Melissa simply couldn't grasp what Aurelia was going on about, completely out of her depth. “What's with Megan's status? She's high society, born with a silver spoon. You, a nobody, aren't even fit to be her maid.”

“It's not for you to decide whether I'm worthy or not. You better mind your own business before you end up in over your head,’ Aurelia shot back, not wanting to entertain them any longer. She beckoned Yuna and shooed them out.

Melissa glared at her venomously before storming out of the tent.

Once they were gone, Aurelia lost her appetite for games and wandered outside as dusk settled. Megan, in a panic after being bitten by a mosquito, scurried into her tent. Being pregnant, an allergic reaction was the last thing she needed.

Melissa, still fuming from Aurelia's scathing words, was determined to get even for herself and Megan.

After a generous spritz of bug spray, she caught up with Aurelia.

"Don't think just because Kane is the Stirling farnily's firstborn grandson he can challenge Megan. Once her son is born, Kane will have no claim to the Stirling inheritance.”

“The Stirling family has a strict policy of keeping daughters out of family affairs. Who becomes the heir is none of your concern,’ Aurelia retorted

Melissa scoffed, "I'll see to it that Megan's child becomes the heir. That little upstart, Kane, isn't fit to lead”

Aurelia looked at her with a hint of pity and thought, “With that attitude, she is a real disgrace to the Stirling family"

"Have you ever wondered why Jessica won't let Megan be a Stirling? Why did she publicly declare her child illegitimate?"

“That's because you've been stirring the pot,’ Melissa muttered under her breath

Aurelia plucked a wildflower and toyed with it, "You must be familiar with the Twilight Club's Kerry, right?”

Melissa raised an eyebrow, "I know her. Rumor has it she's mixed up with some criminal organization and got arrested. Why bring her up out of the blue?"

“Megan used to work for her, Aurelia revealed.

Melissa was shaken, "Don't slander her."

Aurelia sneered, "Everyone in the Stirling family knows, except you. Why do you think Leopold froze your trust funds? He's worried you'll get sweet-talked by Megan into joining that criminal organization and turn against the Stirlings™"

Melissa was stunned, "You're lying. Megan would never get involved with such people.”

"She disappeared for six years. Do you think she's the same Megan? Even Evelyn is afraid of her now."

Aurelia tore off a petal, speaking leisurely, "Do you realize how dangerous this organization is? They're experts at creating biological weapons, infecting people with deadly pathagens without their knowledge. The reason I ended up in the ICU was because of their poisons.”

“They're also proficient in dark arts like voodoo. You better watch out. If they curse you, you'll be in agony, covered in sores, and it'd be hard not to obey them.”

Melissa shivered, goosebumps all over.

"If that's the case, why doesn't Leopald divorce her?”

“Leopold is hoping she'll turn over a new leaf, out of respect for their past. There's always a chance for redemption. But if she stays on this path, she's playing with fire. This organization is ruthless. With Kerry captured, they've got a new leader known for his voodoo skills. Even Megan's been disciplined with it."

Aurelia glanced around, “For all we know, their agents could be watching us from the woods right now."

Melissa's skin crawled, “Don't scare me like that."

Aurelia whispered, "I'm only sharing this because you're Kane's family. Keep it to yourself, or you might be silenced for good.”
