Chapter 326 You Were Lucky

Hearing what Faye said, Jake leaned back on the couch. He raised his head with a hand covering his eyes.

"Faye, you are lucky.

"You're very lucky to encounter a guy like Colin."

Faye uttered, "Jake."

"Mm-hmm." Jake's voice sounded low.

Faye said calmly, "Alexander and his grandma live next door to you. Don't worry. His grandma is very nice. She won't judge you."

Jake was short of breath and fell silent.

Faye knitted her brows while holding the phone. After a few seconds, she hung up and called Alexander.

At the same time, Alexander, with an apron, was making pies with his grandma in the kitchen.

Hearing the phone ringing, Alexander leaned against the cupboard and fished out his phone. After taking a glance at his phone screen, he picked it up smilingly, "Happy New Year, Faye." Faye responded, "Happy New Year."

She then hurriedly added, "Alexander, do me a favor, please."

Alexander thought it was to investigate something. He arched his eyebrows and asked, "Has it to be today?"

Faye perceived that Alexander misunderstood her, so she explained, "It's not to investigate things but to check on Jake next door."

Alexander was a little confused and asked, "Why?"

Faye said truthfully, "Alexander, Jake is actually my friend. He suffers from skin hunger. He was talking with me on the phone a moment ago, and he sounded like having a relapse."

Alexander was wordless.

Alexander was not surprised that Jake and Faye were friends. Instead, he was taken aback by the truth that a psychologist actually had a mental illness.

Alexander was stunned for a moment. Then, he scratched his hair with flour on his hand, asking, "What can I do?"

Faye seriously answered, "Hug him and say something soothing."

Alexander was wordless again.

Faye took a breath and continued, "Don't worry. Jake and James are different."

Alexander said awkwardly, "Well, I didn't think that way."

With that, Alexander briefly told his grandma what he was about to do. After hanging up, he went out to knock on Jake's door opposite.

Before long, Jake opened the door.

Catching sight of Jake, who wrapped himself up with a quilt tightly, Alexander stroked the tip of his nose and uttered unnaturally, "Hey, Faye said you were having a relapse." Jake said, "Not true."

Alexander pursed his lips and said, "If not, why are you wrapping yourself up like this? It's pretty warm in the room."

Jake always appeared gentle and elegant. However, he looked completely different now as he said indifferently, "None of your business."

With that, Jake was about to close the door.

A piece of news Alexander watched on TV not long ago flashed across his mind. It was reported that a patient with depression jumped off a building to commit suicide. Alexander got alarmed and hurriedly squeezed into the room.

He didn't want to indirectly result in Jake's death.

Alexander didn't know what skin hunger was, but he was fraught that if Jake met his maker today because he didn't take care of him, he would be the one to blame without a doubt. Because of relapse, Jake was kind of slow, so Alexander got to get in.

The next second, the door was shut with a slam, and the two guys' gazes met.

Alexander awkwardly smiled and said, "Hey, Dr. Thomas."

Jake looked cold and uttered, "Get out."

Alexander looked at Jake, who was towering over him, and then at his cold face. When he recalled that Faye told him to hug Jake, he couldn't help twitching the corner of his mouth. "How the hell can I hug him?

"A hug?

"Should I carry him in my arms?"

Alexander was thinking wildly in his mind. Out of the blue, his collar was grabbed by Jake, and he was pulled over by him.

It took Alexander by surprise. Jake hugged Alexander and said in a husky voice, "Say thank you to Faye for me."

Alexander thought inwardly, "To Faye, not me? So, I don't play a part in it at all?"

On the other side, Faye hung up and perched herself on the bed in a trance.

Thinking about Jake's words, she rubbed her ring finger.

She certainly knew that what Jake said just now was false.

When a person with a mental health issue had a relapse, what he said was not reliable. To say the least, even if his words were true, Faye wouldn't listen to him.

She insisted on curing her illness not because she was worried that she wouldn't be able to get along with Colin normally when they were in love.

It was because she was fraught that if one day they went their separate ways, she would be unable to get over it like a normal person.

In the face of a breakup, a normal person might just blubber, make a scene, drown his or her sorrows, and sleep on it.

However, if she happened to have a relapse at that time, she might hurt herself or Colin.

In a more serious scenario, she might hurt both of them.

A person with some kind of illness was a patient. Even if he or she might appear normal, people couldn't just think little of their illness.

Why was it not illegal for a psychopath to kill when he had a relapse?

It was because even the law knew that he couldn't tell right from wrong and control his own behavior when he had a relapse.

At the thought of that, her sparkling eyes darkened.

Just when Faye felt that she was going to be drowned by such feelings, she felt a kiss on her lips suddenly.

Faye came to her senses in a jiffy. She had no idea when Colin leaned over her. With a pair of glamorous eyes, he said in a magnetic voice, "Baby, look at me, and take a deep breath."
