Chapter 3

“Of course! Wherever Mommy goes, I go!” The little guy’s big eyes sparkled, beautiful like polished onyx.

Eileen couldn’t help but gaze at him, feeling a deep sense of happiness each time she looked at her son’s face. She had given birth to such an adorable little fellow.

“Alright, then let’s pack our things. We’ll head to the airport tomorrow afternoon.”

“Okay!” The little guy nodded vigorously and scampered off to his room to pack his clothes.

Eileen sighed. Since being driven out by her father five years ago, she had been living abroad. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to return; it was that her former home had no place for her anymore.

Even after giving birth to her child abroad, she hadn’t informed her father. Now, due to work, she had to return to her home country, and she planned to visit him.

After all, he was her father.

Three dava

later, in the evening at the international airport, Eileen pushed a cart with her little boy sitting calmly on top of the suitcase, his big watery eyes looking around curiously, fascinated by everything in his homeland.

As Eileen emerged, two men in suits politely approached, saying, “Ms. Norman, we are here on behalf of Mrs. Nielsen to pick you up. The car is waiting outside, please…”

Eileen, with a polite expression, declined. “I appreciate the Nielsen family’s gesture, but I don’t need it, thank you.”

“Ms. Norman, Mrs. Nielsen really hopes to meet you,” the middle-aged man urged.

Eileen knew Mrs. Nielsen meant well, but she had no intention of accepting her

kindness.

“Please convey to Mrs. Nielsen that my mother did her duty in saving lives. She did not do it for any reward.” With that, Eileen pushed her cart towards the airport’s main exit.

One of the men behind her took out a phone, relaying into it, “Mr. Nielsen, Ms. Norman has refused us.”

Outside the airport, three identical black Rolls-Royces were parked, their secretive and secure windows blocking all prying eyes.

The man in the middle row put down his phone, his gaze fixed on the exit, where he

saw a young woman pushing a cart out.

She was dressed in a white shirt and simple jeans, her long hair tied up, revealing a

fresh and full face that stood out in the crowd with her fair, snow-like skin and a relaxed demeanor.

Winston’s attention was suddenly drawn to the little boy who hopped off the cart, about four or five years old, dressed in a gray hoodie and shorts. His thick, soft hair covered his little forehead, and his small features were already defined, adorable, and endearing.

Eileen squatted down to straighten the little boy’s clothes, her eyes filled with indescribable tenderness and affection.

‘Who is this child? Has Eileen gotten married?’ he thought..

If that’s the case, then he wouldn’t have to fulfill his grandmother’s wish to marry her.

Winston watched the taxi leave, then his own convoy started moving.

At that moment, his phone rang. He glanced at it and answered, “Hello! Belen.”

“Winston, when are you coming to see me? I really miss you,” cooed Belen’s voice.

“I’m quite busy lately. I’ll come over when I’m free,” Winston responded in a low voice.

“You promise. Belen whined.

“I promise,” he replied patiently.

At the Nielsen mansion….

A silver-haired elderly lady was sipping her coffee, listening to a report from her subordinate. She looked up in surprise. “What? Eileen has a child? Is she married?”

“Our investigation shows that the child’s father has never appeared. It seems she had the child out of wedlock.”

“Poor child, becoming a single mom at such a young age.” Mrs. Nielsen sighed, her mind flashing to the image of the policewoman who died tragically after being stabbed 18 times, feeling an unspeakable sense of guilt.

Just then, a tall and elegant figure entered the hall. Winston was back.

“Winston, come here.” Mrs. Nielsen beckoned her grandson.

Winston sat beside her. “Grandma, Eileen has been refusing us, and I was thinking…”

“I just found out that Ms. Norman is an unmarried single mother. Winston, you must

take care of them-a mother and child all alone in the world.”

At that, Winston was speechless.

He thought that his grandmother had given give up, but she seemed even more determined now.

“Grandma, I don’t necessarily have to marry her. We can repay and compensate her in

other ways,” he calmly suggested, hoping that his grandmother would get his point.

When the elderly lady heard that, her gaze sharpened, and she immediately dismissed his suggestion. “No, you must marry Eileen. You need to take care of her and protect her for the rest of your life.”

Winston’s brows furrowed slightly. Marrying a woman that he had no feelings for wouldn’t benefit either of them. However, his grandmother was adamant, seeing compensating Eileen as a matter of utmost importance, leaving him no room to refuse.

“You don’t know how many times Officer Hayley was stabbed while protecting you. The scene was horrifying, blo ody…”

Mrs. Nielsen’s voice was filled with sorrow. Suddenly, she looked up at Winston with determination in her voice. “Even if you take care of her daughter for lifetimes, it wouldn’t be enough to compensate her.”

Winston silently nodded. “Alright, I will marry her.”

But for these five years, his heart couldn’t forget another woman, whom he equally owed and needed to make amends with. But he hadn’t yet considered discussing this matter with his grandmother.

He knew very well that whether he brought it up or not, it wouldn’t change the fact that

por his grandmother wanted him to marry Eileen.

“Eileen has a child,” he mentioned.

“Yes! A boy, three or four years old. I don’t know which heartless man abandoned them. Winston, you can’t hold that against the child,” Mrs. Nielsen said, showing unusual affection.

Winston was speechless.

He thought to himself. ‘Is this a buy one, get one free deal?’

Treasure Studio, a century-old jewelry store, had been acquired by Eileen’s boss. It was a renowned domestic brand.

To expand this brand, Eileen, as the Chief Designer of Queen Rose, a global diamond

brand, was assigned back to her home country.

She moved into an apartment that had been arranged by the company. With her son asleep, she busied herself in organizing their new home. In less than two hours, it was transformed into a cozy and sweet place that was fit for her and her son’s life.

Looking at her son’s sleeping face, she felt too weary to sleep herself.

The events that unfolded in this city five years ago still troubled her-her best friend’s betrayal, her half-sister’s cruelty, and her father kicking her out.

In these five years, she didn’t know how she had endured it all-raising her son alone, learning design, and gradually becoming the chief designer of her company. She worked harder than others, and fortune seemed to favor her as well.

She had reached this fortunate point in her life with savings, her son, and a job that gave her freedom.

Picking up her phone, she looked at her father’s number. She wanted to call, but hesitated.

She wondered, ‘After five years, is he still angry?”

She sighed and then decided against it.
