Five months later.

We have decided to host guests for the first time since we got married. Sasha would have preferred a glamourous wedding but then we decided to just go to the court and would later have something fancy after she puts to bed. I have seen how different women react differently to carrying a pregnancy and I must hand it to Sasha because she has carried hers so well; she looks better than most.

‘I think this is good enough.’ I say proudly.

We couldn’t stay in the house that Pearl and I were living in, neither could we stay at Sasha’s place, so sold both houses, put money together and bought the house we are now living in.

‘This looks perfect.’ She says with a huge smile.

Over the months, I have come to put up with her circle of friends. A part of me still strongly believes that she is just putting up with all this because she is scared of being alone. Clearly she and Lona are not working out but they keep pretending like they are the best of friends and it gets under my skin.

‘They are here.’ She says when a car drives in and then followed by another and then a third.

‘Hey girl, you have done well for yourself.’ Lona says , she has come with a bottle of Champaign.

‘Thank you girlfriend, you will die with jealousy when you see inside the house.’

‘I bet I will, now let’s go you show me around.

I just shake my head as they rush inside.

‘Hey man, this is a nice place you have here.’ Gabriel says.

We greet each other in a manly way, then Musonda and Zac. They have come with Zac’s twin sister Zara and her bestfriend Celine who is Musonda’s girlfriend. I am starting to know their names because this circle is too huge for me, I kept messing up names in the beginning. The gentlemen remove the alcohol they have come with from their cars and now we have more alcohol than we will be able to drink but that is not such a bad thing. Zara and Celine make themselves comfortable on the garden chairs whilst the guys take over at the braii stand where I was.

‘What are you ladies drinking?’ I ask following Zara and Celine.

‘I will have whatever strong beverage you have.’ Zara says.

‘Some white wine will do.’ Celine responds.

‘Alright I will be right back.’ I say then walk away.

These are Sasha’s people and eventually they will have to become my people but I would love to watch from a distance before making myself part of the team.

‘My God you guys have a beautiful place, the nursery is to die for.’ Lona says to me excitedly. I have found them in the kitchen where Sasha is eating tacos.

‘How can you be eating this much and not be putting on weight?’ Lona asks making a face.

‘I am God’s favorite child Lona, I thought that was already settled.’

‘You really are.’ She tells her. I don’t think saying such a thing to a pregnant woman is appropriate but at the end of the day it’s their business. I get the beers and excuse myself.

‘If you aren’t the most beautiful pregnant woman I have ever seen.’ Gabriel says walking into the kitchen. I find myself blushing, I quite haven’t gotten over the crush.

‘You shouldn’t be doing any work you know, it’s not good for the baby.’

‘What do you know about what’s good for me?’ I question picking up the last taco from the tray.

Lona excused herself to join her man outside but I stayed behind for the tacos. God they are so good, I plan on getting more of them after today.

‘Well I know that you need a little exercise to keep yourself active but not too much because that might get you sick.’

‘This is a little exercise.’ I say taking a bite.

‘You need to stretch your muscles Sasha.’ He says it in such a dark way, I almost choke on my food.

‘Are you okay?’ he asks rushing to get me a glass of water.

‘I am thank you.’

Our fingers touch as I get the glass from him, this shouldn’t be happening right now. I am not supposed to be feeling anything because I got my happy ending and Lona is very happy with him.

‘I still think of that day in my office.’

‘What day Gabriel.’

‘Gabriel I am pregnant.’

‘When last did you get some good sex? I hear pregnant women tend to have a high libido, how about a man that will work on your body and make you feel things you have never felt before?’

‘Gabriel your girlfriend is my bestfriend and I am married.’

‘You don’t need to pretend, Lona told me everything.’

‘Lona will be drunk as hell, drive her to my place.’
