Chapter 1090

The butler walked in and announced, “Elder Lloyd, the food is ready.”

“Let's talk about the sign later. Let's eat.” Cory got up.

It was almost a full table.

Anne and Anthony sat together as someone needed to help with her meal and it had always been Anthony who took up the role.

The triplets sat next to them and Ashlynn went to sit next to Chloe, ignoring

Corentin’s warning glare.

Meredith sat next to Corentin, while Bianca sat next to her.

“It's been so many years since we had such a big family gathering,” Cory said.

“It will happen more often from now on,” the butler said.

"Eat up. Eat whatever you want,” Cory said to the others.

Meredith watched as Anthony put various food onto Anne's plate and cut her steak into tiny pieces, wondering why he had ignored his own children.

Ashlynn, on the other hand, was looking after the children. Soon, Meredith noticed the odd looks in Anne's eyes and realized that Anne could not see.

“Ashlynn, how's working in the Lloyd Group been like for you?” Meredith asked abruptly.

Surprised, Ashlynn answered despite getting a bad feeling about it. “It's been great.”

“The Lloyd Group isn't an ordinary company, so you need to be careful not to cause Corentin any trouble!” Meredith reminded.

“I have worked as an assistant before, so I can handle it,” Ashlynn said.

“That's right. I can't imagine doing such hard labor, or I would have applied for the job myself. I envy you,” Meredith said sarcastically in a way that any person would be displeased to hear. Ashlynn did not react and pretended as though she did not notice what Meredith was hinting. “You don't have to envy me. It's a simple job and you can always learn.”

“Learn?’ Meredith thought furiously. “Is she trying to imply that Corentin won't hire me even if I apply for the job?”

She grabbed the wine glass next to her and took a sip, before gasping. “Oh, my. I'm sorry, Corentin. I mistook your glass for mine.”

“It's fine.”

Meredith had done so on purpose to showcase how special her relationship with Corentin was, wanting to punish Ashlynn for showing her face here. “I knew that you would not-"

"Change my glass to a new one,” Corentin commanded the butler.

The butler glanced at the enraged look on Meredith's face, before bowing and leaving to take a new glass for Corentin,

Once he returned with the new glass, he poured Corentin a new glass of wine.

Bianca, who sat next to Meredith, could sense just how furious Meredith was and realized that being the daughter of a powerful family might not be as pleasant as it seemed.

Though Anne could not see, her other senses had grown sharper.

What Meredith said to Ashlynn was clearly meant to provoke Ashlynn, but Meredith failed miserably in the end.

“I want to drink wine, too!” Charlie demanded.

"Huh? You want wine, too?” Cory chuckled, “You are too young. You will have to wait until you grow older.”

“I hate being two years old!” Charlie pouted.

The others burst into giggles and laughter at his words and the tension in the air dissolved. Ashlynn handed him a glass and said, “Why don't you drink some juice? It's sweet.”

“You should have some, too, Big Sister!” Charlie said.
