Chapter 49

According to the servant who came to report, just outside the main house, a van suddenly showed up out of the blue, and with the doors flung open, they chucked out a big burlap sack.

The doorman watched as the sack, dumped on the ground, started moving and heard a woman’s voice from inside. They mustered up the courage to untie the sack and there she was, Anna, red–faced and stark naked.

The doorman freaked out, quickly stuffed Anna back into the sack, and together they hauled the sack inside.

Simon, David, and Nydia, hearing from the servant that Anna was in trouble, bolted from the main hall and bumped right into the two doormen lugging the sack.

“Where’s Anna?” Nydia demanded.

“Ms. Anna Dempsey’s inside,” the doorman in the lead pointed into the sack.

Nydia’s eyes bulged, and she nearly couldn’t catch her breath, “How can you treat Anna like this! Put her down, now!”

With Nydia’s sharp scolding, the doormen hurriedly set down the sack they’d been shouldering.

Nydia rushed over and untied the rope sealing the sack.

“Mrs. Nydia Dempsey, Ms. Anna Dempsey, she…”

Before the doorman could finish his warning, it was too late; a nude Anna appeared before

Nydia.

“Ahhh!!!” In an instant, Nydia’s face turned white as a ghost, and she plopped down on the ground.

As for Anna, finally breathing in fresh air, she lunged at the closest doorman. The doorman was bowled over, and Anna started ripping at his clothes and planting wild kisses on his face.

“Ms. Anna Dempsey! Ms. Anna Dempsey, stop it! I’ve got a girlfriend already! Don’t do this!” The doorman clutched at his collar, desperately trying to protect his virtue.

Simon and David, glimpsing Anna’s bare backside, turned ashen. David quickly propped up the old man who looked like he was about to pass out.

Nydia called over some maids to help, and they separated Anna from the doorman she was assaulting.

Athena stood on the balcony, looking down at the chaotic scene below. Seeing Nydia unable to get a grip on the situation, she turned and walked towards the rockery and fountain.

“Everybody, back off,” Athena commanded, her voice filled with authority. The servants‘ brains hadn’t caught up yet, but their bodies had already moved aside.

Chapter 49

Athenia grabbed a huge hose, about ten centimeters in diameter, and blasted Anna straight in the face.

The cold water drenched her from head to toe, and as water rushed into her nostrils, Anna coughed violently. While Anna was coughing her lungs out, Athena kept hosing her down.

“Athena! What the hell are you doing?!” Nydia tried to rush over and grab the hose, but Athena tossed it aside.

She lifted her delicate face, reminding Nydia, “I just snapped your precious daughter back to reality.”

Chilled by the cold water, Anna came to her senses a bit, looking blankly around at everyone before looking down at herself. The next second, Anna let out a shrill scream, covering herself top and bottom.

Nydia hurried over, ripped a coat off a servant, and draped it over Anna. But one coat covered the top, and left the bottom exposed.

Watching the scene unfold, Athena remembered what the old man had said to her earlier, her lips curling in mockery, “Grandpa Simon, is this the mother of the future heir to the Dempsey family? Tell me, which high and mighty family in Stardale City would take a shine to her?”

Taking a closer look at Anna’s complexion, Athena figured out she’d been hit with a love potion. Just yesterday, this woman had used the potion on Newman, and today she’d been struck by it herself.

Athena chuckled to herself. Newman was always decisive and ruthless; he never had a soft

spot for anyone.

Simon, his voice hoarse, called out, “Quick, take Anna away!”

Nydia stripped another coat off a servant and wrapped it around Anna’s waist.

Surrounded by a few servants, the soaking wet Anna was led away. She was half–awake, caught between fire and ice. On her way out, Anna saw Athena watching her from afar, as if the latter was enjoying a clown’s performance.

Anna’s glare was sharp as knives, aimed right at Athena’s face! Once she regrouped, she was determined to trample the haughty Athena underfoot!

Athena didn’t bother with Anna, instead turning her head, her lips curling into a smirk at the sight of the old man’s face, which was as dark as the bottom of a pot.

“What’s there to gloat about?” Simon barked at her, “Did you have something to do with Anna

turning out like this?!”

Athena lowered her lashes, hiding the rebellious spark in her eyes. She sure didn’t want to take the fall for Newman.

“Grandpa Simon, before we get to the bottom of this, let’s not jump to conclusions and start flinging mud my way.”

Chapter 49

Athena asked the doormen, who had escaped Anna’s clutches, “Did you guys catch the license plate of the car that dumped Anna?”

The doormen relayed the license number to Athena and Simon, and upon checking, they found out that the car belonged to the Bradshaw family.

Athena overheard Simon muttering to himself, “It doesn’t make sense…Newman has no beef with Anna, and besides, Anna and Zoey…”

Simon stopped mid–sentence. Athena’s eyebrows raised, pondering what the old man hadn’t finished saying.

The old man quickly masked the true emotions in his eyes, hardened his face again, and sternly warned Athena, “There’s a bit of a misunderstanding between Anna and Newman. As long as you don’t stir the pot, Anna’s relationship with the Bradshaw family can only get stronger! You should focus more on your son!

That kid who doesn’t know jack about anything; if he gets expelled from the international kindergarten, I hope you’ll take him to another city’s kindergarten, or maybe to a school for children with disabilities.”

Athena’s porcelain face grew cold, her fingers curling inward, trembling slightly, “Kevin’s intelligence is fine! Which school he attends is none of your concern, Grandpa Simon!”

Simon hit Athena right in the feels. The old man scoffed coldly and, seeing Athena turn to leave, called out. “The kid’s exam results must be out by now, Athena. If you can’t bring yourself to do it, then I’ll just have to ring up the head of the preschool myself and sort out the dropout paperwork!”

Athena whipped around just in time to see the old man reaching for his phone. Simon had already been in cahoots with Stardale City’s education bigwigs behind the scenes. Once Kevin got kicked out, no other preschool but the special needs ones would touch him with a ten–foot

pole.

“Hello, is this Mr. Simon Dempsey?” President Lee’s voice was bubbling with joy as she answered the phone, recognizing the caller ID.

The old man didn’t beat around the bush with President Lee, cutting straight to the chase, “President Lee, I need you to draft up a dropout notice for Kevin, slap the official seal on it, and send it over to the Dempsey family villa.”

President Lee thought she’d misheard, “Mr. Dempsey, why on earth are you suddenly pushing for Kevin to drop out?”

The old man was adamant, “The Dempsey family can’t afford to let that kid embarrass us any longer. President Lee, just sign off on the dropout notice and I’ll send someone to pick the kid up.”

“I won’t sign it; I won’t let Kevin leave our preschool!” President Lee thought she was being poached by another preschool and she was livid, raising her voice in a roar, “A child prodigy like Kevin, with an IQ of 200, is exactly the kind of student we focus on nurturing!”

Chapter 49

“What IQ 200? Other kids his age know over two thousand words! Kevin can’t even get 26 letters straight!”

The old man’s whiskers quivered as President Lee’s voice came through. “Kevin has aced every single subject this time around, Mr. Dempsey. Who have you been listening to, to belittle your own great–grandson like this!”

Athena didn’t catch what President Lee and Simon said next, but she saw the old man’s eyes. go wide, his mouth agape, and a shaky voice spill from his throat, “Full marks?!!”
