Chapter 32

Hailey's POV

"So how did you do it?" Azuri asks me. Startling me in the guest room the luna told me to sleep in. "I thought I was alone.” I say in annoyance.

"Tell me. How did you do it?" She says, standing right in front of me this time.

"Do what?" I ask her.

"Fool everyone, fool Jaxon in to thinking that you're his mate? How did you have everyone think you were human?" She asks.

"I did not fool anyone. If anything, I'm the fool for thinking that being Jaxon's mate, that being his alone will keep you away from him but that's not the case.” I say and Azuri smiles

"We have a connection, him and I. We also have a history, as friends first so he will always care about me. To keep us away, you'd have to kill me.” Azuri tells me.

"Trust me, I've thought about it but I'd rather have you annoy me in real life than haunt me." I say, turning around and getting in to bed.

"Well? Are you going to leave?" I ask her.

"Sleep with one eye open.” She says and jumps out the window, just before Jaxon walks in.

He looks out the window and frowns before looking at me.

"What did she want?" He asks me.

"She thinks I have you all fooled. That I've known all along that I'm a wolf and now I've used some kind of power to woo you in to thinking we are mates." I say and he let's out a sigh.

Xander joins me on the bed, making sure to stay on top of the covers.

"Well then, I'm a happy fool.” He says trying to make me smile but I don't.

"Jaxon, this isn't funny." I say.

"No, it's not. She's insulting me too here if you didn't know. Thinking I'm incapable of knowing whether you're mine or not." He says to me with a smile.

"Hailey, I'm with you right now and I just want to be happy around you. I can deal with Zuri tomorrow. I want our time to be ours, not spent worrying about others unless we absolutely have to." Jaxon says to me.

"Deal with Zuri?" I ask and he rolls his eyes.

"That's all you heard?" Jaxon asks me, his mother opening the door to call him out.

"Let the poor girl sleep. Her beta says he has people outside her window to protect her now so she'll be fine all night. Besides, nobody would want to deal with her father if anything happens to her, not even your father." Mrs Gellar tells her son.

Jaxon kisses my forehead before he reluctantly gets off the bed and walks out with his mother. Mrs. Gellar winks at me before closing the door and I lie down, with Jaxon's scent now on the sheets, sleep finds me and I close both my eyes...

I wake up just as the sun rises, with a little bit of light in the room, I see a red rose on the bed and a note tied to the stem.

'l think it's only right I tell you that I love watching you sleep. I have been doing it from the day I met you and I'll do it all the days of my life, even when we get to share a bed together. Even after an argument and for some reason, I find myself angry with my love, I will still watch you sleep. You seem to find peace in your sleep and one day, I will give you that peace ..in this world and the next.- Jax'

The note read.

I read it over and over again, my smile growing bigger and bigger everytime I read through it.

I hear a knock before Miriam walks in holding a dress.

"I was told to give you this in the morning and to meet a certain gentleman outside in 10." She says and I jump out of bed to snatch the dress out of her hands.

Miriam giggles before jumping on my bed and smelling the rose.

"Lucky girl!" She says and I smile my way to the bathroom to wash up.

The dress was cute.

White in color and just a little above my knee. An off the shoulder type with a little lace detail that came with a white crystal beaded headband

I put all of it on to show my only female friend right now and she approves. Miriam chases me out of my room, rambling something about time running out. As soon as I walk out my door, red roses were carefully laid on the floor, leading me out of the house, where a very handsome mera stood waiting for me in his white buttoned shirt and khaki chino pants.

Jaxon looks up and his eyes brighten up when they land on me, making me smile as I make my way towards him. Red roses still on the ground, leading me to him.

He holds out his hand and I place mine in his.

"Good morning beautiful." Jaxon says to me, kissing my lips.

As we pull away, I notice there's people around us going about their lives and some watching on this clear display of romance.

"What's the occasion?” I ask.

"The occasion is that you are my mate. I've known it all along and today, I'm going to show you around. You are their future too as much as I am theirs, without you, I can never have a future. Hailey, you are mine and I want the world to know." Jaxon says to me.

He picks me up and swings me around as I giggle before a car pulls up in front of us and he places me down to open the back door for me.

I get inside and he closes the door, running to the other side and getting in the back of the car with me.

"Good morning luna.” Caiphus greets me.

I just smile at him...

The term luna catching me off guard, reminding me that I had a big decision to make regarding my pack and Jaxon's.

The Mera’s and Shera's stop to look on, as the car drives past their homes or on the street.

" have a surprise for you. It's something I have been working on since I found out about you and I pray to the goddess you love it because it took me forever to bring to life because it is my first gift to you, to signify my commitment to you." Jaxon says to me.

I didn't notice it before but he looked nervous right now and it was the cutest thing.

