Rivers of blood and sand
Afterword & Bonus scene

Thank you so much for reading the third book in my series. You have no idea how much this means to me. I am so excited to finally reveal who it will be about. You may have already guessed it. The book will be about Harmony and Parker. To get you guys excited about the book, I thought I’d share a bonus scene from when Harmony and Parker first met before the events of book two.

Early morning light warmed my skin as I walked through town, passing only a few Mythics on my way home. Despite the calm serenity of the morning and how peaceful the town was without all of the bustling Mythics, I was in a horrible mood. The sort where I was ready to snap at anyone who looked at me funny—good thing there was hardly anyone out. It was what tended to happen when I had a lack of release. Seeing as how I was coming home from spending the night with a guy, my frustration was tenfold.

When I danced with the summoner in the club last night, we had so much chemistry I was expecting—excited—for several orgasms. But instead, I was left with nothing but disappointment. It seemed he was the type who only cared if he got off and about his own enjoyment.

Letting out a long and defeated sigh, I ran my fingers through my hair. It was slightly tangled and disheveled—normally, I didn’t care especially if it was the result of great sex. Now, my messy hair was just being a liar, making people think I was coming home from a great night.

If this happened a couple of weeks ago, I would’ve waited until Jade dragged her ass out of bed and given her and Ari a play-by-play of it. They would’ve laughed, made funny comments that would in turn make me laugh and feel better about this whole situation. But I couldn’t do that anymore.

We agreed we wouldn’t bring up anything that would make her think of Koa, and while bad sex definitely wouldn’t make her think of him, I still didn’t want to risk it. Her emotions had been all over the place this week. One minute she’d seem fine and back to her old self, and the next she’d be ready to punch someone in the face. The worst was when she randomly started crying and tried holding it back until she hurried to her room. Talking about sex could send her over the edge.

“You must be one of the roommates I’ve yet to meet.” I hadn’t been paying attention to my surroundings, having not expected any of our neighbors to be out this early. It felt like my heart had leaped into my throat as I spun around. The man was less than ten feet away and I chastised myself for being so distracted, allowing him to get this close without noticing. My audible gasp as I clutched at my chest was a little embarrassing, especially when I got a good look at him.

The man was tall and I’d put him a few inches taller than Ander. He was wearing workout clothes; sweatpants, and a tank top that gave me a clear view of his well-muscled arms and tanned skin. His dirty blonde hair was pulled back in a low bun, showing off the sharp planes of his chiseled face. Light brown eyes gave me a slow perusal, the morning sun showed off flecks of gold. His full biteable lips were lifting in a slow smile that had my stomach tightening.

Essentially, he was the last thing I needed to see after having an underwhelming and unsatisfying night. My body was already over-sensitive and aching for a release. I didn’t need this gorgeous fucking man stirring up my body, reminding me of how uncomfortable I still felt.

“Who are you?” My overwhelming need to get in my shower and crank the water to freezing had my response more blunt than usual. Part of me was afraid that if I stood in the presence of this man for much longer I’d end up throwing myself at him.

He wasn’t the least bit offended by my bluntness. His smile grew as his eyes gave a slow scan of my body. Rather than be grossed out by his perusal, my body came alive, almost like pure electricity and fire was pounding through my veins. My body was all but saying it wanted its needs to be fulfilled by him. I didn’t give in to my body’s needs and wrapped my arms over my chest as if they could shield me from him.

“Clearly you aren’t also out for a morning run,” he said, his smirk remaining as he gestured at my clothes.

Yeah, most didn’t wear a maxi dress when working out.

I’d been distracted by glancing down at my outfit, and when I looked up, he had moved closer so that he was only a few feet away. He was over a head taller than me and as a result, I had to crane my head back. “The only problem I see, is you don’t have that just-fucked look,” he murmured, eyes heating as they held me captive.

For some reason, his words irritated me and had my jaw nearly dropping from his audacity to blatantly call me out like this. Pair that with the growing desire and uncomfortable need of release, and I was downright pissy. “I don’t? Huh. You must not have much experience then.”

He bent his head closer, his mouth only a few inches away from my ear, sending heat low in my stomach as arousal pooled in my panties. “I’m very aware of what a satisfied woman looks like, and you don’t have that look.”

It was weird, he was equal parts pissing me off and sending my body into overdrive with his proximity, and I wasn’t sure which emotion would win out in the end. I gave him a once over as I pasted an unimpressed expression on my face. “Mmm, I don’t see it.”

The smirk had yet to leave his lips as he met my gaze again. “No? So if I reach up this dress, I won’t find a wet pussy? You don’t want me to fuck you until you can’t walk?” His warm breath brushed over my lips, his mouth only a foot away from mine.

A shudder ran through my body that I struggled to hide as my core clenched. His blunt words shocked me, but what surprised me more was how my body was thrumming with desire, craving him to follow through. Normally, dirty talk was one of my biggest turn-offs, but there was something about his voice and sinful lips speaking those words that had me soaked.

Not that I’d admit that to him. He already had too much arrogance.

“Is this how you’ve been introducing yourself to everyone? Getting all up in their personal space and being a creep?” An absolute lie, there wasn’t a single fiber of my being that found this sexy man creepy. An arrogant asshole? Yes. But not creepy.

I had tried to keep my voice sounding bored, but there was a slight edge to it. Placing my hand on his firm chest, I was surprised when he stepped back easily and allowed me to walk around him.

“Only with you, red, only with you,” he called out after me as I walked up the front steps of my house.

I glanced at him over my shoulder, still finding him standing on the walkway, watching me with that infuriating and sexy smirk. “Find a better nickname, that’s lame,” I tossed out as I turned away. His answering chuckle followed me as I entered the front door.
