Chapter 146

Inside the grand Stirling mansion, Callie, Evelyn's mother, arrived, demanding that Elowen publicly apologize to her daughter.

How could Elara possibly agree?

A public apology would be a direct blow to her daughter's reputation.

Elowen suddenly burst into tears, “I've been falsely accused. I didn't ask the waitress to spill soup on Evelyn. I asked her to spill red wine. I just wanted to embarrass Evelyn, not, burn her and make a scene.”

Leopold leaned against the couch, his expression stern and inscrutable

being wrong?”

“I swear what I'm saying is true,” Elowen sobbed.

“When have you ever admitted to

Leopold let out a cold laugh, “How many times have you sworn an oath before?”

He was tired of these old tricks, and yet she seemed to never tire of them.

Elowen grew frantic, “This time it's true. I really only wanted to spill the wine, not the soup. It must have been the waitress’ own decision, thinking she could earn more money.”

Elara wrapped her arms around her daughter's shoulders, of course she would stand by her daughter's side,

who “I believe what Elowen is saying. There must have been some mix-up. We need to find the person filmed the incident.”

Callie let out a huff, her eyes filled with hate, “Do you remember what she did to Megan? You killed one of my daughters, and you want to harm my other one too? Do you really think the Alcott family can be bullied?”

Elara's face went white, “What happened to Megan had nothing to do with us, don’t make false accusations. As soon as we find the person who filmed the incident and uncover the truth, we will give you an explanation.”

Leopold cast a chilling glance at Elowen, his eyes icy, “Regardless of who filmed it, she started it. She showed no restraint at such a critical event, not only embarrassing herself but also the Stirling family. It seems we may have to wait for her next life to see her become a respectable lady.”

With that, he marched straight up the stairs.

Callie was filled with hatred and anger towards Elowen and her mother. She was still convinced that they were the cause of her elder daughter's death.

“We, the Alcott family, will not let this go. We'll see about this.”

With that, she stormed off.

A flash of fire appeared in Elara’s eyes.

If her daughter misbehaved and harmed her nephew or the Stirling family's reputation, her nephew had the right to call off the engagement.

She could not let this happen.

Not long after Aurelia returned home, Leopold arrived.

She had thought he would be spending the weekend with Evelyn

“Mr. Leopold, don't you have weekend plans?”

He arched an eyebrow, “Do you?”

“No.” She shook her head, “I'm a home staying type. I usually stay in on weekends to binge-watch shows, read books, or paint.”

Leopold also enjoyed his solitude, the quiet moments of being alone.

But recently, he found it a bit boring on his own.

So he decided to spend more time with his children

The fatherly love he never received, he wanted to give back twice as much to his kids.

He reached out a hand, stroking her protruding belly.

Their children seemed to sense his presence, squirming slightly inside her.

Aurelia smiled softly, “The babies know daddy is here.”

A glint of starlight showed in his eyes. His children were indeed extraordinary, displaying intelligence even before birth.

Laura brought over a bowl of soup.

“I bet the kids can't wait for their father to visit every day.”

Aurelia blinked, a hint of mischief in her eyes, “How about this, let Mr. Leopold record his voice. When he’s not here, I can play it for the kids.”

Before she could finish her sentence, Leopold flicked her forehead, “Can a recording replace a real person?” Laura laughed, “Of course not. Isn't it better if the young master comes every day?” Aurelia broke out in a light sweat. She didn’t want him to come every day, because she enjoyed the freedom of being alone.
