The Big Day

The week flew swiftly by, which was surprising since it usually drags when I want it to go fast! Logan will turn 18 in Chemistry class. What an interesting coincidence! I make sure that I look great today as I get ready for school. We will be out of school soon and off to our futures, be it college or whatever. I will be going to architectural college nearby and am actually excited to be going to more school.

I call to Tori and we run down the steps to the kitchen and grab a quick breakfast of bagels and off to school we go. We get to the parking lot and Logan is waiting for me. He walks in with me, Kyle and Dana. Dana is Kyles mate and we hit it off immediately. She is a sweet, funny girl that has a backbone of steel to put up with Kyle. She stands up to him when necessary and he mellows out when she is around. It is amazing to watch them together. I have to admit I'm a little jealous of what they have, but I keep telling myself soon it will be me and Logan.

I head to my locker and grab my books, throwing them in my bookbag. Logan lifts the bag off my shoulder and carries it for me to my homeroom. I thank him and catch Dana kissing Kyle in thanks for him carrying her books. The teachers don't get bent out of shape for kissing here unless it is too steamy. They understand about shifters and mates. Just have to keep the juicy stuff for after school.

I start my school day and the time drags as I struggle through the morning classes. It is finally lunch time and I get out of class and head to my locker. Logan meets me at my locker, he looks nervous. "You ok?" I ask glancing over my shoulder at him. He shakes his head, "no, how did you get through it?" I laugh dryly "I'm still going through it! All you can do is take one minute at a time." He gives me a quick hug and a look of commiseration.

We go into lunch and get our food. Logan is quiet, Kyle and Dana are talking about going on a run later, and I just sit here and eat trying to give the couple space and not get into Logan's head. Min is of course her bubbly self. She is going to check out colleges with her Dad again this weekend. She also likes scoping out the guys looking for her mate even though she won't turn 18 until the summer.

The bell rings and we take our trays up to the front and head to our lockers for the books we need for the afternoon classes. I see Logan's tense face and I wish I could say or do something to make this half hour go easier but I can't figure out what to do that would make a difference. I grab his hand when he walks up and give it a squeeze, silently letting him know I'm here for him. He smiles grimly and walks with me to class.

Chemistry is starting out the same as always. We get our instructions and kitted out for our experiments. We go to the lab and start the experiment. Min goes first today to start with the measuring of chemicals while I stand beside her reading the instructions and making sure the measurements are correct. Halfway through the experiment Logan grabs my waist and turns me to face him. "Mine," he says softly and gives me a lingering kiss. "Finally!" I gasp when he lets me up for air. I hug him tightly, "it's been a long week!" I whisper to him.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Logan asks. "Would you have believed me?" I say. "I kept wanting to be with you all the time and had to keep my hands off you even though all I wanted to do is kiss you and hold you. Now it makes sense." he said. The teacher Mr. Ares, stood watching us with a smile on his face. "I just love watching mates find each other." he gushed. We smiled at each other while Min squealed and gave us a group hug. We reluctantly went back to work and finished up the experiment successfully. After class was over I gave Logan a sweet kiss and sent him on his way. I quickly called Mom and let her know that Logan is definitely my mate. She called my Dad to the phone and he didn't sound thrilled. His daughter is growing up! He does want to talk to Logan after school today though. Poor Logan!
