Hailey's POV

Cayden takes a final bite of his sandwich before getting to his feet and stands up to walk away but Jaxon holds out his hand to stop him. Cayden looks at Jaxon's hand and then looks up at him, eyeing him up before opening his mouth.

"I don't need to be here.” He says and walks past Jaxon but I block his way out... My eyes pleaded with him to stay. I need all the support I can get.

With Azuri and Jaxon in the same room, there is bound to be a little drama and I need someone that will take my side no matter my reasoning.

"Please stay." I softly say to Cayden and he relents, turning around and walking back to sit on the couch he was just sitting on. Jaxon chuckles at this and sits opposite Cayden, he chose to be sitting right next to his ex.

"Well?" I ask looking at Jaxon.

"Are you going to sit?" He asks me and I move to sit down, next to Cayden. I look at Jaxon as I sit down and I notice a little annoyance on his face but it doesn't last long. A triumphant feeling warms my insides at that brief show of jealousy. Just as his sitting next to Azuri annoys me, I know now that my closeness to Cayden bothers him too.

"You both say I have nothing to worry about but then..." Jaxon's hand gestures at how close Cayden and I were sitting and Cayden smirks.

"I don't recall ever saying you have nothing to worry about. In fact, I don't recall ever inserting myself in the middle, either to ease your worries or comfort you." Cayden says and I smile.

"So, what you're saying is that I do need to worry?" Jaxon asks and Cayden just shrugs, sitting back on the couch and getting comfortable. He opens his legs wider, that action causes his leg to touch mine and he leaves it there. I feel a faint lightning jolt from this innocent touch but I try to keep a straight face, to avoid any drama... In silence, my whole body was humming to that spark, excitement running through me like a little girl with a school girl crush.

"Jaxon, you did not bring us all here to point out that me sitting next to Cayden bothers you when you unconsciously sat next to your ex in my home." I point out and that makes Azuri smile for some reason and it angers me, killing all that giddiness that was inside me from Cayden's touch.

Jaxon however, scoots a little further from Azuri, seeing the error of his ways but I stay close to Cayden. There was no way I was moving away from him, with him next to me, I stayed calmer than I would've been had I been alone with Jaxon and his never disappearing ex.

"I am sorry, habit," Jaxon says to me, his eyes looked sincere but I was still upset. His action just showed me that he was not actively trying to change whatever habits he had before I came into his life. He is not actively trying to reassure me that his life with this girl is over, instead, his actions fuel my insecurities and probably had my eyes drift off to someone else...

'No000o... His actions with Azuri help you to feel less guilty about your little crush on Cayden. By the way, if things continue like this, you will make a big mistake and one you can never come back from." My wolf says to me. All that honesty felt like a slap on the face and I stood up, only to sit back down. I suddenly felt naked and that everyone in this room could see right through me...

Is that what I have become? Is the point of my life now, the mission to run through lovers in search of comfort? And did I really give Jaxon a chance?

'Yes, you did and now it is up to him to make it up to you. That we can both agree on... Jaxon fucked up but you can't act on your feelings for Cayden.' My wolf responds and we are interrupted by Azuri.

"Why am I here, Jaxon?" She asks, looking at Jaxon with loving eyes.

"You are here because I need to say some things in front of the people that make me and Hailey uncomfortable. You and Cayden are the thorns on our side and I am here to tell you that what we had is over. I am saying this in front of Hailey and her beta, that is enough people to make sure this gets across and we never have to have this conversation again.” Jaxon says and a tear escapes Azuri's eye.

"Why? Do you think your father has been faithful to your mother all this time? I was willing to be the other girl from being The girl to you, for you. I told you this and you accepted it... You were fine with it, happy in fact if I remember correctly but now you are telling me that I will be nothing to you? I refuse to accept that. Am I just something you can toss to the side just like that?" Azuri asks Jaxon, my mate... My mate, the guy failing to meet Azuri's eyes right now.

"Wait a minute..." I say, standing up again to walk closer to the old couple that once was.

"You agreed to what?" I ask Jaxon, who stands up to face me but Azuri stands as well and Cayden stands up too.

"I did not agree to anything. I was just upset and you were basically talking to yourself that night. It's not like anything happened between us then to right now because I can never even be with you as someone on the side, or as anything else when I have found my mate." Jaxon says, he looks at me and then pinches the bridge of his nose before looking into Azuri's eye
