Chapter 26 - White as Snow

She hugged herself as she stood naked before me, trying to stifle the urge to shiver in the cold. Her nipples erect and her skin covered in bumps as her hair stood on end trying to trap the warmth around her. This is why I just shifted in the clothes I wore; I had no need to freeze my balls off.

Closing her eyes, she leapt forward, and her shift was the most instant and graceful I had ever witnessed. If I had blinked, I would have missed the phenomenon of the white wolf bursting free and landing in the snow in front of me, standing a head taller than me at least, she came forward, nuzzling around my head. A hum reverberated from her chest as she sniffed at me and continued to rub around my neck and I couldn’t help but mirror her actions, I hadn’t spent enough time with her wolf.

And to say the least, I was ecstatic she was no longer afraid, that the bond between her human and wolf form was growing. It would be lying if I said I was hoping it would strengthen her attachment to me – after all, it’s rare enough for one to reject their mate, let along leave their mate indefinitely.

Somehow, her fur was whiter than the snow, sparkling in the sunlight and shimmering as she moved, it was truly like a hundred tiny diamonds sparkled under her fur, tucked away.

She was beautiful, and I would do anything to protect her.
