Chapter 42. 

Nelly’s POV. 

As the hot water cascaded over my skin, the image of Alpha Kex’s furious expression flashed before my eyes. 

I had braced, my mind raced and for the worst. But then, he simply turned and walked away, as if I didn’t even exist. I felt a stab of pain in my heart. 

I’ll admit, I couldn’t help but feel that there was something cursed about this place. Every time I started to feel even the slightest bit of happiness, it was as if something- 

or someone was there to ruin it. 

I thought of Alpha Kex, and how his anger and frustration seemed to have become a constant presence in my life. And then there was Emily the witch, always finding a way to put a damper on things, no matter how hard I tried to avoid her. It was like she was determined to make my life as miserable as possible. 

I stepped out of the bathroom, my hair dripping wet. I opened the wardrobe and rifled through the contents, finally landing on the garment I was looking for – a black, lacy nightgown that I had bought on a whim. 

I pulled it out, feeling the fabric between my fingers. I put on the nightgown, its plunging n*eckline revealing a generous amount of cleavage. The fabric clung to my b*dy, accentuating my curves. 

The dress was sleeveless, the fabric falling just above my thighs. I let my hair down, the wet strands cascading over my shoulders. I spritzed myself with my favorite perfume and stepped out of the room. 

As I made my way down the hall, stopping in front of Alpha, Kex’s door. I knocked once, softly. 

“Go away,” I heard him say, but I ignored him and knocked again, this time harder. 

“Didn’t you hear me?” he said, his voice muffled by the door. 

I opened my mouth to respond, but the words died on my l*ps as he opened the door. He looked me up and down, his eyes lingering on my figure. I felt my face flush as I stood there, feeling exposed under his scrutiny. 

Alpha Kex grabbed me by the arm, pulling me into the room and pinning me against the wall. I felt the cool stone against my back as he leaned in close, his breath hot on my n*eck.

“I don’t like people looking at what’s mine,” he growled, his eyes flashing with anger. “How dare you leave your room like this?” 

I felt my heart racing, my mind whirling with fear and something else something I couldn’t quite identify. I could feel my b*dy heating up, and I was suddenly very aware of how close he was to me. 

“I came to apologize for Aisha’s behavior,” I said, my voice shaking. But he just looked at me, his eyes dark with something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. 

“Did you come to apologize, or are you here to seduce me?” he asked, his voice low and seductive. 

I felt my cheeks burning as I stood there, unable to look away from him. I didn’t know what to say, so I just stood there, frozen in place. 

His l*ps crashed into mine, a rough, hungry k*ss that took my breath away. His hands. gripped my waist, pulling me closer. I could feel his anger and frustration, but I didn’t 

care. 

I returned his k*ss, my emotions rising to the surface. I felt my b*dy begin to respond, my heart racing and my breath quickening. 

He pulled away from the k*ss, his fingers trailing over my cheeks. His voice was low and teasing as he asked, “How should I punish you for putting up an attitude today?”

I knew he was enjoying this, and it only made me more determined to defy him. 

“Answer me,” he said, with a sly smile

I shook my head, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a response. But then I felt his hands trail up my thighs, his touch sending electric tingles through my b*dy. My eyes remained closed, my heart pounding in my chest. 

“Open your eyes,” he whispered in my ear, his hot breath sending shivers down my spine. 

I did as he asked, my eyes meeting his gaze, which was smoldering with desire.

He leaned in close to me, his warm breath on my n*eck, making me shiver. Just when I thought he was about to continue, he reached for a towel and began to whistle a jaunty tune. I felt a rush of rage and frustration, my blood boiling. 

I stamped my foot on the floor, my temper flaring. I glared at him, my hands balled into fists. He chuckled, the corner of his mouth curling up in a smile. 

“That’s your punishment,” he said, the mischief in his eyes maddening me further.
