Chapter 294 Leaving The Country
Though Daphne was a prominent young lady, her tastes were surprisingly down-to-earth.
In the end, she took them to a humble burger joint.
As they munched on their burgers, she explained, “It’s not that I’m stingy. I just really wanted you to try this burger joint. It’s hot sauce is really amazing.”
Lysander couldn’t take spicy food, so she ordered a burger without any hot sauce and ate slowly enjoying her meal.
However, Adrian refused to even try it. Seeing Lysander eating contentedly, he frowned and said, “Street food like this isn’t very hygienic. Even if she doesn’t know it, you should be aware. And why are you just following along?”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? There’s nothing wrong with eating burgers!”
“Don’t eat this,” Adrian insisted. “Let’s go somewhere else. My treat.”
He stood up, ready to leave, but Lysander’s words brought him back to his seat: “When I was in school, I used to eat at the street stalls in the alley behind our campus. They were cheap and delicious, and it was perfectly healthy. Besides, our school was a medical university, and both students and teachers ate there. They’re still working in Harborbrook’s top hospitals, saving lives every day.”
“Exactly,” Daphne mumbled through a mouthful of french fries. “Don’t be like Josiah, who always insists on eating steak and pasta. That’s so pretentious.
Adrian hesitated, then sat back down.
He called to the owner, “I’ll have one too.”
“Got it. Do you want any hot sauce?” the owner asked.
“No, I’ll skip it just like her.”
Daphne teased him, “Such a big guy, and you can’t handle spicy food?”
Adrian glared at her. “Be glad I’m eating this at all.”
Daphne laughed, giving him a thumbs-up. “Not eating spicy food is your final stand.”
Life went on as usual, and the sun continued to rise each day.
However, there were significant changes in their department.
With Lysander preparing to go abroad, many of her responsibilities had to be transferred to other colleagues. r thesis, had to take on more duties.

Melinda was open-minded about it. “After working hard all my life, i found retirement too boring. It’s better to keep working. You go ahead and pursue more learning and evelopment.”
Lynn, on the other hand, clung to Lysander and cried “Dr. Thorne, when you’re abroad, can you buy me some cookies?”
Lysander couldn’t help but smile.
She truly envied Lynn, whose world was simple. As long as she published her thesis, completed her work, and got her favorite cookies, her life was perfect
The same went for her sister, Michelle.
Last night, Michelle called, “Lysander, if you’re feeling sad, you can talk to me. I’ll keep you company.”
“Sad? Me?”
“Don’t pretend. I know you’re just hiding it so Mom and Dad won’t worry. Mdm. Camila care over last night and apologized profusely to our parents. Lysander, did you and Zachary break up because he’s being stationed in Strico permanently?”
“Well… sort of.”
Michelle sighed deeply. “I really thought you two were perfect for each other! It’s all Zachary’s lousy job’s fault. They knew he was getting ready to marry and buy a house, yet they still sent him to Strico. What, the whole company can’t function without him?”
