Chapter 257 Epiphany

With that, the atmosphere in the living room turned tense in no time.

Fanny looked at Ralph in disbelief. Her lips shivered as she wanted to ask him some questions, but given so many people present, she bit her tongue.

Faye had caught sight of all the changes on Fanny's face. She stood up and asked, "How about we get out of your hair so that you two can have a word?" Ralph answered, "No need."

Fanny answered, "Sounds good."

Ralph and Fanny replied to Faye simultaneously. Faye glanced at them before walking out of the room.

Faye was the first to leave, followed by Rex. As a result, Ralph's agent was too embarrassed to stay there. He gave Ralph the once-over and left.

In the hallway.

Ralph's agent took a cigarette out of his trouser pocket and handed it to Rex with a bright smile on his face. "Rex, here. Smoke a cigarette to cool yourself down," said he. Rex sniffed as he uttered, "Save it. I didn't help you with anything."

Ralph's agent was embarrassed and stated, "Fanny and Ralph have been an on-screen couple. It's not a big deal for them to announce their relationship in reality officially now."

Rex arched his eyebrows and asked, "Why don't you relay this to Ms. Nash?"

The agent darted a glance at Faye, who was standing in front of the window while fiddling with her mobile phone, but he did not dare to go to her. He secretly stuffed a bank card into Rex's hand and uttered, "Rex, do me a favor, please."

Rex pushed the bank card back and said, "Don't get me into trouble."

In the living room, Fanny looked at Ralph with reddened eyes.

Ralph turned his head with guilt, asking, "What do you want to say to me?"

Fanny said, "Shouldn't you take the initiative to say something to me?"

Ralph kept a straight face. After a while, he turned to look at Fanny and uttered, "You have always wanted to make our relationship public, haven't you?"

Fanny answered with her teeth clenched, "Not anymore. I've recently told you to keep our relationship a secret for the five years to come."

Ralph was rendered wordless.

There were only two of them inside the room. Ralph could not even make an excuse to refute.

Fanny sat on the sofa and looked at him tearfully. "It's to create buzz, isn't it?"

The look of Fanny upset Ralph. He took a deep breath and said confidently, "Don't you keep saying you love me? Ms. Nash is trying to make you popular, and I can just ride a wave of your popularity. Doesn't it do good to us if both of us are popular?"

There were always some people who paid lip service and hurt others in the name of loving them.

Fanny looked up at Ralph. What he had done for her was still imprinted in her mind clearly. She used to love him with all her heart, but at that moment, her heart dropped.

The two fell silent awkwardly for a few minutes. Ralph sensed that something was wrong with Fanny, so he walked a few steps forward before sitting down. He reached out to hug her and comforted her, "Fanny, trust me. I did all these for our future. I don't want you to be out of my league.

"I've thought about it. When we both become popular, we'll get married and buy a big house later. Then we can let Grandma live with us and hire two caregivers for her..."

In the past, Ralph's embrace made Fanny feel warm.

However, she felt it as cold as ice now.

Ralph was on about their future.

Fanny said lightly, "Not until now do I know that not all people who have an unhappy childhood can be as lucky as Ms. Nash."

Ralph was stunned and asked, "What?"

Fanny stated, "When we were in the reality dating show, I was the first one to know about the relationship between Mr. Farrell and Ms. Nash. That day, I bumped into Mr. Farrell who was coming out of Ms. Nash's room, and I saw the hickeys on his neck. We're adults, so I surely knew what was going on with them."

Fanny paused as she took a breath before continuing, "I thought Mr. Farrell would first warn me not to tell anyone else about it, but unexpectedly, he simply asked me if there was any food in the kitchen, and he was worried that Ms. Nash would be hungry."

Mr. Farrell looked like a skirt-chaser, yet what he had done manifested his loyalty and deep affection for the woman he loved.

It was easy for people to get lost in a particular atmosphere.

For example, when people were shopping online and saw how good the skirt looked on the model, they would be inclined to think that the skirt would look good on themselves as well.

In fact, it was not.

The happiness of a couple in marriage didn't cover all the cases.

Likewise, the skirt looked good on others didn't mean that it looked good on everyone.

Fanny had an epiphany. She broke free of Ralph's hold and uttered, "I think we need to break up!"

Her words took Ralph by surprise as he asked, "What did you say?"

Brushing Ralph off, Fanny made a beeline for the door barefoot.

When the door was opened, Fanny walked to the window and said to Faye in a throaty voice, "Ms. Nash, I want a breakup."
