Chapter 5 

Looking at the empty bedroom. Neville furrowed his brow 

Regina, who heard the commotion, walked over and said, “I don’t know where that b*tch wandered off to. She didn’t come home all day.” 

Neville’s brow furrowed even more, and his aura became colder. 

Regina added, “A woman of her lowly origins is not good enough for our family. You shouldn’t have married her from the start. Just send her away with some money to avoid all the gossip. 

Neville raised his cool gaze to her, and Regina was shocked, 

He could be really ruthless sometimes, and Regina couldn’t always figure out what he was thinking. 

Regina shut her mouth and left. 

Neville surveyed the bedroom and realized that Madison only took her personal clothing, leaving behind the jewelry and luxury items he had purchased for her. 

He sneered and thought, ‘She used to be gentle and obedient, but today, she seemed to get the guts. 

Not only did she confront him, but she also ran away from home. 

He thought that Madison was troublesome. She played all kinds of tricks to win his affection, and he felt tired of it.

Madison sneered and immediately turned off her phone. 

Neville’s patience had reached its limit, and after waiting for a considerable time without any response, he decided to call Madison. However, upon hearing the automated message, “the number you have dialed is powered off,” he could no longer contain his anger 

He thought. She must think that her previous tricks didn’t work, so she was playing hard to get. 

Neville didn’t usually let emotions or desires affect him. 

Even as Neville witnessed Madison’s fiery passion, he remained indifferent, for he simply did not harbor any affection for

But tonight, he seemed to be craving for smoking, lighting one cigar after another. 

As he finished a box of cigars, the sky began to lighten. 

Neville didn’t think he was emotionally affected by anyone. It was just that he disliked when anything or anyone deviated 

from his control. 

But Madison stayed outside all night and was challenging his patience. 

At this moment, his phone rang. It was from Madison. 

Neville’s lips tightened into a thin line as he contemplated the situation. If Madison were to offer a genuine apology and assure him that she would improve her behavior, he might consider letting the matter go 

She could still retain her position as Mrs. Preston. Neville had always disliked women who were excessively cunning or troublesome. Hence, he decided to give her an opportunity to find a way out of the situation. 

After answering the call, he said in a low voice, “You have quite the nerve not coming home.” 

Madison sneered, “Neville, can’t you comprehend? I’m informing you about the divorce, not here to negotiate with you!” 

Neville, hearing the word “divorce,” couldn’t stand it anymore. A sense of irritation surged in his chest. “Madison, that’s enough!” 

He was warning her not to push it too far. 

Madison almost burst into laughter. He always had this high and cold demeanor that she found repulsive. 

In these three years of indifference and humiliation, her love for him had long been exhausted and worn away. From now on, Madison wouldn’t bend for anyone and just wanted to be herself. 

“Neville, I admit I was wrong. From the beginning, it was my wishful thinking that you would love me. But over these three years, I’ve endured enough coldness and disdain. Let’s spare each other. Consider it saving the last bit of dignity for both of us,” Madison said. 

Neville was holding the phone and couldn’t react for a while. 

Did she ask me to spare her? What qualifications did she have to make demands? I have to decide her fate. Moreover, she willingly married me with that kidney. She couldn’t just walk away now. I should be the ruler of the game, thought he

At the city hall, Madison deliberately wore a black dress with her hair gathered elegantly, highlighted by a pearl brooch pinned to her chest. Her choice of attire was a fitting representation of mourning for the love that had died. 

The dress accentuated her figure flawlessly, and when combined with her captivating face, she exuded grace and allure. 

Passersby couldn’t help but look back at her. 

Madison waited for half an hour but didn’t see Neville. 

It seemed that Neville didn’t put her words to heart. 

That made sense. Over the years, he had been very indifferent to her. Whatever she did or said, it did not arouse his interest, and naturally, he wouldn’t take her words to heart 

While she was about to urge Neville, she received a call from Ross. “Madison, you probably need to make a trip to Eatonheim. The director said the cooperation was discussed in your name, so you need to sign the contract yourself,” Ross said.
