At that moment, Fredric strolled in, summoning Leopold to join their uncles for a round of bridge.

Today, only he and Leopold were around, and their side of the family felt decidedly quieter than usual when all were together.

Aurelia chuckled, "Go keep your uncles' company. I'll have a chat with Lisbeth. You wouldn't understand our talks anyway."

Leopold patted her head affectionately and left with Fredric.

Aurelia got Lisbeth a glass of juice and said, "Tomorrow, I'll take you shopping for snew clothes for the holidays. You're

obviously pregnant now, and you need something more comfortable to wear."

"No need, I still have clothes," Lisbeth replied, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. She wasn't in the mood for shopping.

After all, if Raines wasn't around to see her dressed up, what was the point?

Aurelia wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "Here, it's tradition to wear new clothes for the New Year. It symbolizes out with the

old, in with the new, and brings good cheer. I know you're not feeling your best, but we have to stay positive, especially for the

little baby on the way. It's important to keep in good spirits."

Lisbeth took a sip of her juice and nodded, "Alright, I'll follow your lead."

Aurelia picked up an orange, peeling it as she spoke, "Being alone at hcan be tough, so you start overthinking. If you ever get

bored, just cover. We can have stea and chat. I've taken stoff work recently anyway, so I'm always here."

"Why aren't you working? You're a hotshot jewelry designer. Planning to retire early and beca lady of leisure?" Lisbeth teased.

Aurelia explained, "The Stirling family's been through a lot lately. Fredric's gone through another divorce, and the kids are staying

here for now. Jessica's getting on in years, and she can't be burdened with these things anymore. So, I've put my work on hold to

help sort out family affairs."

"I see," Lisbeth smiled faintly, "Playing the matriarch isn't easy. The whole family's troubles end up on your plate."

Aurelia replied, "When Raines comes back, you'll helpout, right? You are my family, after all."

Lisbeth's smile tightened, her expression turning stiff, "Maybe when Raines comes back, he'll want a divorce."

"That won't happen. You're pregnant, and Raines wouldn't leave you," Aurelia reassured her, "Don't be so pessimistic. Trust in

Raines' feelings for you. Sure, he might be upset for a while, but I believe he'll forgive you and accept you back."

She could not truly grasp Raines’ feelings because being betrayed by the one he loved was a deep and painful hurt. It made sense

he might not accept it at first, but if he truly loved Lisbeth, she believed he would caround.

After all, true love conquered all. And that was the best comfort she could offer Lisbeth right now.

Lisbeth looked down, her long eyelashes casting a shadow over her pale eyelids that resembled tears, "Even if Raines hates me,

blames me, can't forgive me, I'll understand. I'm the one who wronged him, who made him suffer so much."

Aurelia sighed softly. The thought of Raines suffering somewhere twisted her heart.

In the Stirling family, Leopold might be the least favored son in Chad's eyes, but as the eldest legitimate child, he was protected by

Jessica and the old patriarch.

Raines, however, seemed to have no one's affection. Elfreda suffered from depression, and he had been deprived of love and care

all his life. The trauma of Elfreda’s injury had left him with memory issues and, likely, a shadow in his heart.

Did he harbor hate for Lisbeth for her deceit and betrayal?

"Leopold will find Raines and bring him hsoon," she assured.

The longer he stayed under the thumb of AK Group, the more danger he was in. And Elfreda, battling depression at her age, was

another concern. They could only hope she would hold on.
