"If you can't do it, don't sweet-talk me with promises you can't keep.”

Aurelia wasn't one to get swept off her feet by honeyed words.

Leopold leaned in close, his whisper tickling her ear, "Except for you, I've never had anyone else. Not before, not now, not ever."

A jolt ran through Aurelia’s heart like a boulder had been hurled into a still pond, rippling waves across its surface.

"How could he possibly have never had sex with Megan? Wasn't it Megan who seduced him into a tryst while I was fighting for my life in the ICU? And where did the baby in Megan's belly come from, if not from him?” Aurelia was confused, thinking like this.

“Are you lying to me because you think I can't check the truth?" Aurelia spat out.

"I'll prove it to you now if you want," he said as he began to unbutton his shirt, revealing a chiseled chest.

Aurelia caught her breath. Was he trying to distract her with his looks again?

"You should go before Megan comes looking for you again.”

"She won't be coming,’ he said with a mischievous grin, having already sent someone to lead her away.

She shot him an annoyed glance, "We're supposed to have dinner soon.”

"There's time,” he murmured, capturing her lips in a swift kiss, "Let's have a quick bite first."

His warm breath enveloped her, drawing her deeper into his tender embrace, and they both drifted in the ebb and flow of their connection.

In another room.

William was playing checkers with Skyler when Tanya arrived. Seeing her, William excused himself to the balcony for some alone time.

Tanya called Skyler into the room.

Without thinking, Skyler pulled a lollipop from his pocket, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.

He never liked being alone with Tanya because it made him nervous and afraid.

As Tanya moved to close the door, Skyler blocked it, "Auntie, I don't like the door closed"

The bodyguard approached, "Madam, don't worry. I'll stand by the door. I won't eavesdrop. But for Skyler's safety, he must stay within my line of sight.”

Tanya's lips quivered.

She swallowed her words and gestured for the bodyguard to leave.

Once alone, she stroked Skyler's hair, “Skyler, you haven't seen me in so long.

Don't you miss me?"

Skyler scratched his head, "Auntie, I'm really busy playing every day. I don't have time to miss you.” Tanya choked up, "What if one day you can't see me anymore? Would you be sad?"

"Auntie, where are you going?” Skyler asked with feigned indifference.

Tanya's expression turned sorrowful, "I'm sick. One day I might have to report to heaven and won't be able to come back."

Skyler paused, glancing at the sky outside the window, "Auntie, you won't die.

God told me that he'll only come for you when you're a hundred years old."

“If 1 could see you grow up, get married, and have kids, I'd die content,” Tanya said, "Can you fulfill that wish for me?"

Skyler shrank back, still feeting like a child himself, "Auntie, kids can't get married”

Tanya pinched his cheek gently, "You're not a little kid anymore. You're grown up.”

"I'm not grown up; I'll always be a kid. Geoffrey's the grown-up, and you should ask him to get married and have kids."

Tanya glanced at William on the balcony, thinking, “A three-year-old probably wouldn't understand much."

"Skyler, there is no Geoffrey in this world. Geoffrey is a figment of your imagination. Don't talk about him in front of others, or you might end up in a psychiatric hospital for treatment.”

Skyler hummed, "Angel and Leopold believe me. They're not foolish like the others, fooled by you"
