"Could it be the boss gave orders behind your back? No way the big cheese and Leopold would be so brazen as to poison you at a

dinner party, right?" asked Lisbeth.

Agent A snorted, "They've already picked their fall guy. They poisonand then claim it was meant for Leopold. I accidentally got

in the way. In the Stirling family, they're top dogs. If they say so, who's gonna argue?"

Lisbeth pondered, "But Skyler said only Geoffrey has access to that poison. Geoffrey is the arch-nemesis of Leopold. Would he team

up with Leopold to target you?"

Agent A rolled his eyes, "Why all the chatter? Skyler is a blockhead for sure, already in their pocket, cooking up false evidence."

"I'm just trying to piece this together so we can find an antidote to save you," Lisbeth insisted. "If it weren't Fredric and Leopold,

but Geoffrey, then we gotta find a way to get that antidote from him. Otherwise, you being paralyzed is bad news."

Agent A was fuming with frustration. He was completely dependent now, a shadow of his former self.

"Skyler is crafty with poisons. It could very well be his handiwork. He must have an antidote. Go find him, and whatever it takes,

get that antidote."

Lisbeth quirked an eyebrow, taunting, "Skyler is just a kid. Is he that good?"

"He may be childish and dim-witted, but he's got skills," Agent A admitted.

Lisbeth realized Agent A knew a thing or two about Skyler.

Typically, eternal Peter Pans like Skyler didn’t get much attention. If they did, they were written off as fools.

To her surprise, Agent A was well aware of Skyler's capabilities.

"Didn't he say that only Geoffrey has the antidote and he couldn't make it?"

"He's lying. Don't let his boyish looks fool you. He's a psych major, a better actor than you'd think."

Lisbeth said, "I couldn't tell. But from what you're saying, he seems even harder to read than the rest."

"Just get on with finding that antidote."

Lisbeth frowned slightly, "What if he doesn't want to give it up?"

Agent A glared at her, "Learn from Aurelia. Sweet-talk him like a child. Get him happy and he'll hand it over."

Truth be told, Lisbeth wasn't keen on fetching the antidote. Agent A being bedridden made her feel safe.

"I'll try, but with someone as unpredictable as Skyler, it's a shot in the dark."

Agent A gave her a chilling look, snapping, "Don't double-cross me. If I don't make it, you and Raines will be the first to pay."

Lisbeth quivered her lips. Her poison was cured, so she wasn't afraid of Agent A anymore. However, Lisbeth couldn't help worrying

for Raines and Elfreda. If she got the antidote, maybe she could negotiate, exchanging the antidote for their safety.

"Don't worry. If Skyler has it, I'll get it unless you're wrong and it was Geoffrey who poisoned you. Then we're in deep trouble."

"I'm never wrong," Agent A stated emphatically.

Outside the hospital room, siblings of the Stirling family and Aurelia approached.

Fredric clapped Leopold on the shoulder, "With so many out to get you, aren't you scared?"

A person in a high position was liable to be attacked.

The thought of the close call with the poison left Fredric shaken. Leopold and Aurelia had dodged death so many times. It was a

miracle they were still kicking.

Leopold shrugged with an easy smile, "Bridge over the troubled water. Nothing to fear."
