Chapter 668

Today, Skyler and William were gearing up for a picnic in the park.

It was the prime of cherry blossom season, and the pink petals clustered like cotton candy clouds, adorning the treetops in stunning beauty.

They found a cherry blossom tree and spread out their picnic blanket beneath it, unpacking the assortment of sandwiches and fresh lemonade Aurelia had prepared for therm.

Popping open their lemonade, they toasted to the day and each grabbed a roast chicken drumstick. "Angel's roast chicken is the best. I seriously love picnicking,” Skyler said, munching happily.

“We should do this every week,” William suggested with a smile.

"Yeah, let's invite Angel and our cousin next time,” Skyler replied, nodding vigorously.

Just then, a cat's cry pierced the air, a sound so distressing it seemed to hint at abuse.

Skyler leapt to his feet, his blood boiling at the thought. He despised anyone who could harm an animal. His own pet had fallen victim to such a monster before.

"William, let's check it out. Something's wrong with that cat!"

“Right.”

They followed the cries and quickly found their source behind the public restroom, in a secluded corner.

A gaunt man had tied a kitten to a tree and was lashing it with a whip. The cat, bloodied and battered, cried pitifully, much to the man’s twisted delight, provoking a cruel laugh from him. William swiftly pulled out his smartphone and recorded the gruesome scene.

Skyler charged forward and grabbed the man's wrist. “Stop hurting it!"

The man, seeing Skyler's imposing stature, cowered. "What's it to you? It's my cat. Calling the cops won't do squat”

Skyler caught his hands, rendering him completely immobile.

Psychologically speaking, those who hurt animals were often potential murderers, with warped minds, and deep-seated insecurity, only daring to lash out at creatures weaker than themselves. Faced with someone stronger, they were cowards.

Skyler signaled to William.

Understanding the cue, William had his bodyguard rescue the kitten and take it to the nearest vet. Then, William casually twirled a lollipop in front of the man's eyes.

"This cat is called Mittens. She is actually ours. We've been looking everywhere for her. Can't believe you snatched her. Mittens cost my mom a pretty penny, and we've got the receipt. Hitting cats might be a crime, and you hit our cat, violated our property, and that's on you. We're taking Mittens to the vet, and you'll be footing the bill..." He spoke in a peculiar tone, each word uttered incredibly slowly.

The man was visibly rattled, sweat beading on his forehead.

Of course, the cat wasn't his; he'd found it in the park, thinking it was a stray.

Faced with the group of towering figures, the man was on the verge of wetting himself.

He never dared confront anyone formidable. He needed to assert his dominance over these feeble creatures to feel significant.

In their presence, he was a "god" with power over life and death.

His gaze fixed on the lollipop, his eyes growing hazy. Then he began to confess. "I've killed fifteen cats, twenty-five dogs, nineteen rabbits. I love to skin them alive—they don't die instantly. They howl, twitch, and roll in agony, and then I pour boiling water over them... I'm a monster. I need to atone. I'll pay all the vet bills for this cat. For the rest of my money, I'll donate to an animal welfare foundation...”

William instructed him to record a video of his confession.

Like a marionette on strings, the man complied obediently.
