Faye asked worriedly over the phone, "How is Jake now?"

Alexander said, "He's alive and still breathing."

Faye asked again, "Is he seriously hurt?"

Alexander said mockingly, "Of course it's serious. Those are trained bodyguards, and he's just a psychiatrist. It's all about kicking against the pricks"

Alexander added before Faye could speak, "But you don't have to sympathize with him. He brought it on himself."

Faye smiled. "Did Jake offend you?"

Alexander replied, "No."

Faye said, "It sounds like he did offend you."

Alexander sulked and said nothing.

When Faye didn't hear Alexander's voice, she asked with a smile, "What's going on?"

Alexander said, "Nothing, but I just thought that Jake and I know each other for so long and we always help each other. I'm sure we must be friends. It turns out I'm not being taken seriously at all." Faye said nothing.
