Chapter 23

Aurora’s Pov:

“I will call you back,” The doorman whispered on the phone, covering his mouth. “Okay……Alright, talk to you later.” He hung up the call and whirled fully to me, wearing a puzzled and questioning. look.

“Ma’am, what did you just say?”

“You look worried and the issue you mentioned over the phone, it sounded urgent so let me go

instead.

“No no…no, don’t.” He waved his hands in disagreement. Shaking his head. “You shouldn’t be bothered about that……”

“You got scolded by Mr Lee because of me so let me help with this and may I ask what is the matter, you looked troubled?”

“My daughter is at the hospital and I can’t leave my post and go visit her, the last time I left……you went missing and I wouldn’t want Mr Fraser to get upset again. But don’t worry about it…..”

“I will convince Mr Lee,” I chirped in, Another surprised look appeared on his face, his l*ps parted. His eyes held questions in them, gawking at me like I was some strange creature. “I will convince Otto to let me visit your daughter or I could convince him to let you go.”

“Also you got into trouble the other day because of me so let me apologize by going in your stead…….. I prompted, half expecting him to accept and refuse at the same time. A small amount of silence swept across us, his wrinkled tired eyes stared at me. His l*ps parted but no words came out, there was a mixture of looks in his eyes. A troubled and uncertain look etched across his face.

“I don’t know…..I don’t think……” He trailed off, still retaining that worried look across his face. I know he didn’t appreciate my offer and might be finding a way to deny me. “Ma’am, I don’t think Sir will be happy with this.”

“That’s why I said I will convince him,” I threw him a reassuring smile. “You don’t have to be worried. I’m his wife and I believe he will listen to me. And can you call me by my name, Aurora? Calling me ma’am makes me uncomfortable.”

“Ohh,” he made a sound under his breath. Prolly taken aback by my words. I mean he was old enough to be my father so I kinda found it unsettling to have him call me ma’am. It looked like father was calling me that and I found it strange.

my

He nodded. A pale smile adorned his face but that smile didn’t reach his eyes. He still had that uncertain glint in them and his l*ps were pressed together in a thin line. He rubbed his temple, staring at me for what seemed like forever before averting his gaze from me, and nodded again. “I will try but I’m still troubled.”

I lifted a brow. Questioning with my eyes.

Chapter 23

‘I mean you don’t have to go through the trouble of visiting my daughter. I’d do just fine. When I get my days off, I will visit her.”

‘I guess no amount of my words can convince you,” I sighed. “Still, I’m going. How long has your laughter been at the hospital? And when was the last time you saw her?”

Two months……‘

Two months?” I gasped. “That’s too long. But you don’t have to bother, I will go and I know Mr Lee will approve.” I didn’t wait to hear another word he’d utter and spun away from him. Sprinting down the hallway and I heard him call after me but I had gone farther to hear what he’d say next. I didn’t know why I was doing this, am I that desperate to see the outside world again? Or was I just trying to help out? I mean he really sounded so desperate to meet his hospitalized daughter but couldn’t go.

With the many thoughts boristoring in me, I approached Otto Fraser’s room. My heart in my palm, I gulped down. How do I put this? How do I convince him? I mean today he did loosen up a little to

the the point of calling me a crybaby. A chuckle escaped my l*ps at the remembrance of the way flour smeared his face

“What’s so funny?” The smile on my face disappeared when a voice jolted me back to the presence and when I whirled my head in the direction of the voice, I saw the man that was with Otto the first time he came to my house. Wilson. He walked up to me, harboring a questioning look in his eyes.

“You were having that smile on your face while standing in front of his door? Did Feaser do something that made you smile?”

“No!” I snapped immediately. “I….it’s just….I remembered a really funny memory. It was nothing. related to Mr Lee.”

He stared at me. A brow raised up in skepticism. His eyes gleamed with doubt while nodding, prolly

on in.” He urged. giving me the benefit of doubt “Ohh…okay. But why are you standing here, go

“Umm, I can’t until Mr Lee ushers me in.”

“What do you mean?” He furrowed his brows.

“I’m not allowed to enter until he tells me to.” I answered.

“Wow…..” Wilson’s mouth dropped open, staring at me with eyes filled with awe. “This is wow…… Why…..why would he give such a rule to the one he calls his wife……..” He kept mute, directing his gaze on Otto’s door. His gaze lingered there and for some unknown reasons it was becoming awkward for me. I can’t tell if I should stay or leave.

I jerked a bit when he snapped his head to me. “Tell me…..I know what I’m about to ask is quite personal, private but I’m curious. Have you two consummated your marriage?”

“Huh? I don’t get you.” I innocently asked and honestly I didn’t understand, maybe because of his use of English.

Chapter 23

“I mean…..your first night as married couples?”

That’s what he meant by consummate or whatever word he just mentioned. Well, I was bothered. This wasn’t a real marriage, I had no wedding and no one knows the Fired to him except my family members. So this was just a marriage of convenience, if my father died his

part of the deal, I’d not be here.

A low chuckle escaped my l*ps, lowering my head to the floor. Grateful he didi ke price of the sound I made.

“Your silence says it all.” He asserted. ‘Didn’t know he’d still keep up with this “Though he whimpered that to himself, I heard it. Silence ensued between us but he broke a quirky “lomead of standing here, go on in.”

“But that would be disobeying Mr Lee,” I protested.

“You are his wife now……

Technically, I am his wife on that contract form not a real one. I said to myself.

Wilson ended up opening the door of Otto’s room but he wasn’t there.

“I will get him for you,” Wilson smiled and turned away from me. Sprinting down the hallway filled with rooms opposite each other to the one at the end corner of the hallway where I had seen Oto walked out from. Wilson walked in and after a short time, he walked out. Shaking his head.

I wonder what room is that. Never bothered to check it out.

“He isn’t there as well. I wonder where he is as he gives me heads up if he was heading out.” Wabon walked back to me.

I strolled the whole nook and corner of the house in search of him. Where could he be 1 queried within me but at the same time I asked myself why I was looking for him? Just because I just wanted to seek his permission. I guess I wasn’t totally free. I will have to gain the approval from others to be able to do things. How exactly did my life turn like this?

I walked out to the swimming pool, the waters shimmering and twinkling under the win, casting a golden color on it. I, Initially, wanted to pass the swimming pool by when something vanight attention. A figure that looked like human figure and resembled Ono’s figure. The home was just lying beneath the water and when I took a closer look to satisfy my doubt. I gaspest

Is he drowning? Trepidation surged through me, unable to process what to do. Whether it be was drowned already? What if he’s in danger beneath the water? Without thinking. I wanted to pump in but held myself back. The trauma I had for waters took over me and most important. I cant

swim.

I looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone but saw no one and it wasn’t moving in

the water. He remained still while sitting up. I got to save him if it meant risking myself. He could be in danger.

Without thinking about my trauma and for the fact I couldn’t swim. I jumped into the water, swimming toward him but it was becoming difficult. My trauma started to take fully over me as I began to sink. I tried to save myself but the waters were way to powerful for me.

I sank further, drawing deeper into the pool and my eyes were half shut when a fuzzy figure swam toward me. I saw his mouth move but didn’t know what he said under water. That figure resembled Otto but my vision had weakened to confirm it.

My b*dy was shutting down as the figure continued to swim toward me before my eyes closed.

They shut and all that was there was complete darkness.
