Chapter 57

Cassie.

A rush of emotions flood through me-desire, longing, regret and hope all mixed together in that one single moment. My heart pounds in my chest non-stop. I place both my palms against his naked chest, but I cannot find the courage or the strength to push him away. The touch of Kayden’s lips on mine ignites a fire within me that I thought was long forgotten.

His hands find their way to my face, cradling it gently as if I am the most precious thing in the world. And in that moment, I really do feel like I was the most precious thing to him. The weight of our past seems to fade away, leaving only the present ―a present where Kayden is finally showing me that he feels something for me, that there is no one else in the world for him but me.

Gently, he starts guiding me towards the bed, his lips never leaving mine.

As we reach the edge of the bed, Kayden lowers me down with a tenderness that I have never known before. His hands roam my body, tracing every curve, igniting a trail of tingling sensations that leave me breathless. His lips find mine once again, and the fire inside me ignites anew. I wrap my arms around him, pulling him closer, wanting to feel his every breath against my skin. His hands slip under my shirt, fanning the heat of our passion even more.

In this moment, I forget everything else-our past, our pain, our broken dreams. All that matters is the sensation of him against me, the rhythm of our breathing, and this intense heat between us.
