Birthday Party

My Mom took tonight off to give me an awesome 18th birthday party. She decorated the back yard with balloons and streamers and has a makeshift dance floor with a stereo and speakers set up. A DJ is coming over later to play some tunes for us. She meets me at the door practically jumping up and down with excitement. I pull her and Tori into the den and quietly tell them what has happened. "Yes it is Logan but he doesn't know, he won't be 18 until next Friday. Please don't let on you know, I want him to find out for himself, not have it forced on him when he doesn't feel it."

They both reluctantly agreed with me to keep it quiet. We can still have fun as long as my wolf decides to behave. I decide to call one of the mated pack warriors and take a quick run to help keep my wolf content. I change into my robe and wait for Jake to go with me again. We have been logging a lot of time together since this school year has started. I'm glad his daughter is around the same age and he understands what I am going through. I shift behind the bushes and fluff out my blonde fur prancing to the edge of the woods stretching in anticipation for a good run. I start running with the wind in my fur and feel the soft ground squeeze through my toes as my feet hit the forest trail. I chase my tail just for fun and tear after a rabbit for the chase, not wanting a meal.

Jake and I finish our run and I grab my robe and transform in the bushes. I call a thank you over my shoulder to Jake and he waves in acknowledgement, already heading back to his house. I run in to take a shower and change for the party which starts in an hour. I put on a pretty dress with splashes of different shades of blue and green on it and pull my long hair into a semi neat updo for a change. Some mascara and shiny lip gloss completes the spiffing up for the party. I head down the steps when I'm finished and start greeting the guests as they enter the house. I send them towards the back of the house where tables are set and my parents are outside grilling food for the party.

Logan follows his parents up the path to our house carrying a small gift in his hand. I greet his parents warmly, they have been friends of the family a long time and we used to vacation together in the summer until his Mom started back to school to be a doctor. I hug him and he hands me the package and bows gallantly. "For the beautiful lady on her birthday!" he smirks. I laugh delightedly and take the gift to open later. I walk to the back yard with them since all the guests have appeared to arrived and watch while his Dad greets mine. "Kane, how are you doing? I haven't see you around lately." My Dad laughed while turning steaks on the grill, "Nope, now you know why with your wife in school. Busy working and being a house husband. How are you Cage?" "Busy Busy" answered Cage, Logan's Dad. "Well grab a chair and we can catch up." invited Kane. I smiled and pulled Logan away, "you know they will gossip and reminisce all night like old women."

I roamed around and played hostess with a smile on my face. It was good to see relatives and friends talking, eating, and mingling. The DJ came in and started playing music in the background. Logan pulled me over and talked me into dancing with him. I laughed and twirled along with the music. A slow song came on and he pulled me in close. His scent and nearness is driving me and my wolf wild but I had to force it down. I enjoy being in the arms of my mate. Hopefully soon he will know the truth too.

Logan keeps encouraging me to dance with the others and find my mate. I painfully smile and dance with the others while my wolf is growling lowly in my head. She just wants to be close to Logan and his wolf. Finally the night was coming to a close and Logan danced the last slow dance with me. That gratified my wolf enough to settle her down. I opened the package he got for me earlier and it is a keychain with a moon and my name engraved on it. I gave him a hug, it is so pretty! Logan pulled me away and asked "Was he here?" I shook my head sadly, wishing it was next week so this would be over. He hugged me tight and quickly kissed me! I think we were both surprised because of the kiss. Logan apologized for the kiss and quickly left with his parents.
