Chapter 113

Leopold took a sip of coffee, his eyes sharp and probing. “So what?”

Aurelia plopped down on the couch, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I need to consult with Arno about who would be the best to shoot the ad. I'm pregnant now and can’t be on ads by myself.”

Leopold's brows furrowed, his expression immediately turning cold.

He got her point.

“You're considering Arno for the advertisement?”

"What else can I do? The other team stole our spokesperson. I have to bring in the best production team.”

Aurelia spoke matter-of-factly, “You've always been one to separate business from personal matters. You care about the result, not the process. So, you shouldn't have a problem with this, right?”

A hint of fire flashed in Leopold's eyes.

She was making the first move, leaving him with no room for objection?

He never imagined that the hardest maze he'd ever have to walk would be this woman's tricks!

“Do you think I'm easy to fool?”

"Why would I dare to fool you? The person who could possibly do that is still in my belly, not yet born.”

She rubbed her belly, a playful glint in her eyes. The only one who could surpass the big boss would probably be his child.

Leopold couldn't help but feel both annoyed and amused. He walked over, cup of coffee in hand, looking at her from above, “And if I don't agree?”

Aurelia pointed to her slightly swollen belly, “Mr. Leopold, sibling rivalry isnt healthy. Shouldn't you be setting a good example for the children?”

Leopold set his coffee cup down, leaning in closer, one hand on the armrest of the couch, the other on the back, his gaze dark and threatening. “I've warned you before, don't use the children as a shield.”

A wave of dread washed over her, causing her to instinctively shrink back, “Didn’t you say that prenatal education is important? Even if I don't mention it, it would still subconsciously affect the children. They're going to have your high 1Q, so they'll be more sensitive to their surroundings than most.”

As she spoke, she grabbed his hand and placed it on her belly, “The moment you speak, they stir in my belly. They must hear your voice and know you're their father. If it were anyone else, they wouldn't react.”

“Really?” Leopold's expression softened, a spark of warmth in his eyes.

She nodded vigorously, then sighed, “I bet when you were in the womb, you must've sensed the discord. between your parents. That's probably why you disliked your father from a young age.” Leopold's lips tightened, his expression indicating that she had hit a nerve.

He did hate his father. He had from the moment he was born.

He reached up and flicked her forehead, “Are you living in my mind, knowing so much?”

She stuck her tongue out at him, rubbing her belly, “Daddy, remember to keep the peace.”

Leopold was at a loss for words, feeling like he was being manipulated.

He was at a disadvantage, being outnumbered as three to one.

He sat down, on the couch, taking a small sip of his coffee. His expression returned to its usual cold and stern demeanor, “Don't think you can get away with this.”

Aurelia rolled her eyes. This man was as stubborn as granite, immovable.

“You probably don't know this, but Arno has always envied you. You had a mother, a sister, you were the apple of your family’s eye. But him? Now he doesn't have a mother, a father, or any siblings. He's like an orphan.”

She paused, then added, “As a child, he probably fought with you for fatherly affection. But have you ever thought that it was because in his heart, all he had was his father? He was afraid of losing that love. If even his father didn't love him, what would he do then?”

Leopold fell silent, his eyes darkening, like a deep well that had seen a thousand years, mysterious and unfathomable.
