, but honestly, it is hard to tell for sure.

She has to think quickly of anything else to keep from being completely turned on. Moon knows full well that every wolf will know if she is, especially Colin because standing in front of her. His dark brown eyes are looking at her. He is still breathing heavily, but his features are all his own again.

He can’t think of anything to say, so he just takes her hand, which is still resting on his biceps. Taking her hand in his. He leads her out of the clinic past the shocked-looking Chris and out into the air.

Colin takes a deep breath of the fresh air. The smell of rain and honeysuckle fills his senses. It is faint, but it is there. Farrell is protesting the loss of control. He is also howling that Moon said his name, and he wants her to say it again. He wants to hear her say it over and over, in fact. Colin’s head is full of thoughts of everything Farrell wants to do. Colin is committed to waiting for his mate, but if Farrell didn’t stop soon, Colin might not be able to fight it much longer.

She smells sweet, and her skin is warm on his. Even her hand locked in his is a comforting feeling, one that he didn’t think possible. Colin is sure he doesn’t really deserve comfort. He is a monster. No one knows why he had to leave his pack and why his brother was given the title of Alpha. Colin was never loved by his father, and Colin can’t blame him for it. If it wasn’t for him, she would still be alive.

Colin has been nothing but a monster from the day he was born. No one could love him; the moon goddess will never give him a mate, and the goddess definitely isn’t going to give him Moon. Colin knows there is no way a monster like him and Farrell could deserve her.
