Just a moment ago, I almost thought that I would become that unlucky strawberry.

"Are you sure? I think you're quite the daring one! Young people nowadays really have no conscience. When they need you, they'll come to you eight times a day, almost begging each time. But once they become successful and famous, they'll kick you away without hesitation.

"What kind of society is this? Respecting the elders and valuing education has completely become just a meaningless phrase."

The professor exaggeratedly pounded his chest and stomped his feet. He even squeezed out two tears from the corners of his eyes. It was as if once I uttered one more word of refusal, I would become the ungrateful student deserving of punishment.

"I definitely didn't mean that, but you can't just force it on me, right? I'm just thinking about your reputation.

"Professor, think about it. I'm your apprentice. If I reluctantly do something uncertain and it goes wrong, both your reputation and ability to judge people would also be questioned, right? If that happens, how will you find more students like me, right?"

I was appealing to his emotions and reasoning, but the professor didn't buy it at all.

He slammed his hand on the desk, making the papers and pens fly. I was startled in place.

When did the professor become so irritable and violent? This was terrifying.

"Don't talk back to me! Let me make it clear to you. If our students don't bag the top three in the competition, it'll be all on you no matter the reason. Now, shut your mouth and go do what you need to do. Get out!"

So, in the presence of about a dozen teachers in the spacious office, I left with a sense of silent indignation.

The office was around the corner next to the stairs. After getting kicked out of the office, I had a grim expression as I walked toward the stairs. Just as I turned the corner, I saw Winston leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets. He was looking at me with a mischievous smirk.

Damn it, he was laughing at me!

I instinctively turned my head to look at the clear sky outside.

The fall weather was refreshing, with blue skies and white clouds. The sun hung high. Everything seemed to be very normal.

It seemed that I was the one being abnormal.

I couldn't be bothered to deal with the capricious Winston, so I pretended not to notice him and continued on my way. I ignored him completely.

He didn't seem to mind either. He just followed behind me at a distance, the rhythmic sound of his heels hitting the stairs sounding very pronounced.

After stepping out of the building and breathing in the cool air, my mood improved considerably.

Of course, there were still worries, but I didn't want to think about those now.

At that moment, there were about five or six freshmen coming toward me as they laughed and joked around.

I had substituted in a few of their classes at the professor's request, and I got along well with them due to our similar ages. Now, whenever they saw me, they would come over to greet me cheerfully. At first, they would address me as Ms. Lawson, which I didn't like. So, they changed it to Ms. Luna.

Honestly, I would prefer if they just called me Luna. It sounded friendlier.

But these stubborn kids insisted on having a teacher-and-student relationship with me. They unanimously decided to call me Ms. Luna.

Their way of addressing me made me feel like I was some kind of professional assistant.
