“Last night, you had your son trick me into heading down to the rocky shore, and I fell there. Then, you took advantage of me being in the hospital and tried to seduce my husband. That's pretty low" William overheard the accusation and puffed up his cheeks indignantly. “Ma'am, you can eat a bad meal and live to tell the tale, but spreading lies is a different story. I didn't trick you. I just said Mom might be out by the rocks. If that's what you call deception, the whole world's full of fibbers.” Aurelia looked at Megan with a smirk playing on her lips. “What's got you so hot and bothered, rushing to find me? Were you worried I might be making out with Leopold and planning to keep tabs on me around the clock?"

Megan rolled her eyes exasperatedly. "Are you going to sit there and tell me you didn't try to put the moves on my husband yesterday?"

Aurelia gave a nonchalant shrug. “Why would I deny it? I never have to chase after any man."

At that moment, Skyler bounded in, his energy palpable as he plopped beside William.

"William, I had the wildest dream last night. We built a gigantic candy house together."

William grinned, his teeth shining. “Let's head to Sweetland Park later and build a real candy house. What do you say?"

"Yeah!" Skyler clapped his hands joyfully, then turned to Megan and stuck out his tonque at her. “Ma’am, why are you still hanging around? Leopold doesn't even like you. Ever since you showed up, he... he doesn't join in on our games. I went to call him for lunch, and he said he didn't want to... didn't want to go to the diner. He wanted to eat in his room, probably because he can't stand seeing you."

Megan felt like a murder of crows had just flown over her head.

"I'm Leopold's wife, not any woman, and for your information, Leopold and I are just fine. He doesn't want to see certain people. That's all.”

Skyler crossed his arms and pouted. “Next time we go out to play, could you... not follow us? We don't want to play with you.”

Megan was seething. “I don't want to play with you all, either. I just want to be with my husband. How about you three taking a hike and let me and my husband have some time alone?"

William stuck out his tongue at her. “If we leave, Uncle Leopold will leave, too. He doesn't want to be stuck with you. You are boring, and no guy wants to be with you."

Megan was livid. She wanted nothing more than to grab that cheeky little brat and shake him senseless. He was a thousand times more annoying than that snake Kane.

Kane was cold as ice and treated her like she was invisible, but this little pest wouldn't stop badgering her, driving her crazy.

"And what makes me so boring?” she snapped.

"You're always buzzing around like a gnat, following Uncle Leopold wherever he goes. When he steps out of the room, you're scouring the world for him like a lunatic. That's way too clingy” William sighed dramatically. “If ever meet a girl like that, I'd give her a one-way ticket to the moon.” Megan felt her sanity fray, a stampede of frustration racing her mind.

“Seriously? Are you only three and a half?"

William contorted his face into a silly expression. “Yup, I'm a prodigy. I know everything. You could never have a kid as smart as me"

Megan glared at him. “My son will be a hundred times smarter than you.”

William sipped his milk, calmly asserting, “Ma“am, I bet you're having a girl.”

“That's nonsense. I've had the test. It's a boy. He'll be the future heir to the Stirling family. If you're not careful, he'll kick you out of the Stirling family” Megan threatened.

"Huh, funny! The heir to the Stirling family will be my brother Kane, so stop daydreaming,” William's eyes glinted with a frosty determination. No one could challenge Kane for his place. William was ready to kick them to the curb or beyond if they dared try.
