"The poison coursing through your veins was designed not to kill, but to torment. An unmistakable sign that someone didn't want

you dead. Just like the sibling rivalry between Arnold and Leopold for the heir's seat at the family table or their squabbles over

Aurelia. Leopold never took it to the point of no return, which proved he valued the bond of blood over petty feuds. As long as you

don't provoke him, Leopold won't lay a finger on you," Lisbeth explained and Agent A was told in no uncertain terms.

Agent A brooded in silence before asking, "So you think they'll givethe antidote?"

"Probably," Lisbeth nodded, her tone casual. "But we should still have a backup plan. What if it wasn't them? What if it was Skyler's

brother, Geoffrey, the one with a penchant for playing with toxins? Doesn't the AK Group have microbe experts on the payroll?

Maybe it's tto give them a shout to whip up an antidote for you?"

"No need," Agent A gritted his teeth. The destruction of his base had taken the bio-lab with it, obliterating any chance of new

research. Only their previously concocted poisons were left.

Lisbeth suggested, "Should I get in touch with the boss for you? Let him know what's going on so he can send in the cavalry. Lying

around like this isn't helping anyone. Tis not on your side. The doctor said if you don't get the antidote within a month, your

nerves are toast, and you'll be paralyzed for life."

Agent A was livid, his frustration evident as he clenched his jaw.

"Let's wait a couple of days."

He decided to stay put for the moment, waiting to see the enemy's next move.

It was clear to Lisbeth that Agent A didn't trust her to contact the boss, fearing it might expose his whereabouts.

So Agent A was left to stew in his hospital bed, wondering who would lose their cool first. After a spell of silence, an idea struck

Agent A, and he commanded in a grave tone, "This afternoon, get Skyler to chere."

Once Lisbeth was gone, Skyler returned from his classes and headed straight to the hospital. Dressed to the nines in a sleek black

suit, he cut a dashing figure.

"Raines, you wanted to see me?"

"Skyler, are you sure it was Geoffrey who poisoned me?" Agent A's eyes were sharp as daggers.

Skyler blinked innocently, "The poison is potent, alright. Geoffrey cooked it up himself."

Agent A scoffed, "I'm a lawyer, good at reading micro-expressions and body language, better than any psych doctor. I can tell

you're lying. Kids shouldn't lie, you know. Otherwise, their noses will grow."

Skyler touched his perfectly sculpted nose.

"See, no growth. That means I'm telling the truth."

But Agent A's gaze was unforgiving, "I knew it was Aurelia who put you up to this, wasn't it?"

Skyler pouted and stamped his foot in frustration.

"That's too much! Angel's got the lab scrambling for an antidote for you. Here you are, accusing her. That's ingratitude for you,

biting the hand that feeds. I should tell her to stop helping you."

Agent A hummed dismissively, "Skyler, I've got eagle eyes. No matter how good your act is, I can see right through you. Aurelia is

the one pulling your strings, and the antidote is in your hands."

Skyler puffed up his cheeks, indignant, "That's unfair! I hate being falsely accused. At the Stirling family, everyone's kind to me,

including Fredric, Arnold, and Leopold. You're the only mean one. I'll tell Jessica all about how you bully me."

Agent A was speechless. Dealing with a thirty-something man was much more challenging than handling a child.
