Chapter 1401

Jeremy paused. “You are going to pick him up from work? I didn't know that you two cared so much about each other.”

“It's not as bad as you think,” she said.

“Seriously, though, you have a family to back you up now. You can do whatever you want,” Jeremy said.

“I know, so don’t worry about someone bullying me,” she reassured him and turned to study Jeremy's face.

He had perfectly carved features like Beth, but did not appear overly feminine.

“If you look at me like that, I'm going to get the wrong idea.” Jeremy kept his eyes trained on the road.

Ashlynn chuckled. “I never thought that I would have a brother as handsome as you.”

“You have the looks, so why wouldn't your brother?”

She giggled. “So we are complimenting each other now?”

“I'm just telling the truth.”

Corentin was in a meeting with the other managers in the most authoritative manner, and no one would have suspected that a monster lurked within his mighty appearance.

Half an hour later, the meeting ended and someone came knocking on the door.

Corentin kept his eyes on the documents and said, “Come in.”

The door opened and found him sitting behind the desk with a faint frown. Impressed by what a great actor he was, she shut the door and strolled toward the desk.

Sensing that something was not right, he looked up and met Ashlynn’s calm, glittering eyes.

For a moment, he was enticed.

"When are you getting off work?” She asked.

"Why did you come here?” He asked.

“To pick you up.”

He leaned back and closed all the files in front of him. “I'm done. Let's go!”

Ashlynn doubted his words and as soon as she turned around, Corentin pressed her up against the edge. of the desk and devoured her lips.

“Umph..." Feeling as though she was suffocating, unable to move. She knew better than to resist before Corentin had not stepped out of the line.

He planted kiss after kiss on her. “Assistant Thompson, aren't you excited to be back in a familiar environment?”

*...No.” She could not adjust to the topic and knew Corentin too well to know that she might not be able to walk out of the office if she did not change the subject. “Let's go. I'm starving.”

“Didn’t you have your lunch? Did they starve you? I should make them pay. It's a great crime to starve my wife,” he panted into her ears.

“I just got hungry again. Let's go.” She struggled to get away, and Corentin let her go.

The two headed down the elevator and his Bently awaited by the door.

"Why don’t we take my ride?” She said.

Corentin had thought that the Hiltons had bought her a car and said casually, “Sure.”

When the security guard drove an electric bike over and parked it by the door, he was rendered speechless. “..."

"Why? Not your cup of tea?”

Back when they grew up in the slum, even an electric bike was considered a product of luxury. Corentin started off with an electric bike, and changed to get a car afterward because he was only of the wealthier people in the slum.

"Are you getting on?” She got on and turned around to ask him.

“Are you driving?” He questioned, but got on regardless.
