Chapter 768 As Long As You Don't Break Up with Me

As Abbot finished speaking, before Rebecca could react, he directly knocked his head onto the ground.

Rebecca was stunned and startled. She quickly stepped back.

Colin and his two companions who were seating in the car burst into laughter upon seeing that.

Colin exclaimed, "Wow!"

Ethan rubbed his forehead and said, "That is so embarrassing!"

Faye smiled as she remarked, "Abbot's apology seems quite sincere."

At that moment, Colin was recording a short video of Abbot, and he was laughing so hard that the camera on his phone was shaking along with him.

While the three were laughing, Rebecca's mother stepped out from the courtyard, holding an umbrella. She first gave Rebecca a stern look, then furrowed her brows as she went to help the kneeling Abbot. "Mrs. Black, Becca hasn't forgiven me yet. Could you let me kneel for a while longer?"

"It isn't nice for a man to kneel. If you have something to say, say it inside the house. Standing here with people passing by, it looks like we're discussing something unsavory."

Abbot remained kneeling and said, "It's okay, Mrs. Black. I'm not afraid of embarrassment."

Seeing Abbot being so stubborn, Rebecca's mother frowned and looked at Rebecca, "Well, come over and help him up."

Rebecca held the umbrella handle and said, "It's not that I ask him to kneel, he's the one..."

Before Rebecca could finish her sentence, her mother shot her a cold glance.

Rebecca quickly shut her mouth, lowered her head, and went to assist Abbot.

Taking advantage of the situation, Abbot managed to stand up and asked in a hushed tone, "Becca, have you forgiven me?"

Rebecca whispered back, "Consider yourself lucky today. I'll deal with you later."

Abbot grinned and continued, "Sure, as long as you don't break up with me, I'll take whatever punishment you give."

"Abbot, I've never realized how thick-skinned you are until now."

Abbot chuckled and replied, "Better than being a bachelor."

After that, Abbot stood up and followed Rebecca's mother and Rebecca into the house.

Before entering, he didn't forget to turn his head and make an "okay" gesture toward Colin and his friends.

Colin chuckled lightly, honked the horn in response, and watched Abbot enter the house. Then, he put away his phone, turned to Ethan, and asked, "Shall the three of us go to eat now?" Ethan stretched his legs and said, "Go to my place to pick up Violet first, and send me the video you just recorded."

Colin raised his eyebrows and asked, "Why? Posting it on your TimeLine?"

Ethan replied, "Sending it to Matthew."

Upon hearing that, Colin grinned mischievously. Wasn't sending it to Matthew meant it would be broadcasting to the world?

Without hesitation, Colin forwarded the video he had just recorded to Ethan.

Ethan felt his vibrated phone, he pulled it out, opened the message, and promptly hit the forward button to send it to Matthew.

Colin asked with his hands on the steering wheel, "Sent?"

Ethan chuckled lightly and said, "Let's see the effect in about an hour."

Meanwhile, Abbot had just taken a hot shower at the Blacks' villa and was shivering as he sat on the couch in the living room, sipping ginger tea.

Rebecca's mother sat on a nearby couch and was the first to break the silence, "I heard that you bought Becca's company?"

At the mention of Becca's company, Abbot's heart skipped a beat. He didn't dare to lie and responded, "Yes."

Rebecca's mother reached for the cup of tea on the coffee table, took a sip, and said, "You handled this matter quite underhandedly."

Abbot didn't dare to argue, "Yes, you're right."

Rebecca's mother continued, "While I can understand that there might have been reasons for this situation, I still hope that this kind of thing won't happen again."

Abbot assured her, "Rest assured, there won't be a second time."

Rebecca's mother placed her tea cup down and looked at Abbot, "A lifetime is long. If you two want to spend the second half of your lives together, excluding any unexpected events, you will have at least over forty years together."

Rebecca's mother's tone was calm and said them word by word.

But the more composed she seemed, the more uncomfortable Abbot felt.

As Rebecca's mother spoke halfway, she deliberately paused to check on Abbot's reaction.

He lowered his head and took a strong gulp of the ginger tea in his hand, "Mrs. Black, you're right. Please continue."

