Chapter 39 Naughty But Adorable Woman 

He quickly turned to stare at Calista, his expression becoming more and more nervous, sweat drops appearing on his forehead as the voices in the recording played clearly, Calista smiled calmly. 

“Dr. Larkin, do you know what sort of influence the Staffords have? If this recording gets to my father, not matter how gentle a man he is, he will make sure your reputation goes down the drain.” 

The words ‘reputation go down the drain‘ sent Jonathan into a panic and he dropped the phone to the floor. He quickly bent over to pick it up in fright, but Calista stepped on his hand, and the broken glass pieces stabbed into his hand. 

He screamed in pain but nobody came to his rescue. He tried to take his hand away but Calista was too strong. and he was too scared to try to fight back. “Ms. Stafford, I’ve underestimated you! Yes, yes it was Yelena who seduced me first! You know, people like me have to listen to what she says, right? Ms. Stafford, 1. beg you! Let me off this time! I won’t do this again!” 

More sweat drops appeared on his forehead, but it wasn’t out of fear but out of pain! His left hand was full of glass shards and it hurt him tremendously. 

Calista peered down at Jonathan who was bent over and hands on the floor and laughed a little. “Dr. Larkin, you’re mistaken. I have no intention of exposing your dirty deeds.” 

She had no such intention but she was still stepping so hard on his hand?! 

At that moment, Jonathan suddenly felt like crawling away, but he was still within sight of Calista and couldn’t move away at all. 

“Dr. Larkin, you know that I’m sick, so my brain is full of strange ideas, but I’ve never had a chance to fulfil 

of them. But your conversation has given me some inspiration, and I’ve thought of a wonderful game to play. You wanna play?”

Jonathan obviously had no choice but to play, right? He quickly nodded and Calista finally took her foot away. His hand was already a bloodied mess, and the extent of the injury was terrifying. 

Calista put a card on the table and said, “There’s a million dollars on this card, why don’t you do something for me? After you complete this mission I’ll give you another two million.” 

Jonathan was holding onto his hand, and all he wanted was to get away from this demon! He didn’t want money anymore. He wanted to leave! 

“Since you’re already here, you can’t escape really. I know your parents are in Machia and you have a wife and a younger sister living in Loang. I’m more formidable than you think so if you agitate a sick person like me and incur some sort of bad reaction from me, that won’t be too good for you, don’t you think so?” 

Every word she said made Jonathan’s face paler by one shade. She knew everything! Everything!

Jonathan looked up at Calista and felt he was looking at a demon! 

Calista smiled, “I just need you to be obedient and help me do one thing, and I’ll give you two million. Do two things and I’ll give you three million. If you stay on my side, you’ll be rewarded beyond your imagination.”

Calista’s generosity made Jonathan continue to hold his bleeding hand, liis expression changing several 

times 

Seeing that he was still hesitating. Calista smiled again, “Yelena didn’t tell you who my fiancé is huh?“. 

Jonathan looked at Calista, his face already drenched in sweat. Did this woman come from some amazing background? 

Calista just laughed, “My fiancé is Kallum Fairchild, not sure if you’ve heard of him.” 

Kallum Fairchild?!! 

Jonathan felt his body go limp and he simply collapsed onto the sofa. 

Calista and Kallum’s engagement was only known in the elite circles, so if Yelena did not mention this, Jonathan would have never known. And now that he knew about it, he suddenly felt like his soul was being shredded into pieces. 

The Fairchilds were an aristocratic family, becoming more and more prosperous with each generation! 

As a doctor he knew much about wealthy families, so he was very well informed about the Fairchilds. They were not just a corporation but a wealthy and powerful conglomerate! 

Calista watched his face change several colors before swirling her wine glass and asked directly, “Got it?” 

Jonathan clenched his teeth hard. “I’ll listen to y 

you!” 

Calista went phew and then smiled as she downed the glass of wine. “I look forward to working with you.” 

The next day, Calista woke up in her rented apartment. 

Yelena didn’t believe her excuse about going to stay at the Fairchilds, but as long as she went home daily at the right time to do her ‘psychiatric treatment, Yelena didn’t object to her staying outside. 

Calista rubbed her eyes, and then started practicing once she was more awake. After going through so much pain, her body’s active energy was increasing and becoming stronger. Calista saw that she had purged a lot of toxins from her body, so she went to bathe. 

When she came out, she realized there was someone sitting on the sofa. Thankfully this time Calista had learnt her lesson and walked out in her pajamas – otherwise she’d have been indecently exposed again. 

“Jarrett?” 

Calista was surprised he had come looking for her so quickly. 

“Are you here to beg me?” asked she. Jarrett had regained his usual hefarious demeanor, and there was no trace of that uncontrollable fury he displayed two nights ago, all ready to kill her. Now he was dressed in a suit and wearing his glasses and looked like a young successful businessman. 

It wasn’t hard to find where Calista was staying. Jarrett saw that her reaction was very calm and felt like this wasn’t fun anymore. “As Ms. Stafford has said, I’m here to beg you.” 

Calista scanned him and then sat down on the next armchair. She used a towel to dry her hair as she said, “Since I’ve already taken your deposit, then I will definitely save your brother. But then you slashed me the other night, how do we settle this?”

Calista lightly snorted. “Smuggling is an offence, and possession of illegal firearms is a bigger crime. None of those guys at the jetty were good guys anyway, so what’s wrong with calling the police?” 

Jarrett pursed his lips together, the eyes behind his lenses looking more and more malicious. 

“And as for you, if you hadn’t confirmed that something’s up with your second uncle, why would you come here? I’ve given you such an important piece of information, why do you say asking for compensation is going too far?” 

Jarrett relaxed, his lips curled up in a smile. “Ms. Stafford is right, this information deserves some 

remuneration.” 

He stood up and walked right in front of Calista, and asked teasingly, “So what do you want? Me?” 

Calista continued drying her hair and replied calmly. “Why, you want to go up against Kallum?” 

“What you’ve fought for becomes more valuable, no?” 

Calista nodded and glanced up at him. “You’re not bad, you can be my backup then.” 

Jarrett laughed. This was the first time someone dared to say he could be a backup lover! This woman was really asking to die! 

In the next moment, Jarrett’s gun was up against Calista’s head, and she froze and stopped drying her hair. “Ok what do you want?” 

Jarrett slowly wiped the smile of his face and his expression became extremely cold, and there was a murderous glint in his eyes. 

“You’re a really incredible person and you know a lot of things. Others would have been easily manipulated by you, but you don’t understand what sort of person I am at all. You think I would allow someone with cruel intentions and an unknown agenda to save my younger brother?”
