When Tom contacted me about an attack on the Blue Moon pack, I was more than surprised. They are not the strongest pack out there, I know, but they are well respected and known. They do have a lot of allies and a lot of packs that fear them. Drake might not be as bad as his father, but the Black name strikes fear. So, who could be that stupid, I had no idea.

I got even more surprised when Kyle contacted me and told me the full story. I was already on my way towards their lands after visiting my big sister – actually meeting her for the first time, but that’s another story –, but when he said that it was all because of a human woman, I had to meet her. Also, Kyle told me how much that little human was annoying Drake, so get to know her would be a nice bonus. Don’t get me wrong, Drake is one of my best friends, but I love to get under his skin. It’s just too much fun!

It took me a bit more than planned to be able to get to Blue Moon, but a couple of weeks later and I was on the grounds. Damn it, I’ve missed it. Growing up on the outskirts of the pack lands and being a naughty little girl made for my childhood to be very interesting and full of good memories with the boys. We were the best of friends, even though I knew I was a secret to them. Their father wasn’t very much of a fan of witches, and I couldn’t blame him.

A lot of people hated witches.

I get it, okay? I know that some witches could be a tool and I know our history. My kind was not innocent, at all. If you think about it, all ‘supernatural’ creatures lived among humans for thousands of years, but witches were the only ones that were virtually hunted over the years. There’s a good reason for that, not that I want to dwell on the topic.

Right now, I just wanted to see my old friends and poke fun at Drake, that a human got past his borders.

I made my way to our little spot first, if the brothers were really concerned with the situation, I know they would be out there thinking about everything they could do. But the closer I got, more my intuition told me to be discreet. So, I walked as silently as I could. I got as far as the tree line when I caught sight of them. Drake and some redheaded woman. Is she the human? Maybe, probably. I didn’t recognize her and believe me I would have. She was a sight to be seen.

Oh, and what a sight it was. I could cut the sexual tension between them with a knife. The redheaded was laughing and didn’t see the rock on her way. She was about to fall on the water when Drake caught her by the waist. It was like a romantic movie playing. I could even hear the lyrics and melody of All I Need by Within Temptation. Ok, it might not really be the romantic movie flick song, but in my head, it suited them for some reason. Call it a witch’s intuition. But I made a mistake, I took a step forward and I snapped a twig. Well, maybe that won’t be enough to make them look my way, they were already leaning in, and I was anticipating their kiss, so you could only imagine how they must be feeling.

Yeah, no such luck it seems, since they both looked at me startled. Drake’s eyes widen in shock upon realizing what I had just walked on. They looked like deers caught in the headlight and I couldn’t contain the grin on my face. It has been a long time since Drake even looked in a woman’s direction, so I was beyond happy for my friend.

“Oh, don’t stop on my account, I’m happy just watching.” I said while smiling, but it was already too late. Drake called out my name still in shock and straightened himself, dropping the gorgeous redheaded that was on his arms a few seconds ago.

The splash made me flinch a little, I was certain that she wouldn’t be very happy with the turn of events either. I glared at the Drake for what he did, and he looked at me confused. He could be dense sometimes – to put it lightly. Men. Before I could say something, the woman cursed, and my attention was on her again. She had a nasty gash on her right arm, so I hurried to help.

After spending a bit of time by her side I could tell that this woman was not human. It wasn’t just her peculiar scent jasmine and vanilla, but I could feel a presence within her. She had powers, I was sure of it. But what kind? I had no clue. With that in mind I had an idea, hahaha. Yeah, it wasn’t much, and it wouldn’t be much of a trouble, just a simple spell to make her reveal herself to me, and since she was in need of clothing, I had the perfect way to cast it without arousing suspicion on her part. Marvelous!

Kyle had said that he and Drake still had some doubts about her being 100% not a threat to the pack. Drake still thought that maybe she hadn’t crossed their border on accident while Kyle thought she might be in danger, and it could lead that danger here. I needed more information so why not try this? The worst it would happen it would be that she was indeed human, and my senses were off.

I gave her the clothes and tried to make some conversation and see if she would feel compelled to reveal her nature to me. The time passed and nothing happened. Well, nothing besides me making her upset. Clearly, she had some issues and I had just poked at them. I was curious, that was all. There’s nothing wrong in feeling attracted to Drake, he was a handsome guy, and he was very sweet once you got passed his Alpha Mode.

Mia, on the other hand, seemed to be fighting that attraction and I knew I could be nosey when it comes to my friends, so yeah, I wanted to understand why she was fighting it. Maybe I could help Drake out a little, who knows. That didn’t go quite as I had hoped, though, she got upset with me and by the time that had already passed, the spell should have worked.

I guess she is just human aft–

My line of thought was interrupted as my eyes caught the markings on Mia’s shoulders. I don’t know if she could see it, but it looked like a very ancient language written all over her body in a deep red. I almost touched her shoulder, but something stopped me. Honestly it was for the best, because a little later, after Mia saw what was happening her clothes burnt out. Just like that, it all turned to ashes.

Being speechless was not normal for me, but that’s how I was right now. What the fuck was that? I could still feel the power coming in waves from the force of the protection spell. Her whole body was covered in that ancient language, and it was kind of scary, to be honest. I have never seen anything quite like that before. And of course, now she was naked.

“Don’t move.” I told her, I could still see a few words on her skin and feel the power coming from her, so it would be best if no one else saw that. If Drake was still worried, she was a threat, well if he saw her now, he would flip.

I got some clothes from Mel’s locker and brought it up to Mia. That would do for now. I could have given her my clothes again, but just in case that my essence was a problem I opted not to. Who knows, maybe that magic had come from a subconscious part of her, and I did not want to anger it. Well, anger it more, I mean.

To say that she was not happy about finding out that I enchanted the previous clothes was an understatement. She was pissed, that’s for sure. But what really surprised me was that she didn’t know. Sure, the protection spell could have been casted without her knowing, someone who cared for her must have casted. It wasn’t that rare, some supernaturals were quite paranoid and some were difficult to have offspring, so it made sense.

But to not know she wasn’t just human? That was the strange and surprising part. Couldn’t she feel the power within herself? I was pretty sure everyone else could, at least in some ways. For me? It was like a magnet pulling me to her. My first glance at her and I saw how beautiful she was, but now I could understand that it wasn’t just her physical appearance that appealed to me. No. She had something else, and that something was calling out the witch in me.

Now I was even more intrigued by this woman seating in front of me. Who would want to hide her identity so badly that even she couldn’t know about it? I loved a good mystery and Mia was my new case to solve.
