Chapter 31 - Choices ...

Lucian

Alpha Damian Kristof and I have a past. He is half wolf half demon. His father was the alpha of the pack and his mate a demon. He is half my age, but we used to be very good friends. What happened to us is that I started looking for my mate, while he still wanted to enjoy life as he puts it, and this got us to different places.

We did not have a fall out. The thing is he is a player. He even has a playbook with all of his conquests. While Lucca is more like me, he was searching for his beloved for a long time. And I am sure that he will protect Rose with his own life if it comes to it. I am not going to make her angry at me. She is the one to decide, as long as I have her, I am happy. I need Rose!

Lucca

Who is he to tell me to take it slow? Lucian knows how long I have been searching and waiting for my beloved.

I just found her. I am so mad at him. After all we have been through. He knows me. Or at least I thought he did. Seems like this time we spent apart has made us like strangers.

Is he jealous? Maybe.

Her voice is like honey. I can listen to her voice anytime.

„Hello mates.” Rose said. And for a second, I forgot I was upset. I forgot completely that I was mad at Lucian. It was just her that I saw.

„Hello little mate.” I smiled at her.

She looks at Lucian who is just looking at her. No expression. No words.

Rose

Lucca is so cute, he is muscular and well built, but not like Lucian. Where Lucca has broad shoulders like a bodybuilder, Lucian has it natural. And also, the height different, it is not that much visible but I can tell Lucian is a little taller.

„Hello little mate.” Lucca said and smiled at me.

My attention goes to Lucian who is just looking at me. He is not saying anything, and this makes me feel very uncomfortable. I feel like they had an argument.

„If you don’t mind Lucca, but can I talk to Lucian alone?!” I said, my throat hurt from all the vomiting and the last word came out hoarse.

Lucca smiled at me with sad eyes, and with no word left the room. Leaving me alone with Lucian.

„Hey.” I spoke to Lucian.

„I am sorry. It is all my fault.” Lucian said, his eyes were looking anywhere but at me.

„Come here. Please…” I asked him. I even have the puppy-eyes he can’t resist. But like a little kid he refused, so I patted the place on the bed next to me and waited for him.

„Listen to me Lu, and listen well! I adore you with all my heart. I might get angry and hurt. But I know that you mean the best for me. You would never hurt me on purpose.” I told him with calm and honesty.

Lucian said nothing and just kissed me. He started soft, like he was afraid of breaking me. Slowly I responded to the kiss and it got hungry, steamy. I straddled him, and he held me by my waist, slowly inching down.

He stopped the kiss and looked at me.

„You are my everything!” Lucian, the big demon has a soft spot and it is me.

I hugged him and he held me breathing in my scent.

Lucca

I am such an idiot. I know I should not have listened on their conversation but … I was curious.

„Listen to me Lu, and listen well. I adore you with all my heart. I might get angry and hurt. But I know that you mean the best for me. You would never hurt me on purpose.” Rose told Lucian and this broke my heart. But I know that they are together for some time now. And if Rose hadn’t gotten sick, they would have not been here.

I want Rose to feel the same for me. I just waited for them to have their moment not moving from my place in front of the door. I am usually savage and overprotective, my sister Eloisa would say about me.

Rose

I kissed Lucian one more time on the lips. And got off of him.

„Lucca, please come inside. I know you have been listening to our conversation.” I said with a smile on my face.

Busted.

Lucca opened the door slowly. And peeked. Like a little boy waiting to be scolded by his parents.

„I am sorry. I was curious and I need to be close to you or I might go savage…. And …” Lucca said.

„I know Lucca.” I said, trying to make him feel better. But I don’t know him and I feel soo awkward and clumsy.

„I am…” I wanted to explain but was lost for words.

„She is something. But we will have enough time to update you on what you missed. Maybe…” Lucian said with a grin on his face, winking at me like a little devil. I have a feeling he is going to tease the hell out of Lucca.

„Uhm … Ok … So … Rose … I …” Lucca is cute when he gets like this. Even though I know him for minutes. But it will be a long road before I can trust him. Not after what happened.

I have to admit that I am childlike. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. I just have to get better at reading people and others. I get it, I got in lots of trouble for being too trusting but that also got me Lucian. So, I am happy to embrace the good and to learn from the bad.

„Lucca?” I was waiting for him to look at me, and when he did, I patted the bed on the other side of me.

He sat next to me and brushed his hand on mine. I could feel sparks but not as intense as with Lucian.

„I want to tell you why Lucian is mad at me. We used to be friends. Best friends.” Lucca started and I nodded for him to continue.

Lucian was holding my hand and I was resting my back on him.

„We go way back. Because I am an ancient vampire, I am actually older than he is. That makes me immortal also. We used to spend a large amount of time together because in the past hybrids were considered lower than the lowest and were not accepted as full members. He was an outcast and I felt like him even if I am an ancient. Never felt like home with my kind. As time passed, he wanted to start searching for his mate but I had other plans. And we kind of drifted apart. He is right to be mad at me. Because I have no excuses. Please do not reject me, Rose.” Lucca said in one breath, closing his eyes but after some seconds he looked at me, waiting.

I have no words.

I only cupped his face with one free hand and he leaned into my touch.

„I am not going to reject you. I know what can happen if I do it. But …” I said and made a pause because memories of Matteo started to pour in.

Lucian circled my waist in his arms and started to kiss my neck. I think he felt what I was going through.

Lucca just looked at me. I guess he doesn’t know what happened.

„Lucca, you are one of my mates.” I said and he looked surprised.

„I …” Lucca wanted to say something but closed his mouth without any more words, I can’t do it right now. It is too much.

I turned around and circled Lucian’s neck, he tightened his arms around me. I could feel Lucca trying to calm me, wanting to touch me…

„Rose, I will leave you with Lucian and come back later.” Lucca said, but my voice would not cooperate with me.

„I will ask for you when she feels better.” Lucian said.
