Every word she spoke was in a chill and casual tone. It was like a casual chat between Inlends, but each word was a reminder to Dorothy of the gap between her and Everett.
Heather would never dig deeper after she finished speaking: she would just casually blabber and then naturally switch to the next topic. Sometimes, it even gave Dorothy the false impression that she was being overly sensitive.
