Chapter 1409

“You should tell me where you're going! I didn’t see you when I turned around... Jeremy!” Beth glared at Jeremy behind Ashlynn. “Was it your idea to take her there?”

Ashlynn was about to say something, but Jeremy tugged on her clothes and said, “Yes, it was my fault. I won't do it again.”

Beth finally calmed down. “Let's go and look at the shoes. Did you find any pair that you like?” Ashlynn was pulled to the shoe section.

She knew why Beth's reaction was so big when she could not see her.

In the past, she lost her daughter like this.

For Beth, the fear of losing her daughter still existed even though she had found her.

Even if her daughter was already an adult.

Ashlynn felt her mother's hand was still cold, as if she had not recovered the warmth.

“This looks good.” Jeremy picked a pair of platform leather shoes, which looked comfortable.

Beth said, “It does look good. Get a pair in size 36."

After a while, the salesperson brought it over, knelt, lifted Ashlynn’s feet, and helped her put it on. After knowing Corentin, he brought Ashlynn to shop in different luxury stores. This was not the first time this had happened. However, Ashlynn was still not used to it. After all, she grew up in poverty, so she had the compassion of not wanting to enslave others.

Then again... Ashlynn thought if it were not for this, the salesperson would not be able to work, and if they did not work, they would not be able to earn money to support their families.

Corentin was the one who taught her this logic, and Ashlynn could not refute it.

“Let me do it!" Beth saw Ashlynn’s foot being moved and turned, and she was worried that Ashlynn would get hurt.

Ashlynn exclaimed, “Mom, I-I can do it myself!”

“Don’t move. I'm just putting it on for you.” Beth insisted.

Ashlynn blushed.

Would others think that she was being treated like a child?

At such a big age, she still needed her mother to help her put on shoes.

Beth helped her put one shoe on and then the other.

“Beth, are you the salesperson here?” A woman's voice sounded next to her.

Ashlynn looked over.

The woman was dressed in an elegant dress and had a gentle temperament.

However, Ashlynn was stunned when she saw the woman's face.

She was the woman in the picture with her father.

Then, Ashlynn turned to look at her mother, whose face dropped slightly. Even so, she quickly acted as if

nothing had happened and put down Ashlynn’s feet.

“Try and walk around in them. Do you feel any discomfort in your feet?”

Ashlynn got up and took two steps. “It doesn't hurt, and it looks good.”

Beth then looked at the woman with a sense of oppression. “What else can I do? This is what I have to do as I'm a mother to a son and a daughter, and not every woman can have this kind of hard work. Giving birth is so painful, and it's not suitable for delicate women like you.”

Ashlynn noticed the change in the woman's expression, but she was still trying to maintain her elegant

image.

It was unknown if this woman was married, but it was obvious from Beth's words that she definitely did not have children.

No matter how neat her makeup was, it could be seen that she was about the same age as Beth. Yet, Beth's children were already in their twenties.

It would be difficult for this woman to have a child at this age.

“I heard from Marshall that you found your daughter. Congratulations,” the woman said.

That was a direct acknowledgment that she was in contact with Marshall.
