Ch 4

Tarnac pov

It’s been a couple days and today is Trinity’s eighteenth birthday. I couldn’t get dressed fast enough to get over to the hospital. When I arrived though I saw them starting to get packed up getting ready to go home while inside the room. I opened the door and knew in a split second. She wasn’t my mate. I see her start crying when I walk over picking her up to hold.

“I’m so sorry Trinity. I will wait to see if you find your mate within the next week. If you don’t, and want to be my choice mate I’ll make the decision then. But for right now I need to stay away.”

I set her down, kissing her head and just turned to walk away. I can hear her crying while screaming after me and Antar says he doesn’t care about what the pack thinks. As much as I agree we have to do things by the book. Alpha Triston is showing up today with the oracle, and will hope to have some answers. I hear screaming and crying from behind me when I spin around and see Trinity slowly walking along with her mom trying to help her.

I know I shouldn’t but I quickly run back towards her and the moment I get close enough to her I pick her up to carry her back to their house. She just clings to me while we walk and I talk softly to her.

“Alpha, did I make you mad? I promise I won’t make you mad.”

“Trinity, you didn’t make me mad. You could never make me mad. There are certain rules and procedures that have to be followed. Especially if an Alpha wants to take on a chosen mate. I have to allow you the opportunity to find your mate. If after a week no mate is found then and only then can I choose you as a mate. If I could do it right now I would mark you in a heartbeat. I have rules I have to follow. I hope you understand. In a couple hours Alpha Triston will be here to witness me hand down Raston’s sentence.”

I walk with them to their house when her mother motions for me to set her on the couch. I place my hand on her cheek and she just stares at me when tears fall down her face. It’s killing me to not do anything, but I’m not her mate. At least not yet.

“Even Alpha’s have rules that must be followed. I will get you in a few hours when we are ready to hand down Raston’s sentence.”

The moment I mentioned his name she started trembling, turning to face the couch and burying her face. I took that moment as my cue to get out now before I make a mistake that I wouldn’t be able to take back. I exit the house when I get a mind link from the border that Triston is making his way onto the territory. When I get to the pack house they are just pulling up when I see a woman all in white get out smiling. I motion for them to follow me into my office.

When I sit down I see this woman just smile at me which makes me uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. When Tristen sits down he goes to say something. When she blurts something out.

“Alpha, it will all work out don’t worry.”

“What will? I don’t understand.”

She just shrugs her shoulders and starts mumbling to herself when I look over at Tristen.

“Sometimes she says stuff that we don’t always understand ourselves.”

“Ok then. So I’m planning on having chairs set up and the whole pack witness this to have people understand I will not tolerate this in no way, shape, or form. I will have Trinity sit to the side and hand down my sentence which will be death.”

When I mentioned Trinity’s name the oracle smiled and giggled to herself. Then went back to mumbling again.

I go to say something to Tristin when I get a mind link from the guards that are at Raston’s house. They can hear stuff being thrown around inside, but don’t know what’s going on. They have guards coming to help out if needed. I stand up motioning for them to follow me when we run towards his house. It only takes a few minutes and when we approach the oracle stops in her tracks hissing at the house.

“Oracle what’s wrong?”

She just stares at the house when I can’t wait to see what she’s going to say. I run up and barge through the door and see him standing there with his chest heaving up and down. I call the guards to get silver cuffs, and at that moment Raston charges straight at me. I run right towards him and we clash, throwing punches and fighting with each other. I get him in a bear hug when the guards finally get his hand into the cuffs. At least I know I’m training my men right! He was a hard fucker to take down.

I mind link for everyone to get ready and get the training area set up with chairs for those that need them. All pack members need to be in attendance. I tell the guards to hold him until everything is set up. I’m going to go get Trinity and bring her to a chair to witness the sentencing. I walk outside when the oracle stops me with her hand.

“Don’t get mad.”

“About what Oracle?”

She starts mumbling when I start running over to Trinity’s. Her mom lets us in when we say we are bumping up the sentencing. Nothing could have prepared me for what I was going to see when I turned the corner. The moment I turned the corner she had a huge smile when it left her face.

“Alpha, why do you smell like my mate? I don’t understand.”

In that split second my heart sank. I knew who her mate was, and all I saw was red. I started seething through my teeth when I felt a hand on my arm calming me down. I snap my head and see the oracle looking at me.

