AUTHOR'S NOTE

Let me extend a warm welcome to this story and provide some author’s insight before you begin. The story you’re about to embark on is inspired by a fantastical historical setting dealing with themes of loss and recovery. It is driven by the prompt:

“A desperate wish, made from the heart, is always answered. Sooner or later.”

Inspired by a writing competition to complete a novella in three months and a group of persuasive mangoes, I took this challenge head-on and is complete. As is customary with my writing style, the narrative may explore mature themes such as trauma and personal growth. However, I will do my best to handle these themes with sensitivity and respect for the reader’s comfort.
