Chapter 646

Jared was, for once, at a loss.

Just the thought of Agnes left Jared feeling utterly helpless.

He was always a man of purpose, always sure of what he desired deep down.

But now, for the first time, he was lost.

For the past four years, he had but one goal – to find Agnes.

But now that he had found her, he was left in a state of confusion.

He had no idea where to go from here.

His feelings towards Agnes were always a mix of helplessness and a lack of control.

Jared sighed.

At noon, Leo brought him lunch.

Thinking that Nocturne would be waking soon, Jared instructed, “Have the cafeteria make some vegetable soup.”

“Of course, sir.”

Leo barely made it to the door when Jared called him back, “Never mind, I’ll take him out for a meal.”

Just as expected, Nocturne woke up shortly after.

Ryder had him on a new medication.

His sleeping periods had reduced to 16 hours.

However, the effects of the new medication were yet to be determined.

Nocturne woke up, “Mr. Jared, where are we?”

“We’re in my office.”

Despite knowing that Jared was his father, Nocturne still called him Mr. Jared.

Jared rose from his chair and said, “Let’s go, I’ll take you out for some food.”

Nocturne took the initiative, “Mister, I want cake.”

“Well, let’s go get you a cake then.”

“Mister, I want to eat cake with my mom, because today is my birthday.”

Jared was taken aback.

Today was Christmas, and he had no idea it was also Nocturne’s birthday.

But Jared had once seen Agnes‘ prenatal check–up reports.

According to the reports, Nocturne’s birthday wasn’t supposed to be on Christmas.

Which meant Nocturne was born prematurely.

Jared frowned, why was Nocturne premature?

The thought made his heart ache.

He wasn’t there when Agnes gave birth.

How great it would have been if they hadn’t separated, he would have been by her side.

Jared snapped out of his thoughts, “Let’s go find your mom then.”

Nocturne beamed, his smile was like a warming sight like the winter sun.

Jared drove out of Tim Tower, bought a cake, and headed straight to Pritchard Mansion.

But Agnes wasn’t home, and he had no idea where she might be.

Agnes‘ phone number was a special one, he couldn’t reach her even though she had called him before.

Nocturne was visibly disappointed.

Given the choice, he’d prefer to be with Agnes.

Jared offered, “How about I take you to meet someone?”

Nocturne looked up, “Who are you taking me to meet?”

“You’ll know when we get there.”

Jared took Nocturne to Comfort Oasis Retirement Home.

He initially wanted to introduce Nocturne to Agnes‘ grandmother.

But he didn’t expect that Agnes was there too.

The grandmother was in her room mending shoes, with Agnes helping her.

They were chatting intermittently.

Agnes‘ grandmother, suffering from Alzheimer’s, was on the best medication available.

But her memory was not what it once was.

She would often forget what she was saying mid–sentence.

Halfway through Agnes‘ visit, her grandmother asked for the third time, “Why hasn’t Jared come with you?”

Before Agnes could continue explaining, Jared walked in with Nocturne, “Grandma, I went to buy a cake, that’s why I was late.”