Rebecca's mother continued, "In those forty-plus years, loyalty to each other is more important than wealth or power."

Abbot nodded, "Yes."

Rebecca's mother looked at Abbot, and the smile on her face had now faded completely.

"When I say loyalty, I mean loyalty in every sense. It's not just emotional, but also honesty in everyday life. You both are to be a married couple and want to spend a lifetime together. In everything, there must be communication and honesty, without hiding anything from each other."

Abbot acknowledged, "I realize I didn't consider this situation thoroughly."

Rebecca's mother continued, "You're still young. Occasionally making mistakes in your considerations is normal. Acknowledge your mistakes and remember to improve next time."

Abbot nodded firmly, "I will definitely improve."

Seeing Abbot's sincere attitude in admitting his mistake, Rebecca's mother's expression softened slightly. She didn't want to make things too difficult for him. Catching a glance of Abbot's flushed face, she subtly signaled Rebecca with her eyes.

Rebecca understood and turned her gaze towards Abbot. She asked, "Are you having a fever?"

Abbot had stood in the heavy rain for almost half an hour, and now he was indeed feeling a bit lightheaded. Trying to act strong, he replied, "I am fine." Observing his condition, Rebecca furrowed her brows, stood up, and reached to touch Abbot's forehead, "You're are so warm and you say you're fine?" Abbot looked up at Rebecca and whispered in a tone only they could hear, "How about... I go home first?"

Rebecca lowered her head slightly and said, "How can you leave in this kind of condition? Let me call the family doctor for you." Rebecca's mother coughed softly and interjected, "Becca, take Abbot to your room, and let me call Dr. Greyson to come over." After Rebecca's mother finished speaking, she got up to make the call to the family doctor.

Rebecca supported Abbot as they went upstairs.

A few minutes later, Abbot was lying on Rebecca's bed, feigning illness, with a bit of genuine discomfort and mostly melodramatic groaning.

Seeing his condition, Rebecca furrowed her brows and said, "Wait here, I'll go check if Dr. Greyson has arrived."

After she finished speaking, she turned and left the room.

Abbot immediately picked up his phone and messaged Jadon, "Jadon, do you know the family doctor of Rebecca's family? I heard his surname is Greyson." Jadon received the message just as he finished surgery. He replied, "I don't know him. What's up?"

Abbot continued, "I'm here today to apologize to Rebecca. I caught a cold from getting caught in the rain. It's just a normal fever, nothing serious. I was thinking..." Jadon quickly understood and said, "You want the doctor to exaggerate your condition?"

Abbot replied, "Yes."

Jadon answered, "Alright, I got it."

Abbot asked, "Jadon, can you handle this?"

Jadon responded, "For the sake of the Carters' future, I'll make sure it's handled."

Half an hour later, Abbot was pretending to be half-delirious from a fever when the bedroom door was pushed open from outside. Rebecca entered, accompanied by a young man. Rebecca said, "Dr. Thiago, he got caught in the rain earlier and now he has a fever."

The young man stepped forward, touched Abbot's forehead with his hand, turned to Rebecca, and said, "He's running quite a high temperature."

Rebecca furrowed her brows and said, "Please treat him."

The young man nodded, placed his medical bag down, and crouched down to conduct a check-up for Abbot.

Abbot looked at the young male doctor in front of him, feeling guarded at first. In a hushed voice, he asked, "Wasn't it supposed to be Dr. Greyson? Why is it Dr. Thiago now?"

The young doctor raised an eyebrow and replied, "Doesn't Mr. Carter know about the switch?"

Abbot blinked, then lowered his voice and said, "So, you are?"

The young man whispered back, "Dr. Carter is my mentor."

Abbot immediately let his guard down and a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes, "Thank you for your help, Dr. Thiago."

"Respecting my teacher is my principle. It's my pleasure."

After a while, the young doctor removed his stethoscope and said, "He caught a fever from being in the rain. It's not too severe, but it's not mild either. I'll prescribe some medicine for him. For now, keep him from going outside. Exposing him to the wind might worsen his condition."
