Clair

It became increasingly difficult for me to be close to Arthur without kissing him, it was almost as if my body did everything on its own.

My hands were on his chest.

And what a chest.

Just seeing him without a shirt made my heart race, I raised my hands to the back of Arthur's head and pulled him closer, he smiled with our lips still pressed together, before his tongue invaded my mouth and wrapped itself in mine, and then his hand, which was on my waist, went down lightly to my ass.

Every touch of his was electrifying, it was a shock in my body and all this shock went directly to the middle of my legs, it came to my memory this morning, and as if Arthur read my mind, his hand traced the same path on my side of my leg, which made the intensity of our kiss increase. With Arthur it was like my brain shut down, it was like no plan or strategy mattered, it was like Arthur was my salvation, and I just couldn't help myself when I was with him.

Arthur's hand went to the hem of my dress and slowly went up the inside of my thigh, making the fabric accumulate with every inch he went up, and with every shiver his fingers brought me, I became more breathless, and my heart raced even more. He got to my panties and stopped kissing me at the same moment he moved the fabric to the side, I looked at him panting, it was as if he was reading my face, waiting for a sign to continue, and teasing me, he asked.

"If you don't want to, I'll stop here." His words hit my ears and I swallowed hard before responding.

"You wouldn't dare stop now," I said without looking away from his.

"Not even." His voice was broken, hoarse, hitched, as if his body was in too much desire, to speak.

And then his fingers touched me, in my most sensitive spot, making me moan from the back of my throat, my eyes almost closed from the shock of pleasure that hit me, and I held tight to his neck when I felt my knees weaken. I felt his thumb making circular movements when one of his fingers passed slowly over my slit, and he introduced it slowly, little by little, as if he was hoping to we both absorb all the sensations.

"Alpha Clair, I think we can go." David's voice was from afar, but it was enough for Arthur to let go of me, and I took a step back.

Arthur and I turned towards the hallway, and I ran my hand over my dress, straightening it, while Arthur used the towel to wipe his face and hide it.

"If I had known he would do this I wouldn't have let him come," I said sighing, but it was more of an internal confession, a loud thought, but Arthur heard it, he turned slightly to me as a laugh escaped his lips.

We saw David and Monica enter the room.

"Alpha," Monica said as she handed Arthur a glass of smoothie.

"Thanks, Mo," Arthur said, receiving the glass and already taking a few sips.

"We need to finish tomorrow's preparations," David told me, and I knew it was for my good, but I hated the way he tried to order things.

Arthur almost choked on the smoothie.

"Are you going to keep up the race tomorrow?" Arthur asked me, turning his body completely towards me.

"Yes, we talked to the guard, we increased security, but we're going to keep the games going. It's the last test before my ordination." I replied firmly to him.

"Clair, isn't it too risky?" Arthur asked me now, holding my chin, lifting my gaze to meet his, and in his narrow green eyes I saw concern, I saw fear, fear for me.

"I will have a great protector with me, I have nothing to fear," I said firmly, looking at him and smiling, he smiled back, but that didn't erase the concern in his eyes.

"Clair, they tried to kill you," Arthur said again, almost a warning.

"I can't cancel the last game, I'm only going to take over once, it's something important. We've reinforced security, everything will be fine." I said with all the firmness I had in my voice. I wanted him to understand that everything was okay.

"I have summoned all the men, Beta Jackson is helping me, and we will cover the entire forest area, there will be no risk," David added, but Arthur didn't even look at him, his eyes never left mine.

"I just need to..." Arthur sighed. "I want you to be okay." He completed.

"I will," I replied smiling. "But I really need to go. I have some inauguration details to finalize. See you tomorrow at the race."

"Of course, I have my last medal to win," Arthur said smiling. "Clair." He said further, calling me before I left. "My father went for another medication session today, could you..." I didn't even let him finish speaking.

"Organize a very comfortable and safe chair for him at the finish line, so he can be my referee once again? Of course, I can." I said before he finished, smiling, and then I left.

