To save Vector Vista and the Richardson family, he could only clean up Hanley's mess.

It was Hanley's fault, yet they had lived in turmoil for two decades.

They loathed the same person. Ironically, they were at odds because of him.

"Can't you two talk this out? Why all the drama?" Twenty years of strife again reared its ugly head, the same dilemma, but this time, Jennifer decided to protect the baby growing inside Leanne. "Anne, let's go inside and rest."

She wanted to take Leanne away from the brewing storm, but Leanne said, "This involves my parents. I have no reason to hide and let Curtis face it alone."

She looked at Maddox, her demeanor unyielding. "He's doing this for me. If you're upset, take it out on me."

Maddox remarked, "You two are truly in this together, aren't you?"

"Why yell?" Curtis hugged Leanne. "You're freaking out your grandkid, and Mom ain't gonna be happy about it."

Maddox choked on his words. He thought he'd been speaking calmly, hadn't he?

While realizing the situation, his gaze shifted to Leanne's oversized sweater. Jennifer said, "Leanne is pregnant. Please keep it gentle."

The child they lost years ago remained Jennifer's sorrow, and seeing her grieve was Maddox's burden, too.

"How far along?" Maddox asked.

"Five months," Leanne answered.

Five months, and it was about the same time when they lost their child. Jennifer was six months pregnant then, and the baby was already taking shape.

Maddox fell silent for a moment, then softened his tone further.

"We owe you for what happened back then. Mom put so much thought and love into you and tried to make amends by leaving you 5% of the company shares. But at this point, even if we put him behind bars, i won't bring back your parents. For your fixation, is it worth it to destroy VectorVista's century-old foundation and all of Dad's hard work?"

"They were my parents, not merchandise. You can't measure their worth by money," Leanne said.

"I love my parents just as Curtis loves you. To us, you're everything. Vector Vista Bank might be tempting, a magnet for those who would kill for it, but to Curtis and me, it's worthless." "That 5% might represent a fortune, but it doesn't weigh as much as my parents."

"Curtis never intended to compete with Phillip for VectorVista. What he cared about was the unequal love you showed. He might not want it even if you handed Vector Vista to him." Maddox's expression softened.

Curtis had never shared his inner struggles with anyone, but she understood them all.

His heart melted. He tousled Leanne's hair, holding her hand firmly, unyieldingly addressing Maddox.

"Dad, I'm giving you a chance because I know you. You've regretted what happened twenty years ago." "Now, you're facing the same choice," he said, "I'm giving you a chance to fix it."