"I'm sure I'll love it. We are mates after all and if it's from the heart, how can I not?" I ask and he chuckles nervously before the car comes to a halt.

He pulls me to him before I could turn around to look outside.

"I need to cover your eyes with this." Jaxon shows me a black scarf.

I excitedly close my eyes and he ties the scarf around my head to cover my eyes. I hear the car open and Jaxon taking my hand to help me out.

I get on my feet and we walk around the car, walking slowly to make sure I don't humiliate myself by falling blindfolded.

"Okay. I'm going to take the blindfold off now and I need you to keep your eyes closed okay?" He asks and I nod my head yes.

He takes the scarf off and as promised, my eyes stayed closed.

"Hailey, I want you to know that no matter what you see or hear, that I will always choose you. I want you, I need you. I can't imagine a life without you, I couldn't bear it! I wish I could show you how I felt when I first laid eyes on you on that first day of school, how I wanted to kill Azuri for laying a hand on you and being conflicted because you are human and I can't act out in fear of scaring you away. I care for the people in my pack, I also need you to understand that but I care about you just a little bit more and it will always be that way. When you open your eyes and turn around, I need you to see the genuine love I have for you and that this is only the beginning.” Jaxon says to me.

I could hear the sincerity in his words, as he turns me around I keep my eyes closed a little longer to enjoy the suspense.

It is the build up that is most enjoyable and to get to this, with Jaxon makes it so much sweeter. "Open your eyes Hailey.." Jaxon says and I open my eyes to see a field with roses of every color, a path in the middle and I walk on it to look at the beauty that is in these plants. Starting at white, then yellow then white again. Jaxon waits at the car, looking back at him to see if he'll come with but he hangs back and watches me.

I continue my walk, admiring the hard work Jaxon had to put in to keep these flowers alive and for them to grow. How he stayed dedicated even after our big fight and when I disappeared and he didn't know where I was, he didn't give up on me, or on this gift he was working on, trusting that I would one day see it.

I feel the waterworks begin.

Pink roses, red ones and altogether. right before I come to a cute little wooden house. I mean, not little but it was no mansion. It was just right, romantic and cozy. An intimate place that was away from the buzz of the city.

A fairytale kind of book, hidden by trees and thousands of roses that seem to circle the house. I walk up the wooden stairs and make my way to the door, where a key with a note was inserted. “Inside is my heart laid out for you to do with as you wish. This is the life I intend to have with you. I will build you a thousand more houses if you wish and I will burn none for they will each hold memories I know I will treasure forever. May this be the first of many or the only that you and I will share for the time to come. May this be the first page of our long story that the world will continue to tell even after we are long gone.- Jaxon’ I read.

I unlock the door and I push the door open. It makes that little creak but goes all the way, finding Jaxon standing in the middle of a room that was decorated in lit candles and white flowers. With a smile on his face, I walked in.

"From the first time I laid eyes on you, I knew that I would do this. When I'd get the chance or how I would do it, that I didn't know but I knew you were mine and I gave you my heart then, even though you had no idea. I built this house, with help obviously but I put in the work, every day I did the labor too and designed it. I know it is not the big majestic houses you or I am accustomed to but it's just us for now and this is enough. As we grow, as our family grows, so will the house but for now, this is ours. This is my gift to you.” Jaxon says to me.

He takes a box out of his hand and my hands fly up to cover my mouth. He goes on one knee, his eyes on me still as he open the box and shiny ring is shown to me.

"I, alpha Jaxon Gellar, am deeply in love with you Hailey Ferguson. I love it. I enjoy thinking about you, I love the fact that I have you in my life and I don't ever want to change that. You bring me so much joy, so much excitement. I get excited knowing I will get to see your smile every day of my life and I get to hear your voice for the rest of my days and I pray to the goddess I am blessed with you once more in my next life. You are perfection, made perfect and I don't deserve you. I really don't and this is not to talk down on myself, I'm not. You are so pure, so sweet and I'm me. I've done some things that I am shameful for which I wasn't before I met you. I'm also very happy that I get a shera as a mate. I don't know what I did in my past life to deserve such a gift but I promise to never take it for granted and that if I ever fail to show you my love and it makes you doubt if I still love you, smack me stupid.” He says and I break out in laughter, tears staining my face but laughing. "Hailey, as the humans would say it, would you please make me the happiest man in the world? I know our kind doesn't really get married but I will bite you and leave a mark on your neck for life! And I honestly can't wait to leave marks all over you...But for that to happen, I'm asking for your permission. Don't worry, I followed all the human rules and we have your dad's blessing. So, with that said... Will you be my mate? Share a bond with me until my last breath? and just so you know, if you say yes, which you will, you are stuck with me for life so think about this okay?" Jaxon jokes and I laugh again before kneeling down before him to kiss him passionately.

"Yes. I will be your mate, as I am already but this... this! Yes!" I say before kissing him again...