The inauguration was the day after tomorrow, tomorrow afternoon we would have the race, and after it was finished, I would be ready to take over, after midnight I would legally be the Alpha of the Pack, we would just have a small ceremony, just symbolic of my father passing the position on to me, but in less than 48 hours I would already be Alpha Clair, the first female Alpha to take over a Pack by herself, changing history, making the impossible happen.

As soon as we got in the car to go back, David couldn't stop looking at me.

"You look weird around him, did something happen?" David asked me and even though he was my best friend, I would never tell him what happened.

"Nothing, David," I responded by throwing my hair back and looking at the scenery outside the car.

"You two kissed, didn't you?" David insisted I loved him, but lately, he was being a huge pain in the ass.

"Also." I knew it would be easier to just assume.

"Clair, if you plan on rejecting him, why spend time with him, kissing him? Wouldn't it be easier to just walk away?" David asked me with his firm tone, that tone that sounded like an order. That tone irritated me, he was head of the guard, and he ordered the guards, but I was his Alpha.

But there, I knew he was David my friend, not David's subordinate.

"Yes, would be easier." I just said I knew he was right, it would be much easier, but at that moment I was starting to think if it was possible, if I could really stay away from Arthur.

I knew the answer, it screamed inside my head, but I chose to ignore it every day.

And today I did the same.

I needed to follow the plan, I was so close to doing it, it was just a few more steps.

We returned to the Pack, and I adjusted the last details of the race, I placed guards throughout the forest, but I knew there was a weaker point, an area close to the border that led directly to a road, Beta Jackson made sure he even organize the guard there.

For the ceremony the next day I had everything organized too, I just hadn't decided what clothes to wear yet, but I chose to worry about one event at a time, after the race I would still have time to think about more details. Beta Veronica was also helping me with the ceremony and I left some things to her.

When night came it took me a while to sleep, I wasn't sure if it was anxiety about the race and the events, the inauguration, the ceremony, or if it was Arthur's smell permeating my bed, I even changed the sheets, because feeling his woodsy smell, without him there with me, was torturous. Even with different bedding, it was as if his scent was a base note in my room, a good memory, but a memory that he wasn't there.

As it took me a while to fall asleep, I allowed myself to sleep later, and among the last details of the race, I wore my guard uniform without holsters and weapons, because half of the race we ran as humans, and in the final half we transformed and finished like wolves. So it didn't make sense for the uniform to be complete if it was going to be in pieces after it.

Soon I went outside to wait for the Alphas to arrive, and to my delight, Arthur and Augustus were one of the firsts. Seeing Arthur in their guard uniform, the black t-shirt he wore under his vest tight to every turn of his muscles, reminded me of him without a shirt and made me faint slightly. I had to blink hard to regain consciousness.

"Alpha Augustus, this time I prepared a super comfortable seat for you at the finish line. Can you be my referee again?" I asked and Augustus greeted me with a smile, his emaciated and pale face came to life with that smile. I needed to hug him, but my body tensed when I felt how thin he was.

My heart sank.

"Of course, Clair." He said while still in my embrace. And after I let him go, it would be strange not to hug Arthur, I smiled and opened my arms, he was surprised, but smiled back hugging me.

And his fucking smell flooded my nose, making me lose consciousness, this time completely.

"That smell of yours was in my bed, it was hard to sleep without you there." The words escaped my lips, and just like whenever I was with him, it was as if my body acted and spoke on its own, it was as if I completely lost control.

I said while still in his embrace, and I felt Arthur's body tense and shiver at my words. He slowly pushed me away and his green eyes looked at me, I didn't know how to act, I hadn't planned to say that, a flash of shyness hit me and I felt my cheeks blush, as I saw him analyzing my face, as if searching through my expressions what I meant by that, but not even I knew.

"Clair, Brennon, and Trent have arrived." The voice was my father's, in the background. I needed to go.

"I need to receive them, excuse me," I said and left, but I felt Arthur's warm gaze following me and enveloping me with every step I took.

I was looking forward to showing these scenes from Clair's perspective. What do you think? Any guesses what will happen in this race?

I have to say that you have no idea what's coming...
