In the room. 

Rina was sprawled on the floor, with dirt and stains all over her hair and clothes, looking disheveled like a beggar on the 

street corner. 

She didn’t even furrow her brows despite the injuries on her 

face. 

After a while, she finally got up from the ground and silently walked to the corner of the room. She was sitting down with her knees hugged, her gaze distant. 

On the other side, Mia and Kara woke up naturally after sleeping in. 

By the time they got up, it was already noon, partly because they slept late the previous night. 

“You two are up? Perfect timing, come have brunch.” Scarlet came out carrying food. 

Mia and Kara sat at the table, feeling a bit hungry since they hadn’t had breakfast. 

Looking at the delicious food on the table, they started devouring it. 

“Take your time with the meal.” Scarlet brought two cups of milk and gave one to each of them. 

Kara, with food still in her mouth, mumbled, “Scarlet, why

“You two go ahead, I just had breakfast. I’m not very hungry at the moment. I’ll go clean the dust off the cabinet. I’ll tidy up later after you finish your meal.” Scarlet left with a cloth in her 

hand. 

Mia and Kara ate heartily, and soon the food on the plates was completely gone. 

Feeling satisfied, Kara patted her belly contentedly. 

Mia suddenly looked worried and said, “I wonder how Rina is doing.” 

“Why are you worried? Her father dotes on her!” Kara said nonchalantly, but her tone carried a hint of annoyance. 

Mia’s tightly knitted brows didn’t relax as he shook his head. “Although her father is good to her, her mother isn’t. What if her mother mistreats her again?” 

“That’s true. Her father works during the day and only comes back at night. If her mother takes this opportunity to go back and Rina, being a closed–off person, endures the 

mistreatment without speaking up, it would be really pitiful.” Kara’s expression turned serious and worried. 

After hearing her words, Mia became even more anxious. “Should we call Rina and ask about her situation?” 

“Yes!” Kara nodded. 

Just as they were about to pick up their wristphone to make a call, the phone rang. 

“Bina?” 

Mia and Kara exchanged glances and quickly answered the call. Kara said with delight, “Rina, we didn’t expect you to take the initiative to call us. Just now, Mia and I were thinking of calling you. How are you? Has your wicked mother mistreated you?” 

There was no sound on the other end of the line. 

Kara and Mia exchanged glances again, thinking that the call had been disconnected. They looked at the screen of the wristphone and realized the call was still ongoing, but there was no sound on the phone. 

“Rina, can you hear us?” Mia asked with concern. 

There was still no response on the other end of the line. 

“Rina, is something wrong?” 

“Rina, say something.” 

No matter how Kara and Mia asked, there was still no sound on the phone. 

When they were getting increasingly worried, the call was abruptly disconnected, and they heard the beeping tone from the phone. 

“Mia, do you think something happened to Rina?” Kara, who was usually cheerful and carefree, looked nervous and 

anxious now. 

Mia, acting more like a grown–up, furrowed his brow tightly. 

“Let’s go, Kara. Let’s find Rina.” 

“Yes!”

The two of them left the dining room and glanced secretly upstairs, seeing Scarlet cleaning the handrail of the staircase. 

“Scarlet, Kara and I are going to the outdoor playground for a while to burn off some energy.”

Mia and Kara held hands and ran out of the house. 

In the neighborhood, especially in this upscale villa community, there was a playground for children.
