A Takeover 

Violet POV 

Mimzy picked up Dave to go to the animal kingdom. I followed them, sighing in relief and despair. Even though I was in Disneyland, I couldn’t help thinking of my little tryst with Dane on the Ferris wheel. It just made me squirm all the more. Made me want him more than 

ever. 

But I had to stay away from him because of my son. The thought brought tears in my eyes. I had to sacrifice my feelings for my little bundle of joy. 

We reached home tired and hungry. Mimzy and I prepared a delightful meal of noodles with a lot of vegetables which all of us had heartily. Mimzy left soon, thanking me for the outing. “I’ve never had so much fun, Violet. Thank you so much!” She hugged me tightly, and I closed my eyes. I needed that hug. 

“You’re welcome, Mimzy,” I said, patting her back. As soon as she left, I picked up Dave to take him to bed. 

“Mommy, do you like the man who met you at Disneyland?” he asked with furrowed brows as I laid him on the bed and tucked him beneath the blanket. 

Brushing his locks from his forehead, I said, “I like you.” 

He closed his eyes with a soft smile. “I know, but if you like, you can be his girlfriend.” 

My eyebrows shot to the roof. My son had been extremely choosy about men in my life and his approval meant a lot. He approved only

this time and his approval was all wrong. 

“Why? You don’t like him?” He peeked at me with one open eye, curiously. 

I chuckled. “You better sleep, love. I like him just like Mimzy.” 

He laughed. “Okay. I love Disneyland. Can we go again?” Then he closed his eyes and went off to sleep almost instantly.

“Sure…” I murmured. When I hit bed, I too went off to sleep instantly. 

But the next day brought something strange into my life. 

“Violet!” Martha came to my office, looking oddly scared and nervous. 

“Hey Martha, what’s up?” I asked, swiveling in my chair while I checked on the statistics related to Tessa. “Have you signed Emily Thorpe?” I hoped Jayden hadn’t taken up Dane’s offer of a million dollars. Emily and I disliked each other. It would be a nightmare working with her. 

“Something else has cropped up!” she said with an air of mystery and 

irritation. 

“What?” I couldn’t help feeling nervous myself. 

“Jayden has called for a meeting in the main hall and every staff has to attend,” she informed. “In twenty minutes,” she added, looking at her 

watch. 

“Why?” I leaned forward, not feeling good about this. 

“I have no idea!” 

Yesterday, Jayden hadn’t called me even once, and that was a red flag. Usually, he would call me at least two to three times a day. I stared at

“Carry the documents related to every model signed by you for the meeting. Those are his orders.” She shook her head and sat down on the chair opposite to me. She clasped her forehead. 

“Martha, are you hiding something from me? Please let me know. I will die of anxiety!” I said as I circled the table and reached her. 

“I wish I knew, Violet. How was your date, by the way?” 

“It was disastrous!” I rolled my eyes as I leaned against the table. resting my hips on it. 

She gritted her teeth. “Just collect all the relevant documents. He hasn’t told me also what is it he wants to discuss. The meeting is much anticipated and people are nervous. 

“I can imagine!” Quickly I went to the computer and opened the folder where I had all my files, opened them and hit the print button. As the printer started printing. I said to Martha, “I am sure this is about Emily Thorpe. Dane Llyod offered Jayden a million dollars if I would take Emily, but I am telling to Martha- I won’t take her! Even if that means that I have to resign from my job!” Goddess, I was so angry. Images of Dane’s finger in my p**sy kept flashing now and then, making me want him crazily. 

She chuckled and looked at her watch. “It’s time to go. Are you done?” 

I collected all the papers, stapled them. “Let’s go!” 

The meeting was supposed to take place in the main hall, which was on the top floor of the building. Our agency occupied two floors. They only used the top floor for large meetings or conferences. As we stepped into the elevator, I saw several people entering. We all exchanged nervous greetings. Martha caught my hand and murmured,

“I hope Jayden hasn’t done anything stupid!” I hoped that too. 

When we reached the main hall, everyone sat down in their seats. across the oval–shaped table. Jayden, who usually sat at the head of the table, was standing and watching us all. His expressions were unreadable. Jayden began, “Good morning, all!” after we had all settled. into our chairs. “This is an emergency meeting. Last night, I met Mr. Dane Llyod, who had come to me with a proposition I couldn’t reject.” His gaze fell on me, and my hands turned clammy. Just then, the door opened. I whipped my head to see Dane Llyod coming in. On his arm was Emily Thorpe. F***. 

Emily glanced at me and smirked. What the hell was going on? They both walked to the head of the table where Jayden made them sit with a grin plastered on his face as everyone watched with confusion and curiosity. 

Jayden continued, “Mr. Dane Llyod offered me six million dollars to buy my modeling agency!” 

What the fuck! A restless murmur flooded the hall as I stared at Dane, who was staring at me with a dark expression. 

“The offer is too good and so I have decided to sell my company to him.” Jayden grinned as he looked adorably at Dane. 

“But the company is worth over eight million dollars!” I blurted. This is a takeover! 

Dane brushed something off his navy coat. He took a deep breath and said, “I increase my offer to ten million. I hope it covers the value?” 

Jayden’s mouth dropped. My stomach plummeted to the floor. Dane was trying to control me like this. My gaze traveled to Emily, who looked like she owned all of us. She scoffed at me and I knew that this was going to turn into hell.

“I will process the papers today, Mr. Dane,” said a joyous Jayden. “But I have a small request- You have to retain all the employees.” 

“We will retain all your employees,” Emily chuckled. “Except one.”
