Megan was positively fuming. Thank heavens this bastard wasn't Leopold's child. Otherwise, she would've made quick work of him.

"Honey, I love well-behaved kids, and I know our son will be just that!’ she said, caressing her slightly protruding belly.

Leopold didn't respond, yet Aurelia's grip on her fork tightened imperceptibly. In the game of love, whoever falls first loses. Between her and Leopold, she was the one whod lost, but she'd never let him know, not in this lifetime.

Men are much more stonehearted than women.

He didn't want to let her go only because she was still young and pretty. When she got old and withered, he would kick her to the curb without a second thought.

Megan turned on the charm with Leopold. "Darling, could you please pass me the soup?"

Leopold frowned slightly, his face darkening, but he still patiently ladled soup for her.

Aurelia lost her appetite. Everything tasted so sour that she felt like she'd been kicked into a sea of lemons and soaked there for three days and nights, the sourness seeping into every pore.

After William and Skyler had their fill, she stood up. “Skyler, William, shall we go to our rooms?" "Okay." They obediently rose and followed her out.

Aurelia didn't even glance at Leopold, nor did she say goodbye.

Leopold noticed his woman was mad, and he knew the consequences could be severe.

Megan, however, was in high spirits. The more Aurelia stewed, the happier she became because she was the winner.

After exiting the elevator, William headed to Skyler's room to play while Aurelia shut herself in her room, craving her solitude.

Leopold arrived with a steak, knowing she hadn't eaten much earlier.

"What are you doing here?" she snapped without warmth. "Why don’t you go and stay with your wife?"

"Are you not my wife?" he reached to embrace her but she pushed him away. “Back off. Don't touch me."

Damn him, thinking he could have the best of both worlds.

Leopold sighed, “Let's not let Megan come between us, okay?"

Aurelia was speechless. When she was in the ICU, Leopold rekindled his romance with Megan, pressured her for a divorce, and married Megan. How dare he expect her to pretend Megan didn't exist? Did he think she was some saint who could just forgive and forget?

"Mr. Leopold, I'm tired and need to rest. If there's nothing else, I'd appreciate if you could leave, please.”

But Leopold pulled her into his embrace, refusing to let go no matter how much she struggled.

"I hate seeing you upset.”

Aurelia couldn't help but laugh bitterly. She was upset because of him. He was the cause of all this trouble. "I wont be upset if I don't have to see you."

He raised his hand and gently stroked her hair. "Yeah, right. If I didn't come, you'd just be here sulking on your own."

Aurelia snorted. “What do I have to be upset about? Don't flatter yourself. You're nothing to me now. I would've remarried long ago if it weren't for you meddling in my life."

Leopold believed that, so he couldn't let his guard down for a second with her. Aurelia was never under his control, always capable of surprising him and catching him off guard.

"What if I look away and come back to find you've run off?"

Hearing his words, Aurelia chuckled. She dared not harbor too much hope. The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.

She had some disappointments that she couldn't bear, such as being kicked into an abyss or falling from where there would be no survival.

"I think you're just blowing smoke. Let me tell you. You've got two months left. We'll be done for good if you're not back in two months. No looking back.”

"Alright" he nodded. "No pouting now. Sit down and eat your steak. You hardly touched your food earlier: Aurelia couldn't eat. She couldn't swallow the lump of frustration in her throat, which was suffocating her.