“Don’t get mad, it will work out.”

I just stare at her when she looks over to Trinity smiling. I’m trying to keep my shit together, but I just want to scream. I’m about to carry out a death sentence on her mate. The worst part is she doesn’t even know it’s Raston. The man who almost beat her to death is her fucking mate. Wait till he gets a whiff of her. Oh the look on his face knowing the woman he almost killed is his mate.

I get the thoughts out of my head when I walk over to pick Trinity up so she doesn’t have to walk, but she starts to back up on the couch.

“Who is it, Alpha? Tell me who it is.”

“You will find out soon enough. Let’s just get this going and we will see what happens.”

I have to trust what the oracle said that it will all work out. Don’t get mad. She lets me pick her up when she snuggles into me just smelling her mates scent. I’m absolutely disgusted because I know it’s not because of me. It’s because of him.

When we make it to the field I have a chair for her to sit in a few feet away from mine. Pack members are lined up on each side of the field when everyone takes their spot. I mind link for the guards to bring out Raston. I stand watching Trinity out of the corner of my eye when I see the guards are forcing him to walk forward. I put my hand up to have them stop when I see Trinity perk up smiling. No doubt she has caught his scent. She looks around but her vision is blocked by pack members from seeing who it is.

I watch her slowly get up to walk to the middle of everyone so she can see who her mate is. When I motion for them to come forward. I see him stiffen up smelling the air and starts getting difficult by thrashing around. I motion for more guards to help to keep him walking. When she walks to the center and looks over she just drops to the ground screaming. I see the oracle rush over to her trying to get her to relax and stay calm.

“No! Anyone but him!”

I see him try and fight seething through his teeth. As much as she hates who it is, our instincts take over and we just want to be close to our mate. I watch her start crawling towards him when he growls at her bearing his teeth. When she starts getting close he tries kicking at her, and the oracle pulls her back just in time. My heart is breaking because I don’t want to be here right now. I don’t want to watch this but I’m the Alpha. I let out a growl getting everyone to quiet down when I just need to think for a moment. I’m trying to process the situation when I hear something I wasn’t expecting to happen.

“Of all people to be my fucking mate, it’s you! You low life piece of trash. I Raston Warner, reject you, Trinity Samson as my mate!”

I just stare in shock when he lets out a growl and she starts screaming clutching her chest. She is writhing around when some women pack members pull her back trying to comfort her.

“I should have fucking killed you and finished the job you piece of trash. All you are is a waste of space and a weakling in this pack.”

“You Raston have attacked a pack member almost killing them. I have decided to hand down your sentence which will be death.”

I see him fight with guards smirking when he throws something down and there’s an explosion throwing everyone off their feet. One minute I’m standing there then all of a sudden I’m on the ground. My head is pounding when I push myself up and see the guards trying to get up. Where the fuck did he go? I start screaming out orders to find him immediately when I see the oracle with Trinity.

I rush over and sit down picking up Trinity off the ground holding her to my chest barking orders. I just keep rocking her when my emotions get to me and a tear escapes. I feel it wiped away when I look at who did it. The oracle just stares at me smiling when she places her hand over my heart. I feel a sharp pain go through it that I let out a growl that shakes the ground.

All of a sudden I caught the most amazing scent of apple and cinnamon and looked down at Trinity. I thought there’s no way it’s her. I look up at the oracle when she just smiles at me.

“It will all work out. She is very special, and you know it. She needs someone who will and can protect her.”

I look back down to Trinity when I lean down and just inhale her scent. The smell is amazing and I can’t get enough. I want her next to me every minute of every day. I feel her start to shift in my arms when I look down and she looks back at me in shock. She turns her head leaning into me breathing in deep when she starts crying. We must have sat for some time, because soon Triston pats my shoulder. I get up holding Trinity to me because I don’t want to let her go.

“Funny how fast second chance mates can happen. The oracle and I will be leaving. I hope you can find that jackass and take care of him. If we see him come to our territory we will let you know.”

I just nod my head when they turn to leave. The oracle looks at Trinity placing her hand on her head. I see Trinity nod and snuggle into me just breathing in my scent. I decide that I need to solidify this bond quickly because I’m afraid it will go away.
