Chapter 211 

Lizetta fluttered her eyelashes and chuckled, “You know what I was thinking about? There was this one time I tied a tie for you. You still remember that, Remi?” 

Remington’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Of course, he remembered, but that wasn’t what he wanted to hear. 

He felt utterly let down and said coldly, “Nope, forgot.” 

Lizetta smiled bitterly inside. She knew it, he must’ve totally spaced on it. 

After all, it was a decade ago. 

That day was his coming–of–age ceremony. The eldest son of the Dashiell family hitting adulthood was a big deal. 

It signaled that the future helmsman of the Dashiell family was finally stepping up, ready to carry the weight of a new era on his shoulders. 

Naturally, the ceremony had to be grand and filled with pomp. 

The Dashiell family started prepping three months in advance, and that’s when she started bugging Remington about tying his tie on such a significant day.. 

She asked, and he agreed without a second thought. 

For that, she consulted the servants, binge–watched tutorials online, and practiced on dummies, hell–bent on tying the slickest knot for him. 

When the day finally came, he was decked out in a tailored tailcoat, looking all dapper and grown–up, like he’d morphed from a boy to a man overnight. 

She barged in with the tie, seeing the man by the window, and sorta lost her marbles for a sec. He felt unfamiliar yet stirred something naive in her. 

He waved her over with that familiar grin, and she nervously made her way to him, her cheeks all flushed. 

She was a bundle of nerves. She’d been bullied by Hans for two years, and her growth spurt kicked in late, looking like a little girl even in middle school. 

She stood on tiptoes, practically jumping, still couldn’t reach Remington’s neck to loop the tie around. 

The servants snickered on the side, and her face went tomato red. 

“Remi, you’re doing this on purpose! Bend down a bit!” she whined, almost in tears. 

He burst out laughing then finally bent down. 

But not the way she expected. He scooped her up instead, raising an eyebrow.

“Alright, I’ll stop teasing.” 

She had practiced well, but for some reason, she was a mess and tied it twice. 

Hanna, getting antsy, came to check and blew a gasket at the scene. 

“What the hell are you doing! Put her down, I’ll do it.” 

She hung her head in shame and frustration, but Remington didn’t put her down. Instead, he hugged her tighter and said, 

“Take your time, no rush.” 

She still remembered his indulgent tone that day. 

Her spirits lifted, and she mustered up the courage to keep going with the tie. 

Hanna fumed, “Since when does a sister tie her brother’s tie? That’s a wife’s job. Your future wife won’t be happy to hear this. There’s no blood relation.” 

But Remington cut her off with a sharp look. 

He said nonchalantly, “Mom, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. If my wife can’t tolerate Liz, we’re better off without her. Besides, I am fine with my sister tying it, for a lifetime if need be, and who’s gonna argue?” 

His words left Hanna with a headache, and she stormed out. 

But later on. 

She became his wife, and he became the man who wouldn’t come home. 

Lizetta never imagined that as his wife, the only time she’d tie his tie would be the day of their divorce. 

So now, she did it with care and took her sweet time. 

Like a kid about to go wandering, savoring the last precious piece of cake on the sly. 

But Remington suddenly reached out, yanked the tie from Lizetta’s hands, and said coldly, “Enough. If you don’t wanna be Mrs. Dashiell, then don’t do what my wife’s supposed to 

do.” 

With that, Remington swung open the car door and hopped out first. 

Lizetta felt the silky tie slip through her fingers. She instinctively clenched her hand but caught nothing. 

Cedric showed up pretty quick, and as soon as Remington got what he needed, they entered the hall together.
