Chapter 393

Aurelia had a seemingly endless dream. She found herself on a bridge, a bridge so long that she couldn't see the end of it. A blanket of fog surrounded her, ominous and terrifying.

She yearned for home, for Kane and William, for her parents, and Avery. She longed for Leopold. She tried to run, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape the bridge.

From the distance, she could hear Leopold's voice. “Aurelia... Aurelia...”

“Leopold... Leopold... I'm here. Come save me!” she cried out with all her might.

Suddenly, a ray of light appeared in the thick fog, growing brighter and brighter like a door opening.

A tall figure emerged from the light which she had recognized.

“Leopold!” Without a second thought, she ran toward the light...

"Aurelia, wake up!” A whimpering voice echoed in her ear. Aurelia weakly opened her eyes. Jolin's anxious face came into focus. Zack, Avery, and Arnold were also there.

“Aurelia, you finally woke up. You scared us to death,” Jolin said, choking back tears.

Arnold reached out, touching her forehead. The fever was gone. “What's bothering you now?" She shook her head. She was weak but otherwise okay. Her gaze swept across the room, searching for Leopold, but he wasn't there nor at the door. Was he too busy at work to

visit?

“Are you looking for William? I didn't tell him about your hospitalization. I was afraid he'd be scared out,” Arnold said.

Aurelia brought back her gaze, managing a weak smile. “I'm okay.”

Over the next few days, her colleagues came to visit, even Beverley. But Leopold was nowhere to be found. It was as if he had forgotten her.

She sensed something was off, and her heart plunged into an abyss, falling with no end.

On the day of her discharge, Kevin came.

"How are you feeling, Mrs. Stirling?”

"Almost recovered. Where's Leopold?” Aurelia asked quickly.

Kevin sighed inwardly. Mr. Leopold visited every night, but he only came to see her after Chapter 599

she had fallen asleep.

He pulled out a stack of papers from his briefcase. “Mr. Leopold told me to give you this.”

Aurelia took the papers and skimmed through them. A wave of pain washed over her like a bolt of lightning, leaving her dizzy and her insides shaking.

Divorce papers! Leopold wanted a divorce?

She couldn't believe her eyes. She even doubted she had read it correctly.

“What does he mean?”

Kevin hated being the bearer of such news. This was the second time he had delivered divorce papers on behalf of Mr. Leopold.

“This... this is Mr. Leopold's decision. If you don't have any objections, please sign as soon as possible.”

Kevin didn't know how to explain further. After saying his piece, he quickly exited the

room.

Aurelia felt drained, collapsing back onto the bed.

She had been fighting death for a week. But, instead of coming to visit her, he even wanted a divorce! Did he think she was sick and going to die, so he didn’t want her anymore?

She couldn't believe how quickly he had changed his tune. Before she fell ill, he was so loving and caring. But he had turned his back on her all of a sudden. How could he be so cold and heartless? Outside the room, Zack, Jolin, and Avery walked in. They were there to take her home from the hospital.

She quickly hid the divorce papers in her bag.

They knew all along. Megan had already spread the news that Leopold was divorcing Aurelia and marrying her throughout the social elite.

They were worried that Aurelia, who was still recovering, wouldn't be able to handle the shock. So they decided to keep it from her.
