Chapter 636

After dinner, as they walked back, Skyler was still chewing over whether Avery fancied Leah or not. “William, does Avery like Leah?"

William scratched his head, a clear display of his cluelessness.

“Uncle Avery is the dreamboat of a billion girls. If he starts dating, there will be a fan meltdown, and Leah will become the public enemy of his fans.”

Skyler puffed up his cheeks. No one was going to mess with Leah, or Superman would have to lay down the law.

Avery and Leah had jetted off to the set, while William and Skyler followed Arnold back to the hotel room.

Aurelia had also booked a room at the same hotel, but William would stay with Arnold tonight, instead of hanging out with her. Just as she was about to take a breather, Leopold showed up with anger.

Aurelia noticed but ignored it.

“Leopold, you planning on being my shadow now?"

Leopold, with an iron grip, wrapped an arm around her slim waist, his tone bossy, “I don't want you to stay with Arnold. Gotta keep my eyes on you."

She rolled her eyes, not impressed. "Leopold, we're divorced, remember? I'm a free woman. And I sure as heck don't keep tabs on you. Who you mess around with is your business, not mine." Irritation creased Leopold's forehead as he thought, “ She didn’t care, and that meant she didn't care about me."

He had seen how broken she was when Arnold and Lisa tied the knot. Now, with Arnold's divorce on the horizon, she was probably itching to rekindle old flames.

"If you want to, you can keep tabs.”

“I'm not Megan. Don't have the time for that.” Her voice was as cold and sharp as a winter's breeze. She knew her place, and she was no longer his wife, with no right to meddle in his affairs. That was Megan's role.

He could be ruthless and turn his back at any moment. When he wanted a divorce, he hadn't spared a shred of sentiment, and treated her like trash he couldn't wait to get rid of.

That memory was a thorn in her heart, scratching and pricking every time she thought of it, a tangle of resentment she couldnt shake off.

Leopold sighed inwardly. If only she had a sliver of affection for him, she wouldn't be so indifferent. “If one day I truly left, would you even be a little sad?"

She shrugged, her voice as detached as ever, “No, because you've already left."

“I mean completely let you go.” He watched her intently, not wanting to miss any flicker of emotion. Aurelia turned away, walked over to the table, and unscrewed a bottle of water to take a sip.

Sure, she'd be sad, heartbroken, in agony. But what good would that do? It wouldn't change his mind.

Once his mind had changed, nothing could bring it back.

“If you completely leave, I'll just remarry. Everyone moves on. It's not like I'm lacking options, she said.

A sharp pain twinged in Leopold's heart. He knew it would come to this, so how could he ever let her go?

Without her, what was the point of anything?

"If Lever truly leave, it'll be because I'm dead. Then you'll be free. Just be sure to drop by my grave and let me know when you remarry.”

His words hit her like a sucker punch, sending a shiver through her heart. Instinctively, she lifted her hand to cover his mouth.

“Stop with that morbid talk. You're going to live to a hundred at least.”

He held her hand tighter, saying, “What's the point of a long life if you're not beside me?"
