Chapter 1083: Inevitable

Camille smiled. "Of course, I'm helping you. It's not like he's home, and I couldn't just stay silent, could 1? Aren't you happy? We'll have someone to join us for dinner tomorrow night!"

Sienna gave a cold humph. "Thanks for considering me."

"No problem, we're in this together," Camille said with a smile, but Sienna had fallen silent.

The unexpected encounter that Camille and Sienna had today had been resolved. The two people involved were held accountable and compensated accordingly. With Ayan's presence, even simple detentions could turn into legal proceedings.

It was said that those two individuals wanted to kneel down and apologize to Camille to make amends for their mistakes. However, they couldn't even get a chance to see her now, and even if they did, an apology wouldn't serve any purpose because Ayan was determined to see this through to the end.

This incident was just a minor episode and hadn't garnered excessive attention.

Although both Camille and Sienna weren't particularly shaken by it, Camille, in the quiet of the night, found herself revisiting those moments and picturing the helplessness she felt when the events occurred in the daylight.

Back then, her primary concern had been to put a stop to the situation as quickly as possible. Now, with no one around and in a quiet space, she couldn't help but think that Ayan was right. She was relieved that they had only thrown water instead of something else, as the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Camille pursed her lips, unable to sleep and restless. She didn't dare contact Ayan because she wasn't sure what he was doing, and she didn't want to disturb him.

Camille got out of bed, went to Ayan's liquor cabinet, and poured herself two fingers of alcohol. She rarely drank, so her tolerance wasn't great. She carried the glass to the balcony, took a photo of the starry sky, and couldn't help but send it to Ayan.

However, Ayan was probably resting as he didn't reply. Camille wasn't looking for a response; she just wanted to let him know what she was doing. She set her phone aside, sipped her drink, and then leaned against the balcony's railing, gazing into the distance.

It was well past midnight, and the surroundings were dark and silent. Despite the Franklin Bay villa's proximity to the city, it had a large surrounding area, effectively isolating it from the city's hustle and bustle. It gave off the feeling of being surrounded by nature.

Even though she was alone at home and there was no one to talk to, Camille savored the atmosphere. It was quiet but didn't make her feel lonely.

Perhaps due to the couple of sips of alcohol, which were, of course, high-quality since it was Ayan's, her spirits were lifted. She contemplated calling Sienna to chat, but then her gaze inadvertently swept outside, and she noticed a car parked not far from her villa beneath a tree. There was a faint flicker of light inside the car. That wasn't a cigarette, so what could it be?

Camille's caution immediately kicked in. She couldn't be sure if the person inside the car was a resident or just passing through. However, after the day's events, she naturally had her guard up. Franklin Bay had stringent security measures, and entry and exit required comprehensive information, but anyone who had that information could enter. So, she couldn't help but think more.

Camille lifted her glass and her phone, returning to her room without showing much reaction. Once back in her room, she locked the balcony door, drew the curtains, and switched the main light for a bedside reading lamp.

Camille didn't lie down but instead walked barefoot from the master bedroom to the next-door children’s room. The window in this room faced the same direction as the master bedroom and was a bit closer to the large tree outside.

Camille tiptoed into the children’s room, where nobody lived, so the curtains were kept closed year-round. Standing by the curtains, Camille used her fingers to create a small gap and peered outside. Her gaze met her expectations as the car started its engine. Her suspicions were turning out to be true.

Were the occupants of the car watching her?

Had they left upon seeing her asleep?

It could also be a new bodyguard Ayan had assigned, but Camille was more inclined to believe it wasn't a bodyguard.

Camille stood by the window, her lips pressed together, and her face expressed deep concern and unease.

In her mind, countless possibilities and speculations had arisen, but she had no certainties since she didn't know the exact circumstances. It wasn't feasible to check the security cameras at this time, and calling Ayan was not an option since he was not in Hance City. Telling him would only make him anxious.

Camille maintained her silence, but this episode kept her awake throughout the night.

It wasn't until the day had broken that she finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion.

Ayan received her message around 6:30 in the morning. He gazed at the woman's hand in the photo, his eyes tender and filled with a distinct smile. He typed a few words, "I'm coming home to have a drink with you."

He sent the message to Camille, not expecting her to respond immediately since she had been up late drinking. Camille needed to sleep in today.

Ayan was preparing to leave for the airport with Kian. They had just exited the hotel and were about to get into the car when a woman suddenly approached Ayan to block his way. "Mr. Simpson, are you leaving Dane City?"

Ayan furrowed his brows slightly, his expression tinged with confusion. He glanced at the woman and asked Kian, "Who is she?"

Kian was also surprised and explained in a low voice, "Miss Lindsey, the project manager you stepped in for at the dinner event last night." Ayan recalled the woman faintly but remained cold and aloof. He asked, "What do you want?"

Miss Lindsey looked at Ayan with gratitude and admiration in her eyes. Her voice was soft, carrying a slightly coquettish tone as she said, "Mr. Simpson, I've come to thank you. If it weren't for your help last night, I can't imagine the consequences. I want to go to Hance City with you. I want to work at Simpson Group. Is that possible?”

Ayan's face remained stern, as if he had heard a colossal joke. He looked at the woman with a frigid tone and asked, "You want to work at Simpson Group?”

"Yes, Mr. Simpson, I can do anything you ask of me. Although I've been working for a small company, my professional skills are top-notch. If you find my management of the company's projects inappropriate, I can also assist you in your personal and professional life. I can be your personal assistant, taking care of your daily needs." The woman spoke softly, and her gentle expression seemed to convey more than just gratitude. Even Kian couldn't help but sense her ulterior motives.

Kian instinctively glanced at Ayan, and he noticed that Ayan's expression had turned extremely unpleasant. The icy look in his eyes could freeze someone on the spot.

However, the woman appeared unaware of this and continued to await Ayan's response, wearing a hopeful expression.

With her confidence in her own appearance and her straightforward implications, she likely believed that no man could resist her advances. But this time, the woman seemed to have misjudged the situation. Ayan didn't just decline; he responded with a cold and stern expression, "While I'm not yet angry, turn around and leave my sight immediately.” The woman's expression shifted slightly, and as Ayan finished speaking, he instinctively got into the car. The woman attempted to stop him, but Kian intervened.

"Miss Lindsey, please have some self-respect,” Kian said coldly. "Mr. Simpson wasn't helping you. Anyone would have stepped in because Mrs. Simpson dislikes the kind of behavior that makes women uncomfortable at social gatherings. So Mr. Simpson had to say something to anyone, not just you. I hope Miss Lindsey won't misinterpret the situation.”
